I love credit cards so much!

would recommend doing PNC 2k loads so u dont need to pay the 2.5% fee...
I've been considering this for next CC MSR. Can you only fund when opening a new account? Or can you make a CC deposit into an existing bank account (without coding as cash advance)?

OK, little backtrack to our discussion on card color/designs, the Sapphire debit card is what the CSR should have looked like. (Although maybe CSR blue and leave the debit green)

Debit pic posted on bank thread of r/churning discussing the new Sapphire banking: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9jm0r5/comment/e6v4tw6

Since churning the Sapphires every 2 years is out, I've been wondering if there's any real advantage to waiting to get P2 the CSP next year per the plan. Been following the Sapphire banking and if we move a bunch of stuff we could make the minimum I think but almost all of it is just P2s and I'm the one with the Sapphire. If I can't do it as joint to be able to move his stuff in, then he'd need the CSP. At first I thought that'd be a long time to wait but then realized that I'm not sure we need to wait that long. Unless I'm missing something other than waiting for an increased offer?

I saw something a while ago on DoC about this, and went to go read about it there in addition to your reddit link. I'm not sure but I suspect if you opened a joint account, the only things that could be moved into it are accounts that are also held jointly, i.e. joint checking, joint savings, joint brokerage, but not IRAs since those are in one person's name only. I mention this since you said "almost all of it is just P2s." Then, I think you're right that he'd need the CSP. I missed what you meant by "a long time to wait." Does P2 have to wait til next year to get the CSP? And are you waiting for an increased offer on CSP like the one that popped up briefly this year? That one had a pretty high spend! Or waiting for a higher Sapphire banking bonus? On DoC it said the 60K UR was higher than they were expecting.

I wonder if getting the Chase bank bonuses this year disqualify one from getting the Sapphire banking bonus. I read that recently Chase updated the terms of the banking bonus to q two years instead of one. If that carries over to the Sapphire then I'm out since I got the 300+200 bonus earlier this year. A comment on DoC said they were told they would be ineligible bc they got a $300 bank bonus. And my P2 doesn't have a CSP or CSR anymore; I was planning on having him get the CSP a 3rd time in Dec but then Chase went and implemented the 48 month rule.

If you haven't already done a Chase bank bonus this year or last, I think the current $600 one is easier (lot lower minimum!) than the Sapphire bank bonus.

As you may have already realized...I kinda like football. Tough night as I sit here still saying What. Happened. Penn. State. (I didn't attend PSU, but our family's blood runs Blue and White as it pertains to college football.)

It does remind me of an interesting story. My wife and my first real trip together was to Disney back in Jan 2007 (just 2 days in park, stayed off-site at some shanty-town independent hotel). We then went to Sea World/Busch Gardens in Jan 2008 (and we hit Magic Kingdom for one day too - our last day, on the spur of the moment if you can even imagine such insanity now in this day and age of FP+). Those two trips were nice, but Disney wasn't "our thing" yet. Nov. 2008 the 3rd Ranked PSU Nittany Lions were dealt a major blow with a loss to Iowa on a last second field goal. I was beside myself...despondent...couldn't speak. I was 100% planning to go to the national championship game that year as our trip. That dream was shattered...

Later that night as I sat alone in our office I just was so sad about the loss. A Disney ad popped up as I was on Espn.com and I clicked it. For some reason I began to price an on-site Disney vacation and realized, "Hey this could work, it's less than the National Championship game would've cost". (If you can even imagine this...Hotel/Tickets/Airfare for 2 people for less than $1,400!!! - man those were the days!) The on-site trip was Amazing and so fun...And thus our love of Disney trips was born. If you look at my signature you'll see trips in '09, (skipped '10 due to birth of daughter1, '11, '12, '13, '14 3x, etc...) AND this love of Disney also ultimately led to me churning to save money on Disney trips.

So a Penn State Loss in November 2008 largely changed the course of our travel life, and given how large a part of our life travel is it would probably not be overstating it to say that loss changed the course of what our lives look like today. Not sure why I typed all of this out...and it's certainly off topic, but I feel a little better now and hopefully I can get some sleep before church tomorrow now!

Yeah I'm still looking into it, but in my experience as long as you are an owner of an account it doesn't matter if the other account is single or joint. The only thing we haven't done is a joint brokerage so I don't know how that works, if you can reissue as joint shares or it could stay in one name only. And that's the bulk of what we'd move to make the minimum, if Sapphire banking allows a joint account with only one Sapphire holder.

