I love credit cards so much!

Just received an email from Amex on the New Gold card - states that the new annual fee of $250 will be charged for renewal on or after 4/1/2019. I am pretty sure my renewal is March 1st so hoping this works out.

Sweet. My renewal is usually charged in January/February or thereabouts.

Ok, I've never had to deal with parking fees at a hotel. I'm comparing some Marriott options... they all list the parking fee as daily? Is it really daily or nightly? It seems silly I'd be charged 2 days of parking on a one night stay...

Ok this is huge if everything tracks correctly: You can refer to just about any AmEx card even if you don't have it! This is an interesting concept to say the least. For example, I can offer a link to apply for the SPG Biz card either from my SPG Biz and get 20k Stariott points OR I can generate a generic link from my ED card, you choose the SPG Biz and I'd get 10k MR points instead. (Offhand I wonder if you could go through your own link and then just pick out the SPG Biz for the person and give them the direct link to that app to avoid bad tracking... or would that goof you up more? who knows)

Seems like you have to do it through the Refer a Friend link at the bottom of the page, if you do the usual linkage it'll link directly to that card, from the reports so far. I've only tried the RAF page from my ED card and that new link now sends me to a page where I can apply for the ED or pick from a dropdown any other card that offers a referral - even business cards.

Haven't tried what happens from my SPG Biz, if it has to be a AmEx owned card or if cobrands work too. I just find it interesting that you can refer to cobrands as well, I'd have thought it'd be just AmEx cards as a "family", like they were doing with the SPG, Delta, Hilton, etcs before. Interesting times.

ETA: Ah ha! Works on co brands, at least SPG, with the caveat that you can only refer within that family BUT I can give personal links from my business card. So my SPG Biz link starts with the SPG Biz card but I can use the "Looking for a personal card?" link to pop over to the Lux and SPG cards. This seems to make self referrals even more bananas.

Ok, so I need someone to guide my decision here...

I need return flights from our cruise still. My options are delta at a great time and they do DCL onboard checkin. Or SW at 3:30 and we have 2 Cps but we have to sit around the airport for hours plus the prices are high. SW the following day like we normally do but dec is a crapshoot for a pool day at wdw and I'm not paying $600 for park tickets and 2 hotel rooms too. Frontier is an option, also a late flight at 4pm, but cheap. We will do DCL bus or car service so as not to deal with rental car shuttle at port. That annoys me at just the thought of it. DH hate Dis Springs but he would be happy to do a fishing excursion or something at wdw.

1- book thru delta total 52,500 (not sure how I turn my stash into delta points...I have URs, 14k MRs, marriott, and hilton points)
2- book delta thru UR total 48,879 URs basic economy
3- book delta thru UR total 53,554 URs (2 seats main cabin for me and DD2, and 4 basic Econ)
4- SWRR 72,641
5- Frontier thru UR total 41,280
6- Frontier cash out URs 36,000 (go to airport to purchase to save $19/ticket)

Obviously factor in bag cost for delta and frontier.
I could use the 14k MRs to book 1 seat on the delta flight thru their portal...thus decreasing above URs needed.
I also have the $200 AMEX plat airline credit that could be used somewhere.

This will surprise no one but I vote option #3, unless y'all are the travelers who only do carry on bags (?). If carryons aren't a big deal then I guess option #2.

IF and this is a big IF...you have 120,000 Marriott points that translates into 50,000 Delta Skymiles (5,000 mile bonus on now 60,000 points [old spg 20,000] x 2) but probably not the best use of Marriott points (except to me ) and there is a time delay (usually a couple of days but officially they have ?2 weeks) to transfer. So Delta's pricing can change in a minute, much less the time to take to transfer Marriott, assuming you don't mind squandering Marriott. Whew, hope that made sense!

MR to DL is almost instant and the excise fee will be $8.40 so that plus $5.60 would pay for one basic economy fare (assuming it's 14,000 skymiles or less) then paying for the other 5 with UR (or transfer a bucketload of marriott points) which is also an option.

Remember, you must have picked Delta as your airline to use the platinum benefit...if you did then if you need to pay for extra bags (for the 2 folks NOT in Basic Economy) this would be a good use of the credit; the $5.60 for taxes for the award fare also counts.

So with good time (although that can always change with Delta!) and onboard check in and because I'm a delta fan girl I vote for option #3. As always, can't help with SW, Frontier, etc questions but happy to help with Delta :)

I've generally seen it charged per 24 hour period. So as long as you check in/out within 24 hours you only get the fee once, but if you park your car at 1pm and leave at 2pm the next day, you could get 2x the daily charge. YMMV - it is dependent on the hotel's policies. Might be worth a call, depending on how expensive parking is (in Boston its $40-65 a night, so I'm always careful when I go there).

Whoa! I'm looking at $29-$35 currently.

I just realized I still have a $50 Alamo gift cert from Daily Getaways... 2017 :crazy2:

Apparently I need a place to track things like that/Uber GCs...

