I love credit cards so much!

I have been pulling apart the two ply for the last day and a half :cool1:. Heading to BJs tomorrow!

I'm not quite to your level of desperation lol but I've been to Costco three times over the last 10 days and I just cannot bring myself to buy one single thing we do not have to have. My dh is like, 'let's get a pumpkin pie'...Umm, nope, no can do until Oct 1...then he asks that I pick up the carne asada to throw on the grill this weekend...'Ok, sure hon, on Oct 1, I'll go get you some carne asada.' I feel like such a bad wife. Poor guy doesn't ask for much. He works hard and I say no to pumpkin pie cause of, what, 35 URs:rotfl:

CSR vs. CSP

I know a few people have mentioned this recently - now that you can ONLY get one of these cards is our consensus that if you don't immediately need to use your URs (and the 3x dining isn't a game changer for you) that CSP is the better card to get?

I believe the advice I've read (and somewhat agree with) is...
  • Apply for CSP 50,000 point offer
  • Probably still add your dog or kid or middle name as an AU and hope to get the 5,000 bonus (if it doesn't post, who cares - worth a shot)
  • Meet the $4,000 spend
  • Earn 54,000+ URs
  • During the next 12 months earn a bunch of other URs too
  • After a year (and I think you have to wait this long due to the laws) upgrade to CSR
  • Pay the $450 and double dip the Travel Credit - a $150 gain over the next 12 months
  • Use all your URs in all their CSR Glory while you hold a CSR.
  • Downgrade to CSP or CF...wait awhile and then repeat the CSR TC Double Dip in the future
I know this sounds somewhat complex for a newbie (who are typically the people we'd be advising to do this). I'm thinking about it for myself actually when I get eligible for a Sapphire card in March 2020 (yes that is CRAZY far away, haha!). Any thoughts on this? Good Plan...Bad Plan...Do you have a better plan or reason why you'd just get the CSR?

Won't find a different opinion here as I've suggested the same strategy a few times given the same circumstances. Given the same bonus, especially with the waived AF, it almost seems like the only logical choice - unless you needed to redeem the URs right away at 1.5, etc etc. Very little reason to pay the higher AF if you can wait the year.

I did the RMN rounds today and I should end up with $70 cash back from just the last ten days or so! I did Walgreens 3X (Disney gc), CVS once (merch), Kohls once (merch), Home Depot once (Disney gc) and Big Lots once (merch). I bought a filller item every time I bought a gc and so far everything has tracked! I wish I'd gotten started sooner, and I can't wait to find out what the new deals are going to be!

I did Walgreens and CVS for the third time today! Also got in Home Depot twice, Kohls twice (first time GC, second merchandise) and Papa John's for the second time today. I never got to staples (it's just not convenient). I did Macy's once but I need to return the item so that one may not stick. Hoping we wake to great offers tomorrow!

Thanks! I could not recall who had been trumpeting this strategy lately! :) I obviously also see the sense in this plan.

Nope - nothing will reset that clock. It is 48 months from the date you earned the bonus too (not the date approved). It’s a super crummy rule!! Very Sucky in technical terms...
Although at least it's set in stone unlike Citi? Or someone that actually resets the clock; I don't understand how to figure out that moving target. You know where you stand for that very long time. ( well, until they extend it...)

Here's my RMN haul:
Total for me was $140 cashback. I think Dh got $110 because some of his offers didn't track correctly. All of mine tracked and I never bought any filler items, every store was a $25 gc.
CVS 4 times, Walgreens 3 times, Kohls once, Home Depot 3 times, and Staples 3 times.

All of this is going towards our dining in 23 days at WDW so thank you to everyone who posted about this deal!! We saved so much money!

So jealous that you are staying at French Quater. I just stayed there a few weeks ago for the first time and it is probably my favorite resort taking into account price and amenities. It’s really the perfect hotel. It’s a moderate but still has a deluxeish feel. (I really think it’s a better option than Saratoga even if the price was the same and it pains me to say that because Saratoga is special to me) It’s small and quiet, the buses weren’t packed, and the updated rooms were so nice. Now I want to go back. lol
Dh & I just spent one night at POFQ. I loved, loved, loved it! I can't believe how much I loved it. Our room was nicely updated, very spacious feeling and the small size of the resort was so, so nice! We could walk out our door and be at the main building or pool in like 2 mins. That is so appealing when compared to CS, Poly, POR and others like that. I am hoping we stay there again for a trip. We didn't use the busing but I've always read it's great there.