My original plan was to have P2 get the CSR/CSP next year when my AF comes due so we could alternate churning the cards while always having one in the house. (2018 me, 2019 p2, 2020 back to me, etc) But with the 48 month rule now that won't work. So other than looking for the best sign up bonus, it doesn't seem to matter when he gets a card now since that schedule is dead; unless I'm missing something else. (never had one before, in fact he has no Chase UR cards only cobrands) I'm also wondering about the checking bonus too, he got the 300+200 this year too. That account is still open, planned to close it soon but then I wondered about just upgrading it instead. I haven't opened the Chase yet and the bonus thing is making me think of holding off if that does stop you from getting the UR bonus. I haven't been able to get the 600 combo, only way for me to get that is do the 300 for 25k savings with the checking. I think I'd rather have the UR though.

So much up in the air.

I really wish they did care. If they lose enough business maybe they will work with Disney again. Yeah, unlikely, but I can dream.

Isn’t there a part on the SM where you can make comments? Maybe if we all did that and expressed the frustration about Disney it could make a difference?!? But yeah I am probably just dreaming too...and backsliding from acceptance back into denial.

I probably will if the Dosh/Sam's offer continues. $20 back on every MasterCard I buy @ Sam's + a $20 Uber credit is a decent return even after paying the Plastiq fees. If I had another way to liquidate the MasterCards I would, but I'm still coming out ahead with Dosh. Would be nice to get that extra free night on my new Hyatt card. Plus, I'm planning to apply for the CIP in about a month, so it will help with the MSR.

Question - can I get approved for the CIP if I already have the CIC?
My P2 got the CIP in June and was just approved for the CIC...I did SM to reduce the CL on his CIP prior to applying

Woke up this morning to a notification that my WG RMN offer posted. Then looked and realized that I never linked my Staples offer to my card :badpc::badpc: So irritating! Nobody to blame but myself. I’ll still get 10% back from the offer on my card, which I’m happy with, but ugh. It’s one thing when a company/bank/service messes up my plan, but it’s somehow even more irritating when I do it to myself!

I know there have been numerous posts between here and the gift cards thread on RMN. I tried it this week at Walgreens because of the CF category and the $10 posted today. I’m willing to try more today as it’s the last day, but I know there were a couple stores that weren’t working for most people. I think they were Kohl’s and Staples, right? I’ll take the risk on some, but if it’s one that hasn’t worked for many people I won’t bother.

I was going to try Staples the same day as Walgreens, but they only sold the $50 GC. While it would be great to save 20% on the card, I didn’t want to pay full price if the purchase didn’t track. I would’ve felt better about it if they had $25 or variable load. Anyone try Staples with success? Just trying to map out my RMN plan for today.

I think Kohl's is the only one that has consistently not worked. I thought Staples had worked for multiple people. Mine didn't only because I'm the dummy that didn't link it to my card. I believe my Staples had $25 cards. I only bought a $50 because I had 10% back deal on my credit card up to $50, so I wanted to take advantage of as much of that as possible.

So, looking for suggestions. I am playing to have DH apply for a card. I’m hoping for a solid cash back/points offer upfront as well as steady returns on the card throughout the year. Just not sure which one to get? He does most of our grocery shopping (which is typically at Walmart and one other grocer), and we get 2% back towards Disney Rewards for most of his use. I’d want something that at least matches these earnings. He also picks up take out, which we do if we aren’t traveling. Which card is the way to go? I just got the CIC, and don’t want a duplicate of that. I have looked at CIP, CIC unlimited (I have the CIC 5%), CSR, CSP, Hilton Honors, SPG, citi double cash, Savor??? One question, if we downgrade our no annual fee Disney Visa card, what should we downgrade it to? Is the CSR too much for us? We go to Canada regularly, but I honestly didn’t know what Global entry even was? Lol TIA

Thanks, good to know! I went to one staples that didn’t have them at all, and the second only had $50. Maybe I’ll try a different one and see what they have.

My Kohls didn’t have Disney GCs....Staples same as yours $50 GC. The 2 stores That didn’t go pending for me were Staples and Macy’s...at both i purchases merchandise and have the receipt so tomorrow I’m going to online chat with RMN

There isn’t a card to downgrade the Disney Visa no annual fee to....so if it were me I’d just keep it....if you have the $49 fee Disney card you can downgrade to the no fee card

Not sure which cards get 2% on grocery stores...but I’m sure someone here does.
The CRS earns 3x on dining, CSP earns 2x on dining, CIU earns 1.5 on all purchases

I’ve had all of mine work- (3 HD, 3 Staples, 3 Walgreen’s, 3 CVS, 3 Macy’s and 2 Kohl’s) x 2 (DH and me).

Macy’s and Kohl’s I have purchased clothing and make-up I needed but all of the others have been gift card purchases.

I’d say I have had major success!

Thanks for the information! It sounds like most Kohl’s stores don’t have Disney, and I don’t need anything from there at the moment. I’m hoping to find a Staples that has less than $50 to try it out.

That’s really great! Did you use filler items, or only GCs? I’m going to try a few today, and hopefully the new offers that come out will be decent enough for me to continue using it!
