I LOVE Summer

I LOVE SUMMER, TOO! I'm a teacher so I'm off with my kids in the summer and just love every minute we spend together. My oldest will be getting married next May and so this summer seems even more special because it will be the last one where we have him here with us - well, at least he sleeps here - between work and the fiancee we don't see him all that much but when we do I just treasure those times!

I really liked it when my kids were off for summer. I really, really loved those times. Now they are both in their early twenties. One lives away from home, one's still here in college but he's never home anymore.

I go outside just to see the neighbor's kids playing.

I really miss my kids being little. Now, I'm really depressed

Ahh! I have to tell you, I have DS11 and DD7 and I want more!! My husband thinks I am crazy. We eloped. I was 18.....long story. by 21, we had a cute apartment, college, jobs, new cars then, ENDOMETRIOSIS struck! My doctor told me ....at 21.....That we might not be financially, emotionally, mentally to be parents but, I had a SEVERE case and if I ever wanted to have a child I should really try ...NOW!! It all made sense...this is why God wanted us to marry so young.

We had our beautiful DS and it was hard. We were in a one bedroom apartment and we let go of one of our prized cars that we had earned. DD followed almost 4 years later. Now years later, DK are happy and healthy and I have had time "to myself" and I am over it. I want more little ones to love. Now, we have a big beautiful home, with a bedroom that is screaming to be a nursery.

Your entry reminded me of ME years from now. If we don't/can't have anymore children, I am sure I will be missing the days of summer with my children too. Even though I am only 32, I do know only on thing might be better than children....grandchildren!!

I've been bummed all week b/c 2 out of my 3 have been in church sports camp everyday, all day. I'm ready for my whole posse to be together so we can all be summer bums together. Next week we will be back to our regularly scheduled "no schedule!" Love summertime!

I love summer too. We don't have schedules for anything in the summer. Pop in a movie past "normal" bedtime, so what. Sleep in late...doesn't matter. Have a picnic lunch even if it's only in our backyard, let's do it. I love this time of year and even if my kids drive me batty sometimes, I wish it would never end.

I'd love to have grandchildren if either one would give me some. My oldest is 22 and he says it will be a long time for him to make me a grandma. He says he doesn't feel like being weighted down with a wife and children so he says anytime in his 30's would be fine. Preferably late 30's too

Son number 2 is going to college to be an RN. He has a low self esteem and was never the "bad fun" boyfriend so girls just kind of use him as a stepping stone.

He's such a sweet boy and I know he'd give me and my husband a room full of grand kids if the right girl would just give him a chance. He's always been the opposite of what young girls want such as cool, popular and a bad a$$. These qualities are quite opposite of him. He's sweet, average looking, and sensible. Plays things safe and is polite.

Why do girls want all the mean guys early on, then want the ones like my son
later. I pray every night he finds a nice girl that thinks he's the cat's meow.

Anybody out there have a daughter that would match my son?

I wish I could get my DD to stop dating the stupid mean boys! I guess they're technically men now, but they sure don't act like it! *she's 22*

To keep this on topic, even DD stopped by today to lay around the pool and talk. Summer rocks! (I had to whisper that so DH, who has to wake up at 6, didn't hear... I think he secretly hates that we have all the fun during the summer while he works too many hours a day. When the kids were younger, he was happy I was home during the summer, now? He knows we goof off, sleep in, and do NOTHING!)

Sweat, heat, people in SHORTS , mosquitoes, sunburns and high electricity bills... you can HAVE IT!!

House full of happy kids? Wait till they're teenaged and BORED....

Sleep in? Now when you have a year round job!!

I'm a polar bear, give me WINTER!!!

I wish I could just FREEZE time so it lasted so much longer..

Nothing makes me more happy than a house full of happy laughing kids, adults, etc..OK, maybe a yard full of them ..

I am really enjoying the beautiful weather, the movies in the park at night, the kids swimming, and myself with them. Football practices..The sleeping in, the going to bed later and later at night..

Thankfully summer really is only getting started. I just am in my glory now.

Anyone else?

Me too! We have so much fun in the summer. I love the relaxed schedule, swimming, cooking out. The only thing I like better is when they go back to school!

We are going up to the Cape on Thursday for a few weeks. That is when summer starts for me. It's just waayyy too hot down here right now to be considered fun/summer. The summer to me is the Cape ... lunches at the beach, going out on the boat, cleaning it in the driveway, sitting on the deck in the afternoon with a drink while grilling overlooking the water. I can't wait to go home ... My dad bought DS a little toddler sized lifejacket for the boat ... I can't wait to go on it with him!!

I love summer too . This past Wednesday was the first day I really felt like I was on summer vacation since I finally finished cleaning my classroom up for the summer I spent Wednesday on my deck with a book-I had 2 popsicles for lunch, then met a friend at the gym later, came back to my house and the 2 of us enjoyed a bottle of wine and some cheese and fruit on my deck with a beautiful sunset in the background .

opposite here.. We are a cold weather family. Give us snow and winter all year round..

Think we were all eskimos in another life, cause we just hole up in the summer and yet get out there in the winter..

Amen! I just LOVE Winter. Summer is a close 2nd.

Yep, I'm with you. Your "new" lifestyle sounds just like me. But sooner than later Fall will kick in.
