I'm planning to use the new Staples offer to get a $200 vgc that's fee-free this week. It may or may not work, but I was planning to buy it anyway.

Depends on where u live, they fly out of the store very quickly. I would go asap

Totally, off topic...but I can only locate DH and my MagicBands from many years ago (they are the old, skinny design). Will we receive new MagicBands at check-in since there was no time from them to be mailed or will I have to purchase DS a new band?

You will get new at check in plus you will be able to choose a color. They no longer have just gray at check in.

Can someone please help me without laughing too hard? I have what I’m sure is a relatively small number of Marriott points (9537) and SPG points (6954). I think their programs have combined??? Should I be going into one of their websites to do something to combine the points? More importantly, is there anything I can do with this small amount of points? I earned these points because of work things and I don’t know that I’ll ever use them at a Marriott or SPG hotel so even if all I can do with them is redeem them for some kind of gift card, I’d rather do that than forget about them entirely. Any help is appreciated!

Go on the Marriott site and it should prompt you about how to combine. You may have enough to redeem for a free night somewhere with maybe a Fairfield Inn or Towneplace Suites. I think you can also transfer Marriott points to other programs but not sure of all the details. Some category 1 & 2 hotels are around 10K points.

I had to go to two Staples to find them. Even at the second one, you had to ask for them since they weren't on the display. Good luck!

I should have stayed in Orlando until our next trip. Back at work and we had a test result come back that means not only is a days worth of work bad, but also yesterday's runs are suspect until those tests are finished tomorrow :badpc:

Category 1 is 7,500 standard (and 5,000 off-peak // 10,000 peak once that goes into effect).
Category 2 is 12,500 standard (and 15,000 off-peak once that goes into effect)

They could book 2 nights standard at a Cat 1 OR 1 night standard at a Cat 2 currently. Not a ton of points but still something!

Awesome! I am feeling bad enough that I lost DS's band so this will at least some type of compensation, although it won't have his name on it like his prior one.

Who has suggestions for a 5 day girl (4 - 40 something ladies) trip the first week in December? Somewhere Southwest flies so I can use my companion pass for the last time to help my friend out. Right now thinking Seattle or San Francisco, though I requested somewhere warm.

Fly to Phoeniz and drive to Sedona (just 2 hours north). Love, love Sedona. And in Dec should not be too hot.

I have been 30-40 pages behind since vacation in July but I am jumping ahead to ask for advice on booking AA award flights. My window has just opened for our flight out but I still have a few days before I can book our flight home. It will be myself and 2 boys flying from PHL to MHH for a scout trip. Should I book 2 one way trips or wait for the round trip to open? The troop will be getting trip insurance as it is hurricane season, any advice for insuring a trip booked on points? Anything else I need to know? I have cancelled and rebooked SW flights several times, but this is more intimidating. :)
TIA
no advice on trip insurance with points but I am curious myself. On the flights, I have almost always done one way on everything. Makes it easier if just part of your trip changes and especially if part of the trip is not open yet. There doesn't seem to be as much if any benefit to booking round trip. There are more experienced flyers out here so I'd love to know if this is incorrect.

They are also quick to take your money. Lol. Our car loan is with a credit union. I drop off a check at 3pm and it has posted to my Chase checking account before close of business that day.

Yeah, but that's fine. I mean, if they're going to be so fast giving me money, I expect they'll be fast the other way around too. Plus I don't make a payment if the money isn't there.

Which I why I drop off payment instead of mail it, so I’m sure of my checking account balance
