I love credit cards so much!

Almost travel time for us!

I am teleworking today so in between trying to wrap up work projects until next Mon, I have dropped DS off at school, trying to complete packing and cleaning the house. But can't wait to get our 10:30 pm flight to Orlando this evening and escape the cold for a bit. It's supposed to be the coldest Thanksgiving here in MD since the 1920s so I think we made the right decision to get out of dodge!

For us it is showing 32 and sunny TG day with Friday at 38 and Sat at 53. I'd prefer 60ties and 70ties.

Yes, this is highly unusual Turkey Day weather. Usually we get a heat wave into the 60's, of course because the oven is on all day :p, so we have the windows open when we sit down to eat! Thursday's supposed to be the coldest day this week and drop below freezing. I can't remember the last time that happened. Good call going south :)

Same for us. High of 38 here. That oven really heats up our one room house though, so we'll still probably be cutting the heat off haha.

A few questions ...
Do you know when you opened the cards ?
What airline do you usually fly...I’m thinking DW since you have 3 cards...but don’t want to assume anything
Are you looking to use points/rewards towards only a Disney trip or other travel too
What is your total credit limit on the cards vs household income ?

We've got some room in terms of credit limit/income. Many of the older cards have smaller limits. Wwe're mainly southwest flyers. We don't fly much these days as we have DD with some special needs. However, we've been keeping cards open for the hotel nights/perks because we have to stay over near hospitals pretty regularly, and they have basically every hotel chain out there so we actually get to uses those free nights that are lower point values. Our big trip is scheduled for Feb 2020 and as of now the plan is to use our marriott points for the swan and our southwest miles for the flights. If chase changes their Disney agreement before then, we'd use our UR for that trip so we can include the dining and tickets. As it stands right now, we're paying those out of pocket. It just kills me knowing I've got college tuition coming up and $1300/month in daycare that could blast out a min spend.

Finished the MSR on my CSR yesterday. Once everything posts I should be close to $4700 on it and my 2nd statement closes 12/3. That’s almost two weeks from now. Hopefully that’s enough time for the bonus to post to my account. I don’t think I’ve read about any more substantial bonus delays like there were in September.

We haven’t gotten the bill for the driveway work we had done last month yet. Paying that bill was the plan for meeting most of P2’s MSR on his Amex Plat. We have a long way to go on that one. Hoping we get that bill soon. We’ll also be putting a snowblower purchase on there in the near future as well though.

I haven't seen delays posted any lately, we seem to be back to status quo for now. At least on the UR cards you can see in the UR portal when it goes pending. Hard sitting on a partner card that doesn't show anything until the statement closes so you're left guessing.

I just redeemed ~135,000 UR points for our Disneyland trip next November. I could have used less points for a smaller, non-refundable room, but really need the option of changing/canceling. If we get closer to our dates and are ready to set it in stone, at that point could I cancel the suite we have and book a non-refundable option for less points? I guess this makes my decision of whether to cancel or keep my CSR in January!

@Lain what would you say sweet spot is for AMEX triple dip? Patiently waiting to refer my P2 to Gold card to grab SW gift card in December, then again early 2019.

So do you think Chase knows how often we call the status line for applications LOL??? They are killing me! I don't care if I have the card in my hand, but I want to know it's approved and for the 50k, so I can actually use my BIZ for some expenses now (not coming close to MSR yet), since I have no other MSR's at the moment and plenty of things to buy.

did u guys login via mobile? i believe it only works with mobile app( remember this is the Chase app, not ChasePay app).
i am able to add my Offers to my Marriott Card.

I am on the app. It works for my accounts, but DH doesn't have any.

changing what I eat and the way I eat, I was very successful in losing 50 pounds and maintaining it over the last 5 or 6 years.

I'm guessing with 4 gyms, one or more might have what you need. I got back into 5-6 week by having a personal trainer 2-3/week. Harder to cancel if I know I'm getting charged for it (they charge if it's same day) plus motivation if I know someone's waiting for me! I wish I could get my diet on track...keep hoping for Willy Wonka to finally release the meal gum that would deliver appropriate nutrients, calories and taste. Still waiting for that :teeth:

my son...who lives in Orlando is flying up Thanksgiving Day...Just looked and made sure there is a winter coat here for him.

Good thinking---when I was still in med school my grandmother died in December. I flew from Texas to Missouri and of course didn't have a coat or boots or anything that snow requires. Fortunately with 10 aunts and a zillion cousins and after having my heart blessed, I was kitted out.
Sounds like he has a smart mom!

The gym. I've avoided gyms and exercise for most of my life. I'm also one of those who has diabetes type 2 and should exercise, but with changing what I eat and the way I eat, I was very successful in losing 50 pounds and maintaining it over the last 5 or 6 years.

Looking at the scale keeps me fairly grounded.

But - I still need exercise and I just don't want to go out.

So, I've been thinking of joining a gym and making it part of my morning routine. They are all around me - I could actually walk to 4 of them within a mile of me. Then I start thinking that what I really want is something that is geared towards my age group and more social....not sure if that exists. I guess I'll have to do some homework and trials to find the best fit. I want moderate exercise.

I like planet fitness but it's do on your own. The 24 hiur fitness my mom used to go to had classes and someoe were age based. L.A. fitness has group classes too and I would see a range of ages. Part of it is the gym and time of day. Pf tends younger even around 9am weekdays. L.A. and 24 was more retirees. I'd tour at the time of day you'd most often go.

Pf only does bank withdrawal, no cc for dues. Unsure of the others.

Yikes, potentially first SW CP fail of the season on r/churning today - poster didn't take into account the returns "issue" with Chase and met the gross spend already. Tried pushing the statement date out but this early in the year not sure if that's enough. Hopefully they report back on how it turns out. Here's the post for details: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9yfh64/daily_question_thread_november_19_2018/ea253tm/
:sad2: well that was REALLY fast.....

The only down side with booking it through chase is there is no cancellation
Oh really? I have seen that option, but there has always been a refundable option too. Well if not, compare booking through hilton with money and taking a statment credit for it. May still come out ahead of the cost of a preferred room reward.

ETA: Maybe that 70k barclays would be a good option since it is a travel charge eraser. I have no idea what the cash price of your room is, so just tossing out ideas.

Could someone pm me the call in number? I had heard that the one I used in the summer to get my Biz Plat wasn't working anymore. Going to pull the trigger, I think.
if u havent gotten the numbers yet, PM me. @Lain give me his list.

reddit seems to suggest Dec 1-10 is the best.

Looks like doc is confirming 5/24 expansion. RIP Chase...
