I wish I could just FREEZE time so it lasted so much longer..

Nothing makes me more happy than a house full of happy laughing kids, adults, etc..OK, maybe a yard full of them :rotfl2: ..

I am really enjoying the beautiful weather, the movies in the park at night, the kids swimming, and myself with them. Football practices..The sleeping in, the going to bed later and later at night..

Thankfully summer really is only getting started. I just am in my glory now.

Anyone else?

me too, I love when my kids are home from school and we have no real schedule!!!

opposite here.. We are a cold weather family. Give us snow and winter all year round..

Think we were all eskimos in another life, cause we just hole up in the summer and yet get out there in the winter..

We are in NY, so at least we get winter.

I love summer:lovestruc

I love that it is warm almost the entire year here in Southern California.

I will be happiest in August. I agree, it's great when they have football practice, let them run around and get tired out while I don't have to run around, too. :lmao: Our trip is in August, which of course makes it a fun month, too! No more summer school, we get the whole month of August OFF! For us, we have summer school starting Monday, so that's going to stink. But I just remember, August will be fun... :moped:

Not to hijack the thread, but I find it refreshing to read all of the posts with parents who actually ENJOY having their kids home during the summer!! :thumbsup2

I don't have any kids, but I would imagine that when I do, I'll actually WISH that I could stay home with them in the summertime. But I'll be one of those working moms (out of necessity). :(

I'm already hearing so much of the "WHEN ARE THESE KIDS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL?!?!?!" comments from friends and family with kids. I just think that I would really enjoy that time. I would probably be the constant planner, finding things to do with the kids, sharing projects with them, going on "field trips", etc. So many of my friends say that their kids are driving them crazy because they're so bored. SO that to me would be an indication that I need to come up with some fun things for them to do!!

I don't know. Maybe I'm dillusional. But it's nice to see that some people actually enjoy having their kids at home! :thumbsup2

The best day of the year for me is when the cover comes off the pool, deck furniture is out and cold beers are in the cooler:banana: :dance3:  :woohoo: :dance3:

Summer is the greatest!!!:sunny: :beach:

Sleeping in; no school; vacations; sitting in the sun; swimming; the sounds and smells; it's a great season and way too short here in Michigan!!

I agree with you totally. I was reading on another board a mom who resorted to taking all of her kids' stuff out of her room (bed, toys, everything) and she had to earn everything back because she wasn't behaving this summer. Of course, I wasn't there, but that just sounds like a bored kid to me. My kids act up and are total brats if we stay home all day, day in, day out. So I could see my kids act like that, too. I just get going! We go to the pool, playground, park, there are free movies..there are tons to do..you don't even have to drive far to do it, you know? Of course, it's easiest FOR ME to just stay home and let them fight all day and just yell at them because they are bored..but that doesn't really solve anything. They are still bored, they are still going to act up, so you will just end up yelling more.

ITA! It always makes me so sad when I hear those comments. :( I really can't believe that people are wishing their time with their children away. They are only young and home with you for such a short amount of time.

I don't really love hot weather, but I do love summer. I love, love, love being with my children and doing fun things everyday! I love the relaxed days-- waking up late, going to a park or the zoo or the pool, making frequent trips for ice cream, staying up late, etc. :goodvibes

I actually prefer the cooler months. It gets hot as hades here in the DC area and we don't spend as much time outside as we would if it were 10 degrees cooler w/less humidity.

I do love the lack of structure in the summer. It's nice to lose the responsibility of school.

I wish.. We both work and kids are in a camp that costs us an arm and leg and we LOSE money due to summer time.. Another reason to hate summer

Once they get older, when they can be home alone, I guess that is better..

but for now, we have to save up in the spring to cover the freaking costs of camps.. :headache:

I really liked it when my kids were off for summer. I really, really loved those times. Now they are both in their early twenties. One lives away from home, one's still here in college but he's never home anymore.:(

I go outside just to see the neighbor's kids playing.

I really miss my kids being little. Now, I'm really depressed :(

You forgot to mention that summer started TODAY! Finally I am thinking about swimming in the pool! We've been too cool for too long!

Oh, your post made me so sad. :( I'm so sorry. I know that I will feel EXACTLY the same way when my kids are grown. I am well aware that the best time of my life is right now and that I'll have many sad and lonely days ahead once they move out. :sad1:

Thanks momto2girls:)

I wish I really would've realized back then how precious those days were. My life is good now, just different.

What's really sad is I used to scrapbook and I stopped doing it because looking at all the years passed was really heartbreaking. I wish I could jump into those pictures just for one day and relive it again. :wizard:

Maybe one day I'll get into it again, I just can't right now.

Tuck all those memories away because the days will soon turn into years and you won't believe how fast it happens.

Have a fun and safe summer everyone!

OH I LOVE IT. I work, but part time. Summer is just THE BEST TIME for us..I love the snuggling with my DD9, and not having to say, GO TO BED...:cool1: We really have no schedule, and I enjoy it immensely. I love seeing my almost teen son sleeping in, and having the OMG GIRLS come calling for him..They have friends over a lot, and we do a LOT of family activities. Zoos, water parks, beach days. I prefer day trips in the summer. I so enjoy every single solitary minute, and you will too. I am so sad the first day of school, I will not even think about it now. We do not go back till Sept 2nd, so until then it is :teeth:

I so agree. Had a few coronas with some lime...Thought about my buds..:hyper:

Yes, camps are so darn $$ here as well. I looked into it for a bit, but as I only do 3 days a week, we found a way to have someone pitch in the 1 day our (my dh and I) schedules clash....If we do get stuck, it is for 2 hours, and they are getting older, so I have started them alone for that long...

You sound JUST like me!! Not a fan of summer camp....I want them home with me if only for a few weeks!! Trust me ....I will be crying when they are back at school......does not matter that I volunteer at their schools almost everyday! They are only 11 and 7 once and I vow to enjoy every minute of them. My goal is to keep them kids for as long as possible!!
