Lol - that really wouldn’t change my opinion. The SFF accounting system and GAAP rules we follow do not allow us to attribute bank bonus income to travel...yes that sounds crazy and it is true hahaha.

It’s really not about the cost - we can do it if we want...it’s just that I’m also cheap (like SUPER cheap)...and so now that I’ve psychologically set a price for this trip in my mind it’s hard for me to spend $600 more now.

Then the questions should be since it's bucket list - will you get it cheaper, what if you can't EVER use points for it without cashing out for points. And will the kids remember it now or is it better to wait until they are older. And will you be in the room/make yourselves be in the room enough to enjoy the view.

I get the being cheap but if it'll cost more later and the other two answers are yes, it makes the most sense to do it now.

If it's bucket list, then it means a lot to your family. But will you be in the room, like @afan suggested, to really enjoy the theme park view? I know for us, we have gotten to where we tour the parks much longer, as our kids have gotten older, and spending money on views and amazing pools aren't worth as much as they used to be.

Also, CR isn't getting any cheaper. If this is really a bucket list item, there may be no better time than now to do it.

Every time ups or usps leaves another box I ask myself “what in the world is in this box?” I am keeping a list of what is ordered, but with 4 kids I don’t even remember what is coming.

Same! And it's not just my Amazon packages but my inlaws have prime also so they order a ton and send it out to us and my mom, who doesn't have prime, but still orders everything from Amazon. I've driven up to 10-12 boxes on my porch. Even the ones I have ordered, I'm clueless what is in them :D

@Albort My twitter has found you and is recommending I follow you.

*insert feel special face here*

Hit 2 MSRs today - a Gold and a CIP! 2 more to go...

@SouthFayetteFan - what's GAAP stand for?

GAAP is a standard for companies to follow when it comes to financial reporting.
GAAP stands for Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

I don’t actually follow those in my personal accounting - just an accounting joke! I do reconcile our expenses to the penny each year.

That’s part of my struggle - we’ve already mapped out our touring plan, FPs and dining so I’d have to see if we could actually be in the room to enjoy the fireworks at least one night.

I know there's been some discussion about boxed.com recently with people signing up and using AMEX offers and such...

FYI: Just so you're aware, you can refer a spouse to boxed using your link...they get the $15 off their first order and you get $15 off a future order! It was somewhat vague on household limits in the T&Cs so I just wanted to make everybody aware that it DOES work.

Ok, amex support link help...
logged into DH's account and clicked to generate the support link. Followed it and the only card showing up was his spg biz. Nothing else was under the "explore other cards with referrals" button. What did I do wrong?

ETA: NVM, figured it out

I had gotten this too but still not able to figure out what I might be doing wrong...

If you're an IHG card holder, check your email. My husband got an email and if he tweeted a picture with the appropriate hashtags, he would get 5,000 IHG points. He did and the points have already showed up. It must be targeted as I have an IHG card too and I haven't gotten the email. So YMMV.

I got this too. Will definitely take an extra 5000 points :flower1:

Ha I had 3 packages from Amazon today, in 2 deliveries (all from same order). Got the “your package is 9 stops away, arriving by 4 pm”. Map showed it was a block away (9 stops in a block?) and it arrived after 5:30. Not too accurate.

I like it too that my Amazon deliveries are connected to my Alexa. So when she is flashing green that tells me my package has been delivered.

Quiet Friday here. We have a very cold, wet, possibly snowy weekend ahead. I'm going to need ya'll to keep me entertained...
It’s going to be cold here but I am very glad the weather is staying south for a change since it’s girlfriend time at the Hershey Spa.on Mon and then I will have met my Biz Gold spend. It was a long and exhausting night here since the stomach bug has gotten DS and somehow DH managed to sleep through the worse part. I definitely know I was not cut out to be a nurse since cleaning up his upset stomach made mine upset. And now I will have more time to kill since I was supposed to go to a Christmas party at the National Aquarium tonight and finAlly use my Uber credits but now I’ll be home with DS.

My DH tells me I’m Cheap all the time...I prefer Thrifty or Frugal...::yes::.....comes from being raised by two parents who were depression era babies, bought houses, cars etc for cash vs DH brought up by parents who were the exact opposite with much debit. Makes for interesting discussions about money in our home

LOL! I thought it was me! Of course, DH doesn't help when he orders stuff and doesn't tell me!

I don't have a ton but between ordering gifts, essentials from Amazon, jumping on GC deals, and keeping track of what offers are on what card...I'm having trouble keeping up

I am too, I think it's just a sign of the season...hopefully the mystery packages will slow down after the holiday!

My DH and I are the opposite...I do term it "fiscally conservative" but he knows I mean CHEAP:laughing:. We're definitely the grasshopper and ant when it comes to finances but so far it works. That might change when he retires but so far so good-I like to think we balance each other out and he has developed a taste for airline lounges and fancy hotels so I've been a little bit of a bad influence:rolleyes:

But this is a bucket list room for us (and we’ve stayed at GF before). Gah why did you ruin everything Chase! I was going to use my URs on this room.

Have you reviewed this bucket list? Is it still a high priority one? If so, I'd consider it. If not, then while, no, it's never going to get cheaper but it might not be as sweet if you're ruminating over the $600 non UR difference.

While I've never stayed in the CR castle view several years ago stayed in a Poly castle view (prior to the Villas being built) and it was pretty awesome, I cannot lie. Was it one of the top 10 events in my life? Not a chance, but maybe top 10 of Disney trips.

Hmm :scratchin... Contemporary Resort theme park view now available for the 2nd part of our split stay. It would cost $600 to upgrade from our current room at Grand Floridian...

I’m so torn...on one hand I’m cheap! But this is a bucket list room for us (and we’ve stayed at GF before). Gah why did you ruin everything Chase! I was going to use my URs on this room.
do the upgrade. use discounted gift cards. reimburse cost of those with URs. someone on this boards taught me that. :P

In my case I was clicking referral for the wrong card...spg biz in this case. Not sure why, because I initiated referral from the plat offers area. For some reason, that was only showing me referral to spg biz. I then noticed a arrow on that second screen (after clicking offers area referral) up near the pic of the cc, that allowed me to scroll though the cards. I scrolled to the plat and then it gave me a plethora of options to app for. Hope that helps!
