I love credit cards so much!

This is exactly what I did for PNC. I did 10 Amazon reloads with the debit card. Then a push from CapOne. It's listed as an ACH credit on the account, and I got an email from PNC that a direct deposit posted to the account. But, I finished this on Aug. 21 and no bonus so far. So I don't know if it worked.

Annoyingly, I only get a paycheck once a month, so I have just one more chance to do a real direct deposit. I'm waiting anxiously for my bonus!
I have done Amazon reloads and Kindle purchases with the debit card. Some say debit, others don’t.
Seems like bonus should have posted, but I’m not sure exact time frame.
Who else did PNC bonus? @speedyfishy @gottalovepluto ?

I am losing the battle on the someplace warm for our girl's trip. They keep suggesting Seattle. So @afan or anyone else, how yucky is Seattle in early December?

Do you like 40's/50's and rain with the potential for snow, though it's not likely? Though the past few years we've had snow in November, which is early because it normally doesn't until after Christmas. It wouldn't be my choice for December. It could be dry, and when I say rainy it doesn't mean a constant rain. It may only rain in the morning before everyone is up. But early Dec the sun will be up closer to 7 and go down closer to 4 than 5. And that's if you even see the sun because it'll probably be grey all day. There is stuff to do outside but there's generally a lot of walking too.

Where are you all coming from? That might also help us. Because I think Nashville would be fun. It also depends on what they want to do? If it's a girls weekend will it involve a spa, concert, sporting event, museums, shopping?

Yep they added December-March dates! I told Dh and his initial response was "no we are already going to wdw 3 times this year". Then after about 5 minutes he said, "It makes you happy and I'm a sucker for that." What a sweetie lol

We are going end of October and already booked January. (Barely missing the DAH dates). I told my DH about it and he said “have fun with that the girls and I will stay here.” And yes I am not going to lie I have been checking prices. Leave Friday night return Tuesday and do DAH? That’s worth a 4 hour flight? Right?!?

We tend to be gray in Nashville and rainy all winter long. I can't remember a sunny Christmas here. One of many reasons I can't wait to go back to Charleston next summer!!

We’re going the end of October too! We are staying at pop and bc. Never stayed at bc before so that’ll be fun! We went in July from Thursday to Sunday with 3 hour flights. It was totally worth it but it would’ve been a lot better if we didn’t get picked up by dme at 3:30 am after dah.

I just did one in July. The push from Cap1 worked. It took 20 days after I met the requirements for my bonus to post.

I'm just starting on bank bonuses too, so no first hand experience. But, I did see some reports in the comments on Doc of Credit that you could downgrade the PNC account after you got the bonus to one that only requires $500 in it to stay fee free. Maybe that would be more doable? I think I'm too scared to try downgrading, though.

PNC is easy, you can self service it from within your online account - no SM or calls needed. It's in an odd spot, click your VW account and then in the tabs on the right is "Preferences" and right there you can change the edition of your VW. You can downgrade once every 45 days, or upgrade once a business day. It even suggest to you which account fits based on a couple metrics. Mine flat out suggested the $500 basic version  Once you get the edition you want, scroll to the bottom for the "Change Edition" button. You're downgraded by the next day. Now you only need a min bal of $500 or $500 in DD's each month to avoid the $7 monthly fee.

Are you Gold by any chance? Gold and up get Welcome amenity now "Celebrate with a gift of 250 or 500 bonus points (varies by brand) when you arrive for your stay."

IHG's been doing it for a few years and it's quite nice. It had been an option at check in, either a water/snack or 500 or so points, but all the last stays they just automatically give me the points and don't ask. I guess most people took the points! I know I did except for one time when we stayed for a race and forgot to bring a bottle of water. I took the water and trail mix instead of the points. Got home and much later found points too  I guess they were so used to handing out points someone automatically added them to the ressie.
I’m Platinum - that’s probably what it is although I had elected a free snack but they probably just gave me both. I would’ve declined the points for the snack as I have no need for 500 more LOL.

I grew up with it so it doesn't bother me. When I lived in NC I would actually get annoyed in the summer when it was nothing but cloudless blue skies for days. I needed at least a cloud once in awhile or a thunderstorm to roll through to break things up. Yet day after day of grey doesn't bother me, you can normally find a bit of blue trying to peek through :) I do miss the heat though, I liked being able to wear flip flops April to Oct and shorts all summer.

No, no, no I do not like 40s and 50s with or without rain/snow. I tell you, this definitely is not my first choice! Or 2nd, 3rd..... Three of us are coming from East coast area and 1 from Colorado. They say we are already wearing winter clothes so what difference does it make. Umm, I want to escape the winter for a few days! I hate cold. We haven't all 4 been together in awhile, so no definite plans, but anything cheap is good for 2 of us. We would def be more the museums/ hiking type. Maybe spa or shopping.

That's right, Platinum's get a choice like IHG. Apparently they subscribe to the "get both" philosophy as well
Us lowly Golds get no choice just points only, and apparently TownPlace Suites is a 250pts brand. (which makes sense now that I think about it, as they're a 5 pts / $ brand, rather than the 10 everywhere else)

Is San Francisco an option? Do you like wine? You could add on Napa.

Why not meet in the middle and do Texas or something? I'm with you, if I'm going somewhere in the winter I'm not bring my winter coat with me.

Have you pitched Phoenix and specifically Scottsdale? Or Sedona like someone else mentioned? We went to Scottsdale in June and while it was hot it was SOOO nice. Lots of fun shopping and hiking around there too. I would think the weather in December would be just about perfect then. Highly recommend the Marriott at Camelback Inn. Sedona was awesome too and I would think be cool but not cold then.

It should. When you expand on the purchase it should say "DEBIT CARD PURCHASE" in the description. All my purchases, online (Amazon reload) or instore start the description with that. As for the CapOne, in the description it should start with "ACH CREDIT" and you will be good there. That's what my one legit DD showed as well so it matched my CapOne. I got the bonus and the only way that happened is if the CapOne counted because my legit DD wasn't anywhere close to the required amount for the Performance Select VW I opened.
The website is more clear on the debits (I was using the app) but I have one real DD and one push from CapOne and they look different. The DD is clearly marked “paycheck/salary,” Cap one is not, although they both say ACH credit.

That was on our original list. Hadn't been mentioned again. Can you do things on the cheap here? I'm thinking probably not. Though I am thinking probably not cheap many places.

I suggested Texas, but Colorado girl is from Texas and she said please no. lol

I mentioned Sedona. Then looked at the weather. It's December averages were much like Seattle. Had no idea it got cold there. Oops

We just came up with this idea last night. We will find a place somewhere. Probably not where all 4 will be happy with the choice, but we will be happy to spend time together anywhere. Didn't think it would be this hard!
