I"M GOING TO SEE BARRY!!!!

Barry Manilow, that is!!!!


I am sooooooo excited! I love Barry but I've never gotten to see him in concert. My DH and I went to Las Vegas over the summer, but it was while Barry's show at the Las Vegas Hilton was on hiatus.

So I a few weeks ago, I got a notification from the fan club that there will be two shows being taped for a PBS special and that the tickets were free, on a first-come-first served basis. I put in my request for 2 tickets to both shows and kept my fingers crossed.

Well, today I was notified that I got BOTH SETS OF TICKETS!!! So I get to see Barry, not once but TWICE!!!!

Of course, now the big obstacle is getting the money for airfare. For DH and I to fly to Las Vegas it will be about $550 (on Airtran). DH is grumbling and threatens me that we may not have the money available. I told him that the airfare is cheaper than a divorce, which is what we will be getting if I don't get to go!!!


I just had to share my excitement with you guys!

I am so jealous! I am a big "Fanilow". I have seen him in concert 7 times. I have not seen him in Vegas yet. Maybe he will pull you on stage to sing "Can't smile with out you"!!

I love Barry Manilow. My best friend is patiently awaiting his proposal! She is crazy I know, but she loves him she will be so jealous when I tell her she could have gotten free tickets. She just went to see him In October.

That's great. Do you have a girlfriend that would like to go? That way you only spend half the money and leave your husband at home.

I saw him 8 years ago in Pennsylvania at an outdoor concert. We weren't married yet and my husband went with me my two sisters and two nieces, he was one of the few men in the crowd, but we had a great time.

He puts on the best show ever! My DH had to drag me to my first concert but when I got there I had the best time ever. Enjoy!!!!

Barry seems to be EVERYWHERE. We were watching ER last night and they did a kareoke "Copacabana' at the club (as well as a slow rendition of Ready to Take a Chance again, I think it was) where Neela and whatshisface got married. And then Dr.Luka was singing Copacabana in the car with Abby before they got all kissyfaced. It was SO awesome!

Oh, all I got was a dirty look.

He is being so d*@% stubborn about this. He knows how psyched I am about it and he keeps pooping on my parade, as it were.

I've already given him several quite viable options as to how we can pay for the airfare, but he doesn't want to hear it.

I told him that I am quite willing to go alone (especially since it will only be for a couple of days). He then pulled the ultimate no-no: He said he won't allow me to go alone! Um, the last time I checked I was a grown woman who does not need permission and he is my husband, not my father!!!

Maybe I can walk to Vegas. If I start now, I might make it by next Monday!

Wow. The year was 1973. I was seeing Bette Midler on Broadway at the Palace Theater. . After the intermission, she gave a segemnt to her bandleader. ( Much better that the cheesy "opening act" type of routine.) The bandleader was Manilow. I was not impressed, but the rest of the audience went wild.

Ohhh, you simply must go to the show! I am so jealous. I saw him once and he is the best. Weekend In New England and Mandy always make me cry. Have a wonderful time, DH will understand, I mean, he just has to, right?
