I love credit cards so much!

I'm a bit late on this, but I have some thoughts.

I'm also a new owner, just buying in back in March. We haven't even had our first stay yet (that's coming February). We have a small direct contract and a larger resale contract. To me, the reallocation is just part of the deal. I did a lot of research on DVC before we bought in, and one of the things that was constantly reinforced is that reallocations can happen at any time, so always make sure you buy a few more points than you need for your typical reservation to serve as a cushion. That's why I'm a little surprised at the strong reaction everyone is having to this. I get it's a little slimy to not mention anything about the reallocation at the annual meeting when it was clearly already decided though.

I would stay off the DVC board for a while if it's depressing you. You bought in because you thought it was a good idea. You (hopefully) did research before buying - I assume you did because you bought resale and the average person buying DVC direct likely has no idea resale even exists. If DVC was a good idea for you, your family, and your vacation patterns earlier this year, it still is. This reallocation may cost you a few more points when you go back in 2020. Maybe in 2022 there's another reallocation that lowers the points cost to even fewer than it costs now. You just don't know.

The lawsuit thing caught me off guard.

Yes, they mean the direct (from DVC) price per point is increasing. I believe CCV is going up $6/point. Not sure about the other resorts, but really if you're buying any other resort it makes much more sense to go resale. The general advice is, if you can plan your trips 10-11 months in advance, you love WDW, and you know you will go back regularly, DVC might make sense. From there it's direct vs resale - most people can't make use of the savings the Gold AP will offer over the life of the contract compared to the difference in price per point over resale, and it's a perk that could go away at any time. So the only real reason to go direct is if you love CCV (or Riviera, or whatever is currently being sold at the time), and you know you want to stay there for most of your stays.

Otherwise, buy resale, and buy during a recession or during a big sell-off which lowers prices (which, never know, could happen now with all this reallocation stuff).

I agree about the discount should be calculated. My deciding factor in just deciding to buy in was that with my husband who is a bed princess (king bed or his own bed) if we wanted to stay on site we would need minimum two rooms. Cheapest I could get two rooms at a moderate would be around $150 at CBR. I know a lot of you have done the agency deals etc but even with discounts that is still a lot. We were moderate in two rooms or off site. For us going multiple times a year right now and wanting to stay on site DVC made sense. But yes I wish we had bought sooner!

Thanks yes I did a ton of research which is why I bought OKW as direct (like @PolyRob wanted the benefits for as long as they are there) and then found the larger BLT resale. On our May trip we even went to the resorts and talked them into letting us see the rooms. It was not even like I just bought CCV after doing the tour...I got on the waiting list to buy OKW because it worked best for our family. It is definitely the sky is falling mentality on the DVC section where they all keep feeding on each other.

I posted here for a measured outlook. So thank you everyone!

Sorry, not to derail the thread on the DVC points reallocation too much, but I did read a few of the threads last night and I can definitely see how many people are upset. I saw a chart that someone had done comparing the 2019 and 2020 points, and it seemed that almost all of the nights and room types went up, except for the higher point seasons for 2 bedrooms. So for the vast majority of members, the cost per night is going up (myself included). I can see why many are upset. And why not lower 1 bedroom costs when they're the last to book? We don't always stay the same nights or time of year so it's not like I'm directly losing 1 night or anything, but I will definitely feel the effect. Not sure I think a lawsuit is called for or would be successful, but a better explanation of the reasoning would be appreciated. I'm (still) on the WL (supposedly 4th on the list) to add on at BCV, and will probably go forward with the add on, although this is making me think twice.

