It is, but at least still purple, although I have to admit I prefer the purple of the SPG Biz. Oh well-I still love my purple/pink/plat line up-delights my girly girl heart :D
yeah DD6 was with me at the store today and says can I use my card. Told her no we need to use Daddy's new card. She says well I do like the color better but its not metal like mine. She is an AU on CSP. DD4 then says where's my card. I tell her one day I'll get her one. Tempted to go ahead and add her as an AU on CSP so she has one with her name.

Didn't get the bonus for adding an AU was hoping that it would give the points but didn't receive any.

So did you book some nights with points and some with cash? Or did you just book them all at the cash rate...or maybe something else I’m not thinking of, lol.
I booked the whole stay and they let you use that slider bar to say how many points you want to use. We used all 241k points and the rest says how much is left (in yen) but it comes out to around $600 left over in cash to pay for the rest. I don’t believe we pay that until we arrive though. It’s free cancellation so we will either switch to the cheaper room or wait until we have more points and maybe try to cancel and rebook. Dh said he’s fine paying the $600 but obviously I won’t pay it if I don’t have to. We also could cancel, book only some nights that we can pay in points, and try to book the rest through chase

I know you seem to have your heart set on this and it is a big trip, so if you can splurge, then go for it girlfriend.
If you want my opinion, not that you do, but I am bored today...haha. I'd never blow nearly twice as many points on an upgraded room unless it was spectacular....I am thinking overwater bungalow spectacular. That pic of the room doesn't look exciting to me at all.

We do have very diff perspectives though. So that taints our views. I am accustomed to having to cover travel for a family of 6. You just have to cover the 2 of you, so you can easily blow points and get enough for another trip, where that takes me alot longer.

We are alike in that I hate making decisions like that. In our house I make the travel decisions. I was glad DH couldn't get the days off to head down to FL ahead of our cruise b/c I couldn't decide...for the life of me...wdw or universal. :rotfl:
Thanks for your input! At this point I’m almost seriously considering switching to the normal room. We won’t be in the room hardly at all and we could save the other points for something else. I’m going to keep the booking for now and see how many points we save up before we go.

Dh has a conference in March at an Orlando hotel. We are extending 3-4 nights past his conference for just us (woot, kid free!!!)! If anyone has dvc points they want to rent, send me a pm. I'm looking at that option since we cannot use our UR's for a room :( My dates for needing a Disney room are March 29- Apr 1 or March 29- Apr 2. Thank you!

Oh my goodness, YES!!!!! These are things we've never been able to do. If I can find us a decent price room, I'm so excited to book some special meals and experiences :)
We did that once on a Universal trip my parents were on. They put the girls to bed. We actually just shared a couple apps and a couple of desserts to save $$ (probably to the surprise of nobody here LOL) and we watched the fireworks in between the two lol.

Hey we’ll be at WDW March 23-30! Have fun!

The point to holding on to the URs is that I don’t necessarily have a use for the cash right now and I could come up with a use for them towards travel. I’d much rather get $9,000 in value out of them than $6,000.

True, but they could drop in value as well. Even worse to have 600k points worth $3k. I’m not saying cash them all out but for a $600 upgrade, free is free to me. You could also use $600 of discounted Disney GCs to pay and reimburse yourself for what you paid for them, effectively increasing your redemption above .01 pp

Just finished booking our Alaska cruise excursions. Booked 2 thru UR portal, rates were close to cash booking though non refundable, which freaked me out a bit. The third port had limited options available thru UR portal, so I chose a vendor recommended by multiple people on the DCL thread, and charged it on CSR. I’ll get 3x points and reimburse myself for the $400 by cashing out URs. I’m just excited to do all our excursions for free!

I think I may cancel our Yachtsman Steakhouse reservation for our trip to partially offset the room upgrade cost. I had that penciled in as a $187 meal w/ tip. I love a good steak but it would probably sit well with my wallet if I replaced that with a $40 QS meal...

I've got a little over 2k United miles that are expiring Dec. 31st and no way to use them or earn more before the deadline. Is cashing out for giftcards my best bet?

In the past I have regretted spending money on better rooms at Disney. We just weren't there enough to enjoy it. It was money and not points so that could possibly make a difference since points aren't as tangible as green cash.

This past week in Vegas we were given an AMAZING suite due to the front desk originally sending us up to a room that was already occupied. We spent MANY hours there (me mainly in the jacuzzi and DH sitting by the full length window, people watching) but only because we were in a location that we had been to several times before, had a very flexible schedule (the ONLY thing set in concrete was getting our Global Entry), and we were more than happy to just relax. This reservation was made on points and we still made it a priority to find time to enjoy the room. If we had a packed itinerary this room would have been totally wasted on us.

Somewhere in the middle of these two examples is your situation and only you can decide how you want it to go....If it were me I would save the extra money or points for the next trip. If the travel bug has bit you, you aren't going to let a family slow you down. You WILL be traveling again! ::yes::

Thank you ;-) We've not had many kid-free trips in our marriage so I appreciate every one we get. We won't do the parks (kids would go beserk) but I'd like a Disney resort vaca. That is good for me!!
We’ve never done a resort only trip but I think it would be a nice relaxing trip if we did. I don’t think we could go and not go to the parks though lol

I think there are some easy ways to extend them -- maybe buying something through the United shopping portal? I know I did that for some Southwest points a while ago.

Disney merchandise resellers: APs are being revoked for merchandise reselling. I hadn’t heard this before but tbh it’s not my jam... https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...-souvenirs-oc-register.3724091/#post-60024336

Idk if we even have any here but even if we have some as lurkers and they haven’t heard yet FYI. If it’s happening at DL it’s prob coming to WDW soon...
I’m happy to see this after all of the Halloween merch that was sold out on our trip
