My boyfriend & I are going to WDW in August! It is his first time. He is a whimp though. He doesn't like roller coasters or other thrill rides. So he says he isn't going on Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, or Mission Space. I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't like going on rides myself, but I guess I have no choice. Is he able to wait in the lines with me? Or does he have to wait outside? Anyone have any ideas or has anyone been in the same situation before? ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

He could wait in line with you and then take the "chicken exit." Dh isn't big on thrill rides, so he usually just waits while I stand in line and go on the ride - he'll browse through the gift shop or another nearby shop, or just hang out & people watch for a while. However, we always go during the off-season, so the lines are short and he doesn't have to wait for me very long. I imagine in August, when crowds are heavier, waiting around for you could get tedious for him - I hope he's a patient man! Or, maybe you guys can agree to split up for a bit, so while you are going on those rides, he can wander off and check out comething else.

You might want to suggest that he try some of them - I am also not a thrill ride lover (I would NEVER go on the roller coasters at Universal), yet I love the Disney ones. Just a thought.

I am pretty much a thrill ride wimp also. But, that being said...I love Big Thunder. Mission Space is no big deal. RnRC...okay that one might be a problem, but I love it. Splash Mt...well, I do it but am not terribly happy about it. Space Mt....My 10 y/o dd loves it, so I do it, but that's the only reason. ToT...did in August for the first time..no big deal..did it again in Dec....nope, never again.

So, start with BTMRR..it's basically just quick with some fast curves. No big drops. Then on to Mission Space...can't describe it but it's terrific. Splash and Space are a judgement call. ToT, like I said..never again. Not taking the chance I won't get the wimp sequence of drops!!!

I also don't like big scary thrill rides, but I love Big Thunder Mountain and tolerate Splash Mountain (only the big drop at the end gets me and it's not that bad). I've also done Space Mountain and ToT, just to say I did, but haven't done them again.
Mission Space wasn't open yet so can't comment.

I would suggest that if you do ride without him, you try to use Fastpass on those rides, so that his wait isn't so long.

I vote for mapping out the rides you're going to do on your own, and splitting up for a half hour here and there. Most of these are probably best used with fast pass anyway, so it shouldn't be hard to know that "you" are going back over to Mission Space while he is playing in the arcade.

And technically speaking, he could grab a fast pass for RRC while you grab one for ToT, and one for Mission Space while you grab one for Fast Track, then YOU can go back at the appointed time and have the same basic window for both rides. Though depending on time of day single rider line might be an even better bet.

i just went in may with a friend and she is the biggest wimp...i got her on big thunder mountain railroad (which she endedu p loving)...and space mountain...

RnR , Tot, mission space, i went on myself..she just waited...the crowds were low and we had fastpass so it went qwuick..she got a snack and people watched

My mom does not like thrill rides, and she LOVED Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain & Space Mountain!! She hasn't been on any of the others though.

Try to convince him to give them a try... ;) Good luck, and have a great time regardless if he does the big rides with you or not. :)

My DH doesn't do anything that even remotely looks like a "thrill" ride, but I love them. He went on BTMR once for me and said he would never do it again. You can try to convince him to just try one, but be prepared that he might not like it. I don't understand what the big deal is, but I don't push it. On the other hand, my mom also claims to hate coasters and thrill rides, but she loves all of them at disney (including RnR and Mission Space).

I don't mind riding the rides alone, but I hate waiting in line (esp. long lines like the good rides usually have) alone. What we usually do is get fastpasses or use the single rider lines. Usually those lines aren't too bad. You can get a fastpass to 2 different rides using both of your tickets. Doing some research about what times of the day the crowds are lightest for those rides can be a big help too.

I've never had him wait in line with me but he could if you know which ones have the chicken exits that are easy to use. I know that TOT has a good chicken exit .

Keep in mind that most of the WDW rides are intended for the family and not really "thrill rides". If he were going to try one I would suggest either test track or btmr. Otherwise just use fast pass especially if he isn't riding as you can get one with your park pass and one with his! In MGM for example gram one for RnRC with yours and one for Tot with his. When your ride window is up he can just get a snack, catch a show or wait nearby and people watch.

He can certainly wait in line with you but only if you use the standby line - and then if he dosen't want to ride there is always a "chicken exit".

FWIW - I refused to ride TOT for many years until my dd asked me to please take her on her 5th birthday. How could I say no, and I LOVED it.

Have a great trip.

Thanks a lot everyone for all these wonderful tips. I'm going to try my hardest to get him on each one at least once! He keeps telling me maybe he will  I hope so! But if not I'll just do the fastpass or the single rider line. Thanks again for all your help! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I'm not terribly "thrilling" myself, so I've done the waiting game for years with DH (and now with all 3 thrill-seeking kids!). I've done the chicken exit many times to see the indoor theming of the ride (interesting), and I've waited outside shopping/snacking/people-watching.

My suggestion is this: Tell him to bring a book! I really enjoy sitting with a cool drink reading while they ride coasters. The time flies by, so they don't feel as guilty leaving me outside alone.