This is why I like Sbux/Uber/Netflix/Amazon type GCs - I get them and can immediately add them to my account. That way I don't forget and find a 2.5 year old gift card in my important papers file :rotfl:

AMEX SELF-REFERRAL UPDATE: You can now self-refer to ANY card

This will sound somewhat complex...but follow me here:

1) If you hold any AMEX non-cobrand business OR personal card: (Gold, Platinum, Everyday, EDP, BCE, BCP, BGR, Biz Plat, Biz Green, etc...)

- You can now refer to ANY AMEX Card. This crosses over from business to personal. You can refer a BCP from a Biz Plat. You can refer an SPG business from an Everyday card. The possibilities are limitless.

2) If you hold an AMEX co-brand business OR personal card: (Delta, SPG, Hilton)

- You can now refer to ANY card in that family business or personal. Previously you couldn't cross over from biz to personal. You can refer Hilton biz from Hilton aspire. You can refer SPG Lux from SPG biz.

3) The theory here is you can also self-refer to these cards. This means that once you hold one AMEX non-cobrand you can self refer to ALL other AMEX cards. Of course, self referrals could stop tracking at some point...but for now all reports indicate that this will work.

THIS is probably the best explanation out there right now: http://travelinpoints.com/one-amex-card-generates-all-american-express-referrals-huge-if-it-works/

DOC has one up too: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/new-...ferrals-program-now-crosses-over-to-any-card/

I will be discussing with DISchurner mods on what to do about our DISchurners AMEX thread as this could necessitate a change...

Tagging @LuckyMamaInDE — it looks like you didn’t have to wait long; and @mmmears — I know you’ve been eyeing this card:

American Express Gold Card 50,000 Points Signup Bonus Available via Incognito or via Referral

A 50k MR points after $2k MSR and up to $100 statement credit offer on the new Amex Gold/Rose Gold Card is already available via referral links and incognito mode. This is a way better offer than the public 25k MR offer with the same statement credit and spend. The downside is that the Amex Gold/Rose Gold Card no longer comes with its first year AF waived, and the AF increased to $250. However, as @calypso726 put it, with the airline and dining credits, this is essentially a $30 AF card. The up to $100 statement credit from your dining purchases in the first 3 months will help to offset the first year AF, too. And the updated earning structure with 4x MR at supermarkets and restaurants make this a strong daily driver card.

For those who want the new Amex Gold/Rose Gold Card, the obvious way to apply is by referral and hopefully using one of our community’s “support links” so you don’t have to fiddle with incognito modes and browser settings. Using a support link gets you the same offer as you’d get if you spent minutes or hours of your time trying to pull the incognito offer, and this is the best offer on this card right now.

Those who have the Amex Gold/Rose Gold Card, please post your updated links to DISchurners. Those looking to apply, please show your support and appreciation to this wonderfully helpful community by using a fellow DISchurner’s link.

Thank you.

Thanks! I'm going back-and-forth with myself about this card. I really want to hold out for a 100K Plat for either dh or me. But this new Gold's categories really fit in with our spending (4x supermarkets!) and we would use the airline and dining credits (monthly Shake Shack date!). We're both 2/24. Dh is a not-terribly-willing P2 who said he'd be willing to get an Amex to diversify points. So that's cool :)

I'll see how I feel in December when it's time for new cards. I really want the rose gold one

I'm trying to set up Chase Pay on my iPhone. After I enter the code, it says either my username or password is incorrect----after I had used both to sign in correctly in order to get them to send the code to my landline :badpc:

I tried 3 times on Friday with no luck. Assuming there was some kind of a glitch, I stopped trying until just now.

Any ideas?
Tried the same thing. If you have business cards and personal cards on the same login, it won't work. I had an old login for just my CFU before they linked it with my CIC.
When I called they told me they noticed I had already had created an account for the CFU and advised me to use that one for Chase Pay. It worked. Not sure if that's your issue, but...

I finally got it to work on the *8th* time I tried. I was going to call in after that attempt if it didn't work.

Me too. The problem was when I forgot to look for a balance in my Uber account due to the Q3 Lyft category... :rotfl:

I have a spot for gift cards, and I print digital ones there so I don't lose track. Not that I have a ton or anything. But apparently I need to do that with this Alamo cert! At least it apparently doesn't expire since the code is working...

Whoa! I'm looking at $29-$35 currently.

I second @1st*toright , so far the 24 hours has been a rough calculation and we've not been charged an extra day. BUT when I'm looking at a early/late check out I usually call the hotel to see how they are basing the charge and tell them what I'm planning. So far it's all worked out to be per night, but I've not pressed our luck - like checkin at 1pm, pick up car 8pm next night.

I'm still working on MSR for my CSP. I was approved of at the end of August from a referral from my husband. I should be done in the next couple of weeks.

I have a couple of questions about my husband. Right now he has a CSP card that he has had for more than two years. He can apply for a new CSP or CSR, correct? It's my understanding in order to do this he will need to call and change his current CSP to a Chase Freedom card. Will he get the bonus if he does this? Can he apply for the CSP or CSR right after?

I want to make sure I understand everything correctly before I try to talk him in to this. He is a very reluctant player. He did see the 10,000 points he got from referring me, so that might help.

Haha, we are going to be very slow churners.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but last month Chase changed the bonus interval to 48 months from last bonus (instead of 24 months). He could apply for CSP or CSR but won't receive the signup bonus.
