I just bought a resale timeshare, closed and have made my reservation for next year. I am very excited and looking forward to my first time stay at OKW.

Mickey- how was it- we are thinking of buying one- may I ask why you went with a resale over a "new" purchase. If you don't mind me asking, I would appreciate any info you are willing to share. We are kind of confused Thanks! And Congrats!

Hi ZPT1022,

The two biggest reasons as to why I went through a resale instead of direct.

1) The price. Right now Disney is selling DVC for $80 point, on the resale market you can get it anywhere from $62-70 point, plus closing cost. Evening taking the closing cost into consideration, it was much cheeper. Each property is negotiable, even the closing cost.

2) I wanted OKW as my property and they are all sold out, so the only way to get this property was through a resale. I wanted OKW because I have heard so many good things about it. Also the maint fees are the lowest of all of DVC resorts.

The process was very smooth and from start to finish it took 45 days.

Sounds great Mickey- thanks for sharing! FH has a lawsuit in the works, supposedly close to settlement (when he went in to have his wisdom teeth removed, the surgeon removed his molar, long story short, he said nothing was wrong, now we are suing) and we think that this is what we want to do with at least a big chunk of the money. Now all we have to do is wait !! Thanks again for sharing, it seems like it will be a very smooth process!
