I Made him go and he loved every minute of it...Trip Report, 6/13-6/20 UPDATED: 9/29

Dave Barry is great. He writes (or at least I think he still does, a nationally syndicated newspaper column). I particlarly loved one of his books: "Babies And Other Hazzards of the (S word).

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR NEW YEARS!!!!!!!!!! Great job You and Lizzy are staying neck and neck with great reports. Small World was not open when I was there the first time, so I will ride it for sure. Reading these reports reminds me of how much I missed on my last/first trip.

Great report n all, but it was your pictures that made me sit up and look twice. There is a bare chested man walking through Fantasyland!! I am gonna hide this from DH as we had a conversation while packing his stuff that
being bare chested in a WDW theme park was not allowed and

he thought it should be. :confused3

i said that I would not other kids to be subjected to his hairy torso :teeth:

he argued that surely he could wear a shirt but unbuttoned, just over him ;)

I said no way, you have to have at least one button in the middle done up for it to be respectable popcorn:: ....yes this went on for a while....

Please don't tell me that I'm wrong...I HATE BEING WRONG :Pinkbounc ,

So sorry for my rant, great story-telling and I'm very glad that you got to ride Its A Small World, can't wait for the further adventures of Tara and Steve

Who's Dave Barry?
There used to be a TV sitcom about him called Dave's World. It was based on his writings in his colum. Harry Anderson (also played on Night Court) played Dave.

Now I know whAT i AM GETTING FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY...YOU TWO HAVE SIMILAR HUMOR!

Chapter 8: Day 3!! FINALLY! Epcot: does Tara find a new favorite ride? And Steve finds his.

We are Disney Commando today. Starting right at…7:45, which is what time we woke up. Did the whole bad coffee with lots of sugar/hot chocolate/shower thing. We was out the door by 8:20! Yeah!
I set the alarm later today. It seems Steve gets out of bed a lot faster if you tell him we have to leave in 15 minutes. And so, we leave the POP, in our cherry red convertible (top down!)
…side note: I forgot to take a picture of the car! I KNOW! I was pretty mad myself. Especially after I had bragged about it at work. Stupid me.
And off to EPCOT we go. For the whole 10 minutes later we got there we parked 2 rows farther back. Ooooooooo. And then we waited. To meet my fabulous CM for more tickets! Yay!
And so we got in…I’ve never been to any of the parks for rope drop. My parents are the anti-commando, plus I’ve never stayed onsite except for the campgrounds, so being at a park for rope drop would require them to get up, like, early or something. So here we are, waiting for rope drop. The plan: Test track then run to Soarin’ Mission Space was NOT on my radar. I have to draw the line somewhere. So we inched over towards the side of the rope that goes to test track. Saw a whole troop of Lime green girls. I got excited. Went to chat. Found out they were a girl scout troop and wearing green, they’d be able to find each other. Drat. Today is the day that I’m on the lookout for Hookedonthemagic. I KNOW there’s another Limey out there. I was INFORMED! And I knew, like any smart DISer, that if she was anywhere at rope drop it was one of the big 3!
By the way. It’s hot out right now. And we are standing in the sun waiting for this rope we could have trampled quite easily to drop. Steve goes…look, I’m not the only one in pants! Oh wow, so there’s 2 people in Disney with pants on. WOW!
And then…I don’t know. They started playing music and think characters came out because I got this snap shot of goofy:

But I was too short to see anything. I did get to count backwards from 10 to 1. and then. Off we ran to Test Track. Or rather, walked briskly. You’re not allowed to run.

I’ve never been on Test track. Mostly I’m turned off by things that go really fast (ie anything faster than it’s a small world) but I was being brave. So I couldn’t answer the 4000 questions Steve asked me. But it was pretty clear he was excited about this ride. We were in the first group. This is the first time I was kinda disappointed I didn’t have more time in the queue area. It looked pretty cool. It made Steve excited. I was too busy looking for LGMHPCs. None to be spotted. Drat. So we watch the little pre-movie. Then we get into the NEXT queue line. What is that? the movie is like a holding pen for the next group of guinea pigs. Whatever. Because we are 2 and not 3 and because no one has gotten in the single riders line yet (it’s 8:06 folks) we got the backseat all to ourselves! (insert “backseat jokes” here) I wouldn’t sit next to him. We both sat on the outside. And off we went….wow! If I wasn’t awake before I got on that ride I was awake now. Steve was thrilled. LOVED it. He said, “this is my favorite ride” ohhhhh my goodness! He has a favorite ride at DISNEYWORLD!
THAT MEANS I’LL GET TO GO BACK!!! SCORE!

Fastpassed the Test Track…and flew over to Soarin’.

I knew. KNEW. That there would be a ton of people. I didn’t disappoint myself. Wait time said 45 minutes. With no other option (we already had Fast Passes.) we got in line. For a 23 minute wait! I figured with yesterday at Magic Kingdom having good luck we’d be stuck today. So far so good! And so they put us in the FRONT ROW! On the FIRST TIME!
I was a little nervous, especially when they told us to take off your shoes if you had slide-ons (which I didn’t but it made me nervous anyway)

It was FREAKING AWESOME! Totally blown away. I was a little freaked out when they lifted us up at first, but I forgot about it in about 30 seconds! My stomach did some drops when we went over some things, but ohhhhhh, it was sooooooo beautiful! This is my new 2nd favorite ride! (People Mover, Move over!)

(steve’s favorite part was going over the river with the people Kayaking. He says to me.. “KICK ‘EM IN THE HEAD!”, which sent the girl on the other side of him into a giggling fit. Silly 13 year olds)

By the way: Looked for Limeys here too. None to be found except 4 of those darn girlscouters.
We had some time to kill before we could FP Sorin’ so we got in line for…let me consult the book….

Oh yes. Living with the land. I took so many freaking pointless pictures of…food? Maybe I was hungry..
Here’s a sample. Times this by about 15 and that’s how many pictures I took:

No Limeys here either. But there WERE some extremely annoying teenagers in the front of the boat. Wouldn’t shut their MOUTHS. Annoying.
I love that I talk about my own age group as if I don’t belong. Because really, mostly, I don’t. They were there with their PARENTS. Nah nah nah. I got to be there as a GROWN UP…all by MYSELF.
Okay, my teenage moment has passed.

After living with Tara taking pictures, our Fastpass time for Test track was up. So we ran over, got our Sorin’ Fastpasses and went back to test track. It was fantastic, again. Steve liked it, again. We decided to mosey on through back to the land for our Sorin time. We stopped in a few shops, I found a Stitch pin ON THE GROUND. No owner, looking lost.
He now has a new owner in a nifty little pin trading book, on my floor in my living room. Right next to Cinderella.

Some mother is mad somewhere because Disney had to make pins with backs that fall off so we could buy more backs.

Do we all understand why I want to work for Disney marketing? THAT’S BRILLIANT!

My backs did fall off too, once or twice, but I caught my pin in time. THANK GOODNESS.

Enough with all the chatter, no Limey’s in the Gift shop either, so we head back to Soarin’ for another fabulous adventure.

Now that we’re soarin and test tracked out…we’re heading to The World Showcase…

In my next chapter!

Next up: the phone call from H-E-L-L that almost ruins the growing love for the mouse and maybe this time, we’ll meet mia.

Here's a random EPCOT picture for you!

Glad you're back!! Great report........I wish I could have been at Disney with my boyfriend when I was your age........never even occurred to us!

Great update Tara, just one question. What do you have against your own age group, I mean you're not with us much longer! Great update as always!

get a little distressed when people clump me in the "teenager" group. it's hard to prove to people that you're more adult then your age once their mind is made up.
