The whole feeling you get when you step in the hotel is absolutely comfertable.Their rooms are a little small and I was wondering if the french quarter was better or worse. How is the pool in the fq? ::MinnieMo

FQ rooms are the same size. The pool is nice at the FQ, but there is only one, so it can be crowded at certain times of the year. POR has the main pool and then lots of quiet pools too. FQ is a bit smaller in size as far as the resort. Much easier to get around. Short walk to everything. I have some pictures you can click on that show both pools.

The rooms at POFQ are the same size as the rooms at POR. The pool on the FQ side has the dragon slide which is cool as I believe the slide on the Riverside side is not as big. I do not think that there is a better or worse between POR and POFQ but more along the lines of what people perfer.

We just returned from POR and loved it. We think that POFQ looks like a moderate version of POP and that is not a compliment. On that note, we did walk down at eat at the POFQ twice so I could try the beignets and because our DDE card was valid for the food court there but the table service at Riverside. We mostly just refilled our mugs in the food court at Riverside but did eat at, and greatly enjoyed Boatwrights. The slide at FQ is smaller/shorter than the one in the main pool at Riverside. We also preferred the more intimate feel of the rooms in the Bayou and the look of the Mansions to the 3 story open buildings. Some love FQ so it truly is personal preference. We appreciated the amenities available and feel that between staying at POR and the DVC resorts, we are forever spoiled for the values.(it only cost 20/night more than the values with AP) Still plan on trying some of the deluxes though.

We've stayed at POR and loved it. The theming was wonderful. Thought we'd try out POFQ this time around since it's more compact and we love the photos we've seen so far. We didn't eat at Boatwright's last time we were there (too many places to eat in the parks, so having a full-service restaurant at POFQ is not a big deal to us. Perhaps we'll eat breakfast there on our last day.

I'm a new PO fan too, specifically Riverside. I had an 11 night stay there earlier this month. I found the room to be spacious, but I was solo so that may be why. It was certainly much bigger than the closet size rooms you tend to get here in certain UK hotels.

I loved my room, and loved the grounds. I would walk early in the morning and it was so peaceful. If/when I return I will use the bike hire as I just didn't get round to it this time.

I'm so excited to read these posts, as I just booked POR today. I thought it looked wonderful, and when I did my Pros/Cons list of all the moderates, I couldn't find any cons for POR - so it won. :cool1:

I'm so happy to see all the great comments too! We booked POR for Sept. and will be our first visit onsite. I figured it would be nice but didn't know what to expect. Also nice to hear positive comments about Boatwright's, may try it for dinner. Thanks for posting!!

I'm glad to see this also - I'm taking my parents & DS 15 in a few weeks. I'm really getting excited now - but also dreading it due to increased work load & time needed in the office to make up for being gone for (gasp) a whole week!!!!

:mickeybar I do like POR also it is the only moderate to accomodate 5 in a room. On a side note I was able to use DDE card every day at the Riverside food court. I know it says that only FQ foodcourt will accept but no one questioned me, so even getting rice kripie treats I got 20% off. It did make my stay very economical!!!

We love POR. It is so nice to have the boat that goes to DTD. We love to go there almost every night. The food court is great. The main pool is nice, but it is nice that there are several pools. It will always be Dixie Landings to us.

I keep trying to get our current reservation changed to POR. This trip my mom is coming with me and the kids and she would LOVE this place.
