I love the studios

We only have enough points for studios right now (unless we only want to go 5 or 6 days a year), and that's fine. We have a 3yo and a 6yo. We are going in a few months in a 2br, but that's because we're bringing grandparents. Once the kids are older, we may need more privacy and we'll add on-- but right now with the kids young, studios are great. We are used to staying at values and moderates, so just staying at a deluxe is a treat for us. This way, we can go twice a year

If you fancy a 3 week stay, how about moving around to different resorts - that way the small space of the studio won't seem so oppressive as you are getting a new view each week, and you could make one week a 1-bed and the other 2 studio weeks (obviously depends on your points), also if you can make it just less than 3 weeks and miss out one weekend then that can save a lot of points as well.

we are looking at doing this next year, almost 3 week trip, the first weekend we will go over to Universal for a few nights (I know....) and the 2nd weekend we will stay at DVC and then fly home the third weekend, so only one weekend to be paid for on points.

Maybe. I think I like staying at one resort. I love that feeling...when you're somewhere for a long time and it really starts to feel like home.

And I hate having to pack up and move again.

I did look at our points again though was thinking instead of doing 3 weeks in a studio, just do 2 weeks and save the rest of the points for the next year.

I think we're going to buy 50 AKL points. We'll use our BCV points every year which can give us about 2 weeks total in a studio (either all at once or split between the year). And then every other year, we'll use the 50 AKL points. Those are the years that we'll have lots of points...and the possiblility of very long vacations!!!

[/QUOTE]We have two teen DDs (13 and 18) and we stay in the studios so we can have a long trip.

We figure if we were staying in a regular hotel we wouldn't get two rooms, so why do we need a bigger room going the DVC route?

Now having the option of the larger room is nice, but not needed
I agree. Our family of four stayed in a regular hotel room every time we went to Disney Pre-DVC. I would hate to blow the potential length or frequency of our Disney trips on a bigger villa that we would rarely be in. But yes, it is nice to have the option!
