I love Universal-but they are at war with my stomach!

I even didn't like Despicable Me much because it felt like it constantly threw me against the back of the seat. I'm hoping they've smoothed up the movement somewhat or I'm riding in the non-movement zone.
Well they have NOT. I suggest a neck brace and a hemorroid donut.

I had also forgotten how freaking insanely rough they made the "carriage" scene in Shrek. I was beat after a 12-hour drive, then two back-to-back 7am EMH. I was just managing to doze off when.......bambambambam. Good grief.

I had to sit out MIB after riding Simpsons! And ohh, the old Back To The Future ride...rode that one after lunch and we REGRETTED IT. And Forbidden Journey, the ride where I'm very surprised they put steps to exit the attraction- wonder how many people have fallen down due to dizziness????

You go upside down in Forbidden Journey??????? No wonder I get off feeling so sick.

You don't go upside down.

As odd as that sounds, I actually thought the exact same thing.

I have to take Dramamine to do Universal (I do the less drowsy)--the simulators wreck me. Although Star Tours does not...?

I can ride Star Tours too without incident. In fact I can ride it several times in one day and not feel any I'll effects. Wish I could say the same about Universals!

We've tried Universal, but the roller coasters make my stomach hurt (the dropping sensation hurts as I have adhesions) and hubby gets sick on sims, so we either have to ride stuff alone or stick to kiddy rides. I do want to try the new DA area, but the need for a two park ticket to ride one attraction is making that hard to swallow.

I'm thinking my non-thrill-riding family is not the demographic Universal is marketing for, but we do like it enough to go every other trip or so. I can't think of any remedy for my adhesion pain, but Altoids always settles my stomach after a little to much sim-riding. I love Star Tours and will go on 5-6 times in a row. Sucking on a peppermint Altoid keeps me strong. FJ has too long of a wait to go on more than once, but we go on first, before we eat lunch.

I don't get motion sickness, but I think I can offer some advice for those who do. First, always do these rides on a relatively empty stomach. Leave at least an hour or two, depending on how fast you digest, between your last meal and getting in the ride. I digest pretty slowly, so after a meal, I always steer my party to shows, sedate rides, or walk through attractions.

Better yet, get all the more intense rides out of the way before you have a meal. Then do the more sedate stuff afterwards.

Also, if you know you're on a ride that you find rough, hang on! Seriously. If you hang on tight to the handrails, it definitely smooths the ride for you. I do this on certain rough coasters. Of course, try not to hang on so tight that you end up hurting yourself.

Also, for most people, it will help to keep your head against the headrest, and look straight forward.

This is common sense advice, but if you keep them in mind and plan your day accordingly, they could help. And skipping a ride altogether is always an option. I always skip the Hulk coaster. Not because of my stomach, but the ride does give me a headache.

P.S.: Some people mentioned the upcoming Kong ride. I've heard that it will have at least one giant AA!

We went to Universal Florida with one park per day tickets. We just didn't ride the Hogwarts Express. It's still well worth it for Diagon Alley and Escape from Gringotts. You can spend hours exploring DA. It's a wonderfully themed land.

No, not actually upside down. But almost.

Bought my Dramamine for our trip later this week.
