I may have done something dumb. What would you do?

Trip advisor has been wrong before. They said our hotel in mackinaw city was suposted to be gross and it was wonderful! I couldnt believe it was only a two star (though they were right on the breakfast bar sucking)

It looks like the decor may be dated but other than that, OK. I would go ahead with it and if it's really bad take pictures and ask Priceline for a refund. I think if you are armed with the right expectations (NOT your average 3*) you should be fine.

And I am TOTALLY OK with a crummy breakfast. I can always get a delicious "airport breakfast"! LOL BUT, what I can't handle is dirty rooms. I can handle dated, but not dirty. <fingers crossed>

Well, we'll see. Like I said, I have always had good luck with Priceline. Usually I pick 4 star. This time I chose 3 star on purpose so I would hopefully get a hotel with free breakfast. Just to save on time. That may have been my downfall. :confused3

Every time I have used Priceline, I have been able to get double beds. I either call ahead, or ask when we check in. Usually these are trips with just me and DD. (so we could share a king if necessary of course).

We usually use Priceline to get 4* hotels (somewhat) cheap, so I always figure, we can't lose. We have stayed at some AWESOME properties in major cities, like Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Charlotte, and Raleigh.

I know! This was my first time to do a 3 star. Always have good luck with 4 star. The best yet was the Omni in Houston for $50!! It was AMAZING!!!

Another think to think about is people usually post reviews (except Disney lol) when they have very strong views. ie really bad or really great. I never think to leave a review for satisfactory. I expect satisfactory. KWIM?

Very good point! I know many people who only complain when something is wrong.

Yeah, I steer away from Priceline now for our family, because the last 3 times we used them, we wound up with 1 bed, and after asking, were told each time that we'd have to cough up another $30-$50 to get moved to a 2-bed. But I'd do it in a heartbeat if it was just DH and me.

A few years back we had to go to a wedding in NYC and booked on Priceline(we were going for 2 nights) and got a good price, then son driving in decided he would rather stay there in the city so I went to front desk to ask about getting it for same price like 160, the said no a room would be 350!!!! so was with daughter and she suggested we go over to their free computers and access Priceline and bid on hotel....well guess what we got the room for a little more(I bet safely to get a room) and marched back to the front desk with the confirmation...and said I needed 2 beds said they couldn't guarantee it but when son checked in 2 lg Queen beds....it was a lovely new Marriott too.. so if you don't like room their are options..
