I"m so EXCITED but everyone thinks I'm CRAZY!

We are taking a vacation over Thanksgiving. We are doing 4 days at the parks and a 4 day cruise. OKW is our home resort so I booked a studio at about 11 months out. I was able to call Tuesday (7 month window opened) and moved our room to AKV. I really wanted Boardwalk and AKV was my second choice (kids first choice). I am so excited we were able to get a SV at AKV the Saturday - Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I keep telling people how excited I am that I was able to get a room and they all think I'm crazy. I know they are thinking that surely Disney is not sold out this far in advance. They just don't understand how serious some people are about getting their desired rooms. I don't even try to explain DVC to them... then they would think I was really crazy!

Thanks for letting me share my excitement (and not looing at me like Im crazy!).... AKV ~ Here we come!!!!!!!!!

I think that you have every reason to be excited!! You are going to have a fabulous trip!!

We will be celebrating my 40th next year at WDW and it just happens to fall on Thanksgiving. We are making it a Grand Gathering and have quite a few family members and friends joining us. We will be doing DVC for us, but CRO for everyone else and they don't understand why I want to start making reservations at the 500 day mark ... oh well, they'll see when we get there!

Now, if I was going to take a "once in a lifetime" trip, or even just a trip every 10 years or so I don't think I would go at Thanksgiving. Since we are all fortunate enough to be DVC members and get to go fairly often if we want I think a Thanksgiving trip sounds AMAZING!!

So if we don't get it, who will? I understand your excitement because we booked BWV at 7 months for August , booked AKV at the last minute for June and will be returning "home" SSR at Christmas. Only my family understands how excited we are. Enjoy AKV and there WILL be a next time for BWV. I'm jealous because you get also go on DCL after AKV. How fun will that be

Congratulations! I'm glad you got AKV for your trip! We're only a month away from our DVC/DCL cruise/ DVC visit with our extended family, so, I'm very excited too! DS/DDiL share my enthusiasm and when the pictures of Kidani came on line, I was sure to share the pictures with them. That's our resort of choice for after the cruise!

Congratulations!
Next year we are doing the Disney cruise, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We are going to be arriving at WDW on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and staying until we board the ship on Saturday. I have to call at my 11 month window this December to book our days before the cruise and believe me I am nervous. I know that it is a busy time of year! I plan on booking at my home resort of AKV, and then trying to change to OKW at the 7 month mark. I don't know if it will be available, but I am going to try. We have never stayed at OKW before but really love the laid back feel that it has.
So, long story short, I really understand your excitement. And I totally get it that you have to plan trips over peak travel times very carefully!

Congrats! I'm excited for you...that's wonderful! EVERYONE I know thinks I'm crazy, even the people I bring as guests! But, who cares! I'm happy! Verrrryyy Happy!

I book 11 months out for what I want. I am a pre-planner by nature, and it works well with Disney. Usually when I wait, I wind up at one of the DVC resorts that was my 2nd or 3rd choice....and I'm not complaining, by any means, I love them all, but my preferences are my preferences.

I booked 3 nights in AKV SV for November at the 11th month mark, and I booked 5 nights at BW for my family in January at the 11th month mark.

So don't worry about what other people say, go and ENJOY your wonderful upcoming vacation.

BTW, we did the Land/Sea vacation when we first bought in and our kids were smaller. We booked a studio BW view for three nights and the cruise for 4. It's still my favorite vacation of my life to date!

Reading throught the replies I realized that SV can stand for stand view or savanna view.... Well just to clarify I got the BIG SV... as in SAVANNA VIEW!!!!

Yeap... my excitement continues! Now if the next seven months wouldn't seem so long!

Congrats! on getting what you want. People don't even ask us anymore about Disney and DVC. They think we are crazy, and we get the same question of what do you do if you go all the time. They don't get it. I need my Disney fix at least once a year or even more. This will be the first time in about 15 years, that we are only going once this year, and believe me I'm going crazy. We have a son graduating from law school and the trip to NC for that, and then moving him, so way too much going on. Oh well