Excellent point. I only feel it’s sucky due to the 48 month period. Otherwise, yes it is at least very clear. :)

Thanks for sharing. For some reason all the places close to us that used to accept Chase Pay have fallen away. Makes me sad! Nothing close to us at all anymore that is remotely good. Closest place period is 10+ miles.

I'll agree that 48 is very sucky, to use the technical term, especially if you were coming up on 24 months!
I was coming up on < 5/24 status for me in early 2019. My bonus was in Feb 2016 so I was already 24 months clear there...then they come out with 48 mths and death of double dip in the same month. We’re lucky my wife got in under the wire but I’m bummed for me. Luckily I can just stay busy with CIP, CIC, CIU or something like that in 2019.

We will be at WDW in about a month and I’m excited to try Port Orleans French Quarter for the first time. Other firsts for my family on this trip are Food and Wine and MVMCP. I used UR to buy our tickets so I’m devastated that this option is no longer available. Here’s hoping that it comes back.

By far our favorite mod resort. Did a split stay in March 2013 between both POR and POFQ. Love the size of the resorts and the room feel inside. Pretty good dining options. Busses were hardly crowded. Loved the boat to DS and the horse drawn carriage ride as the sun was setting was just amazing.

Woohoo! DH was approved tonight for Chase Sapphire Preferred! Just have to wait a few months before he can refer me! :cool1:
First off - Congrats!

Second - as soon as you’re able to, I’d generate a referral link and save it. You can either try the Chase Refer a Friend website OR you could do it through the Chase App on your phone. The reason I suggest this is because Chase has been playing with the option to generate referral links on some cards recently. If you can generate a link now that works you should be safe in case something weird happens later. :)

Finally got DH on the RMN train. We hit Home Depot, Walgreens and CVS on the way back home from WDW. I am looking forward to seeing what's next month with RMN and hoping it works for Disney GCs.

Radisson point booking availability finally opened up today and I was able to book our rooms for the Scotland trip next summer. DH, my mom and I have had the Club Carlson card for a few years and get 40,000 points on our card anniversaries each year. We let them pile up and then will use them to stay at Radisson properties in Europe. This one is my favorite card in the sock drawer. We have redeemed thousands of dollars worth of hotel stays on points for the $75 AF.

We now have two rooms booked using points for 2 nights at a Radisson Collection hotel on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. The cost of each room per night is $363.

My mom is really excited about coming on this trip with us and getting to do everything on points. I had her get the Barclay Arrival+ so she can wipe off the hotel nights at places that aren't part of an award program. We have 6 one nights stays at hotels throughout Scotland that are not bookable with points. So the Arrival+ will cover those for her. I usually put post it notes on her cards so she knows which one to use for what. DH installed the TPG credit card app on her phone and showed her how to use it. Today she was excited abut the fact she remembered to use it. Hopefully, she will also remember to check her MPX app before making purchases too. Baby steps.

I'm really glad she is coming with us and she is excited that she is getting to do a nice vacation on points with us.

POFQ is our absolute favorite moderate resort! I believe we have stayed at every resort except for Shades of Green and Art of Animation. I like POFQ even better than some of the deluxes and DVC properties.

I was where you are for a long time. Major chicken churner when it came to Biz cards. I believe I started several apps and changed my mind and didn't finish. Finally, earlier this year I had major FOMO on the high offer of the SPG biz. It was so easy that made it easier to try for CIP several months later. I dont know that I will ever do as many cards as most do here, but it is a start. And I hate to say it aloud, but I am still in the "thought of a business" stage. I do have lots of stuff I could sell on ebay/fb yard sale so that was my initial "business", I just have not gotten around to actually listing anything. My DH was firmly in the no biz cards until I got my 2nd one. Then he said do whatever you want. lol He now also has SPG biz and doesn't know it yet, but will get a Southwest biz in a few months.

Thank you for sharing. I'm reluctant to get a business card and still thinking about it. Good to know I'm not the only one. And really great to see that it's working for you.
