Ok so there was debate over if it was/is a good thing. Knowing we were going July 2015 I opened the account with 10 and then have slowly added 700 in gift cards From target. Fast forward to today when I could book I pulled out my CC just in case so I didn't have to call, well there was a field to put DVA number in used 200 to reserve my reservation no big deal super easy. new balance reflected immediately to 510 and email confirmation received. worked perfect and smooth. Now to buy a million more gift cards lol.

We had opened DVA over month ago . Last week we called membership to pay trip dining plan and culinary demonstration for our September trip . Just provided account number to cast member and then everything was done in second . It was so quick and saved time. We like it very much.:cheer2:

I had read some bad reviews on it when it was new....so I wanted to report back so glad you had a good experience also :)

How long before your trip do you need to open it? We are going mid-Dec.

what are the advantages to opening one? TIA:goodvibes

I suppose having the account would be for those who don't have a trip planned, but still want money ear marked for Disney. I did see where Disney gave a $20 gift card for every $1000 spent up to $500 through 2015. That was the only incentive I saw, which, if I was planning a trip - yes, I'd run the funds through to get those dollars.

I think the biggest perceived advantage around here is that it is an easy way to combine Disney gift cards into one payment. So if you are using a Target REDcard and/or Swagbucks and the like to earn Disney cards for a discount or free, you can enter all those $50 cards into the DVA account, which makes payments MUCH easier and faster, since you don't have to read off all the numbers on the back of the card to some poor CM!

BINGO! :) pixiedust:

I'm using mine for DCL and we go through Costco and I was used to calling in like 10-20 gift cards at a time, for them to then call in to DCL to apply. This saves me a ton of time by entering the gift cards (after buying from Target with my Redcard 5% off, earning through Swagbucks/Perks, etc.) then applying them online to my DV account and it's ONE number to later call in to Costco/DCL.

The added $20 bonus gift card per $1000 saved and spent towards the vacation is extra nice too!

I am using my disney account to consolidate the GC I am buying at a 10% discount. I am also looking forward to the GCs I will get once I use the $$.

As you can see by my signature, my next planned Disney trip is far off. (And right now, it's probably no earlier than 2021. But I don't think it's too early to start a DVA.

My question:

Besides lodging, park tickets and gift cards, what else can you use your DVA account for? We'd like to stay onsite next time. I'd love to stay at the Contemporary or another monorail resort. However, I'd also be happy to rent points and stay at BLT or another DVC resort. Even better, to trade into a DVC resort (we belong to RCI). If that's the case, we can't use DVA funds for lodging.

If I start depositing a $50 gift card into a DVA account every month, I'll have about $3,200 in my DVA by January 2021. That will buy me the park tickets. And I can start saving more once we know when exactly we'll go.

Last trip was last October for my DGD's fifth birthday. We said our next trip will be our next grandchild's fifth birthday. As it stands right now, the absolute earliest it can be is: May 2020. And I don't think that's happening. I'm seriously looking at 2021 now.

I am a DVC Member so I do not have a room to pay for, so to speak. I do have about $1500 in Disney gift cards in $50 increments that I plan to use for our food and AP upgrades in October. Once I am on property, can the DVA be used in place of my credit card for room charging privileges? Also, can it be used at the ticket windows/guest services to upgrade/pay for tickets? It seems like having just the one number would make it very simple, but if it doesn't work, then I am stuck with ALL of my vacation money tied up and inaccessible, which would be a VERY bad thing:headache:.

Thoughts?

It sounds like you can have your DVA converted into a single Disney Gift Card, which you could take to your hotel's front desk to pay off your bill.

I kind of have a similar question. It says the account can be used for dining purchase but does it mean just if you buy a DDP? I want to use it for out of pocket but not sure how it works.

So my situation is a little different...I'm renting DVC points for our stay because we are considering buying. Will I be able to use the Disney savings account to pay for the DDP or Memory maker because the owner has to add these things to the ressie?
TIA. Nanette

I have never heard of this before. Could someone please explain what it is? Thanks!

Can I ask you where you are able to get them for 10% off? Also, someone mentioned Costco. Will Costco let you use the account to pay through them?

I'm on the fence whether to open a DVA or not. We're planning a cruise with a 4/4/2015 sail date so we need to pay by 1/10 (I think).

We get gas points for gift cards, so I'd like to do gift cards and load them to our "room" so that it's ready when I get there, but it sounds like most folks that load up ahead of time are using a DVA?

Would I qualify if I opened today to get the bonuses when I pay for the cruise 1/10? Will this work for anything on the cruise or just the fare? Also, has anyone gotten their bonuses/gift cards after qualifying, and if so, how long did it take?

Thanks :thumbsup2
