I love the look of using vellum, but

I have no clue how to go about it. I've seen pics where there is lettering and it looks like it's right on the vellum. How do you do this???

to get the lettering on it. I have used letter stickers on vellum too.

If you print directly on vellum it may smear. (It can take a while to dry) To stop this from happening, use the transparency setting on your printer or print dark grey not black.

I found an ink jet translucent vellum in Staples and when I print on it, it dries quickly. I haven't had any problems with smudging. To conserve the vellim when I have already cut out part of a sheet, I print out my journaling on reg. paper to see exactly where on the page it will be, then I tape a peice of vellum in that same spot to another piece of paper and run it thru my printer.

and on the printer setting!
I use it CONSTANTLY! with no probs!

Also don't forget that you can use handwriting on it too! Or stamps and heat embossing! But let it dry! I love vellum!

Is the stuff from Staples acid free? I sometimes use vellum with journaling over a photo.

I have not had a problem with the ink smearing. It does come out wet, but dries quickly.

pattyT - cool tip on buying bulk vellum at the office supply store. Maybe if I have more I won't worry about experimenting with it more often with my printer.

THe Strathmore vellum is the one that I buy too.
