I love Flight of Passage, will I like Cosmic Rewind?

The two rides are very different. I can't ride tea cups, keep my eyes closed the entire time on Star Tours and half the time on FOP, but I LOVE GotG. If/when I start to feel a little off, I focus on something stationary or on the track while spiraling and it helps. Everyone reacts differently. Give it a try and see how you do. It's an incredible ride that my family loves!

Previous posts are spot on. Totally different rides.

I will offer this: If you or family members have any sensitivity to Soarin or FoP, riding GotG will not be fun. I personally have found rides that use 3D glasses combined with erratic direction changes cause minor motion sickness (Remy, MMRR).

I am not a roller coaster person -- and particularly don't like drops -- should I give Guardians a try? I am not prone to motion sickness, so I'm not concerned from that angle.
Do you do the other coasters at Disney? Guardians doesn’t have big drops and I would actually consider it to be quite smooth. As I’m sure you’ve seen people mention, it is fast and does twist you around but it really is pure fun. It sounds like you aren’t worried about getting motion sickness, so it may be worth a try for you.

NOPE.

Dark, Fast, Somewhat violent yet smooth - sometimes feels like your being flushed down the toilet. It IS a coaster, most extreme in WDW

For what it’s worth, i’m someone who gets motion sickness on Star Tours and Teacups, and finds Remy very unpleasant. No motion issues for me on FoP on multiple rides, but it hit my wife hard and ruined her next few hours.

I did Guardians for the first time on Sunday and loved it - no issues at all for me.
That's me. The rides that attempt to mimic motion with a video playing on a screen are the worst for me. Remy and Star Tours are not great, but my wife loves them so I just close my eyes. FoP isn't as bad for me. I guess I just can't get my eyes and body to agree on whether I'm moving or not. Guardians does spin some but you are actually moving and that helps. It is almost always fine and fun for me. The only time I had an issue is when the wife and I had a once-in-a-lifetime convergence of events where we had a use-anytime lightning lane for Guardians (because it had broken down while we were in line for a lightning lane) that was usable the next day (thank you, Guest Services!) and we bought a lightning lane for the next day and hit the virtual queue lottery just right. We rode Guardians three times back-to-back and I was starting to feel queasy on the third run. Usually, we just ride it once and I don't feel queasy at all.

It is a dark ride and the car you sit in does spin a bit but the track is very smooth and the car is spinning to keep you focused on the action/story happening around you so it doesn't feel like a teacup kind of spinning, if that makes sense. Disney also has a fun hook for the ride to keep you coming back because the music soundtrack has 6 different options and so there's a little bit of "Which one will I get this time?" to the ride (I don't remember hearing One Way or Another on any of my rides and I don't know that I'll feel complete until I do! 😄)

As an update for you all (and thanks for all the nice posts) I didn't ride Cosmic Rewind. My kid did and loved it. I wasn't feeling very well that day (almost fainted in line because of the heat) so I decided to skip the exciting rides.

I think the word smooth is the best description of Guardians. That was what impressed me the most. The smoothness of the ride made it superior to any other roller coaster.

That said I loved Avatar and wished there were 100's of rides that used the same system.

Sorry it didn't work out for you this time. Maybe you'll get a chance another time :)

Cosmic Rewind is unusual - some people who have ne er had motion sickness before get it there. Some with motion sickness on most other rides don't. I posted this on the disABILITIES Board after I rode during the previews.

Some people who never/seldom have issues with motion sickness are having problems with this ride and some who have problems with lots of rides aren’t having problems. Some have also found their usual medication for motion sickness isn’t working on this and others report it working better than usual.

I think the biggest variable might be what kind of motion causes issues for people on other rides and to what extent/how it is present or combined on this.
For some people, it’s screens. For others, it’s the up and down of roller coasters, the drops or how smooth the motion is. For some it’s spinning, especially being turned in a direction that doesn’t match the direction the vehicle is going. For some, it’s banking or turns. Or how long the ‘problem’ motion lasts.

This is a fast, but smooth roller coaster with pretty much constant banking. It has a backwards launch, which wasn’t a problem for me, but might be an issue/disorienting for some.
It’s pretty much constant banking turn going right into another banking turn. Many of the turns are pretty tight and there are no lifts or slower spots to give a breather between banking. There are screens everywhere you look and the ride car uses ‘Omni-motion’ like Haunted Mansion to point your ride car toward the screen/area you are supposed to look like. Where you are pointed is often not the same direction as the vehicle is traveling.
The difference compared to Haunted Mansion is the speed of motion - it’s one thing to have your doom buggy sideways compared to the track while going slow. It’s very different to do the same thing on a fast, banked turn.

Guests who don’t have issues with those specific elements might not have issues.
And some who haven’t had issues with the elements separately or slowly might have issues with the combination.

This Disney Parks YouTube video shows the ride motion on an engineering trial outside so the ride motion is very visible. If I had seen this before riding, I would not have ridden

If you have issues with motion on Everest or Aerosmith (I do) then grab a bottle of ginger ale. EPCOT is the only park I've found ginger ale. Drink some before and after Guardians and you should be good. Best discovery I've made!!!

Hi all, going to WDW in a few days. Been several times before, but never done Cosmic Rewind. My kid really wants to do this ride together, but I am not sure after reading all the reviews. Having in mind that Flight of Passage is one of my favourite rides, can you compare them? We have tickets for Epcot After Hours, so we can do the ride...
I struggle with pretty bad motion sickness and I wear the patch when I go to Disneynir Universal. I had no problem with either. The only issue I ever had was RD’ing AK and riding EE about 4x in a row.