So my mom’s dog was hospitalized over Christmas, racking up some serious $$. Now he needs follow up with a cardiologist. I just got my mom onboard with the CF 5% bonus categories and now I hit her with “you could get a card with a $150 bonus for $500 spend, or a $500 bonus for $4k spend”. She replies “how long”. I tell her and we text back and forth about her bills and would $4k be possible (she is retired on SSI)
She texts back “Order me the $4k one” :rotfl2:
I applied for her, instant approval party:

Sadly I don’t currently hold CSP so couldn’t refer her. (Maybe I should have just told her about CFU only)
Instead a DISer will be getting a nice surprise

Congrats party:

My Southwest Biz finally arrived. I know when I app'd I used the same email I have associated with my Chase biz acct (CIP). Can I/How do I add this card to that account? I went to the verify card link, logged in with that acct and it says no cards to activate. The congrats email is still siting in my inbox associated with that acct. I do remember that it prompted me to set up an acct right after approval and I declined, confused because I thought it could go into my current biz account.

Did you use the same SSN or EIN with this Biz application as your other Biz cards? Your situation is odd as my SW Biz showed up in my account before the card came. Same with my SW personal card.

Giftcardmall earns 3x UR on the CIP.
Apparently it’s not on gift card mall and Dh didn’t order it yet. He said it’s on raise.com or something like that. Do you know if the CIP would work for them too?

I don’t think Raise triggers any category bonuses on your cards right now. So use an MSR card if you’ve got one. And go through a cash back portal like Ebates.

Hey everyone. Happy New Year. Just catching up after the holidays. A few updates:

I applied for CIP #2 with EIN on December 1. Went to 2 weeks then 7-10 days. Thought it was a denial so applied and was approved for Cap One Venture as I had a tuition payment due. Get the CIP letter and they wanted documentation. Faxed it in. Went to 2 weeks then 7-10 days again. So I called and they wanted Welcome letter for EIN. So had to call and he letter and faxed that in. Then waited and was finally approved on the 26 th. So now I was trying to figure out how to MS to meet the spend. Well don’t have to do that anymore. As soon as card arrives buying a new sleep number bed for $5000. We are way overdue for a new mattress. We have been sleeping on a waterbed fo the past 25 years. Get older it just doesn’t work anymore. So we are splurging on this.

In other news. Did the 30% and 10% Chase Staples deal. Bought a $50 gift card. Just got email that I will get $15 credit. So no stacking. But, I did hit the 30% deal before the 10% one. So not sure if that mattered.

I'm pretty sure I did. I'm 95% certain I used SSN for my CIP, but I truly can't remember. That's irritating on it's own because if I could remember (and had screenshot) I could double dip CIP. I want to say I was even logged into my acct when I did the SW app. I've been watching for it to appear and it hasn't.

Right now we don’t have any MSR cards

I haven't been on this thread in I don't know how long, but I'm kicking off the new year with instant approval for the Arrival+ with the 70K mile bonus! I was debating between that and the CapOne Venture, but the extra $200 in sign up bonus and ostensibly easier approval led me to choose the Arrival+. After the $5K spend, that will be $800 towards our Airbnb in London next summer.

I’d call Chase. You need to have IT help you add the card to your login. My dad has had to do this with all his Chase Biz cards for some reason.

I am beyond confused and need your help with this question.... awhile back I posted about the young friend(mentally disabled) who had gone online and apped for TWO SWA cc's.... and got approved for both. So without knowing what he had done,I guessed that he did a biz and personal app,one right after the other. Nope. He now has TWO priority cards in his name!
How did this happen? Only one card has his rr# printed on it. Again,he's high functioning, and capable of being an "almost" adult.
Any guesses as to what is going on,and how to proceed? I'm thinking call and cancel the 2nd? Yes? No? Or will chase catch it and cancel it?

OK, the waiting was killing me and not sure there was any reason to wait so I applied for the SW Plus to complete my CP (Biz was approved earlier this month and waiting to pay for Jan Real Estate taxes). APPROVED instantly (that never happens for me) with crazy 26K CL. Like others, I've lowered my other CLs (do have the highest amount on the CSR in case I need to move some around). Used the link from @Andysol (THANKS!!), will verify that it is the in-flight offer over SM.
Quoting myself to let everyone know the link worked. 50k RR for 2k spend.
