I love credit cards so much!

Good news on the SPG Lux front. We upgraded last week (Wed?) to the SPG Luxury. Amex assured me that we could use the current "old" card as the Lux until the new card arrives. Had a points stay on Thursday night (too late to cancel and change to cash). I bought a $300 Marriott gift card at the front desk Friday morning and had them add it to our room. The only thing on our bill at checkout was the gift card + $12 for the cruise shuttle.

Both the $60 Amex offer credit and the $300 SPG Lux credit have posted! Yay!!

I'm not sure if the $60 Amex offer credit will work if you don't have a stay and just buy at the front desk. Since we had them charge the gift card to our room, it appears as if its a room charge on our statement.
I upgraded Thursday and had a cash stay at a Courtyard on Saturday. No credit posted yet. I tried to buy a gift card but they didn’t have them. I didn’t have the Marriott deal on that card...only SPG of course. Fingers crossed that the Lux credit posts.

I did it right before @Haley R with my SOs CSR. At first I didn’t think it worked, but my statement originally closed like the 15th of the month and I moved it up to the first. It closed the first but the points posted like the 3rd or the 4th. Idk what’s happening with her points. Are we sure Chases delay is just having the points going pending? Could this be a new delay where points stay pending longer then one statement close?
Well if yours took 2-3 days after your statement closed I might need to be patient. That could be tomorrow or Thursday.

That would be so tempting :D I didn't have a great Sun Country experience but I've only flown them once. I have flown Frontier lots and can confirm they are consistently bad news. What time of year is this? Any weather to worry about, like snow or ice?
December Nashville to orlando so likely no kind of snow or ice.

Before we had SW companion pass I would regularly check google flights. Put in one way flight and you will see prices for months in the future. I could watch for a few weeks and see changes. I would know what a “good” price was and watch each airlines trends. I did like Sun Country and knew that I shouldn’t have to pay more than $108 one way unless it was a holiday. When I compare to SW with the CP I need to double the UR points.
Looking at many months of flights BNA to MCO there were many flights from $39-89. Prices were higher on holiday weekends
I look at the flights alot on goole flights and Kayak and SW, and we fly to MCO a good bit. The SW ones for our dates (12/14-22) are just super high right now. I paid a ton for our fall break flights too. Usually I can find them in the 6k one way range fairly easily. The super cheap ones you saw I am guessing were frontier. Sun country starts in November. No one else has direct flights for some reason....except a random one here or there. I am considering delta home on 12/22 b/c they have added a random nonstop at the perfect time for 10k URs. I'd have to pay for bags though so once you factor in that and our SW CP it isn't really a savings, just a better time.

ETA: That is good to hear you liked Sun Country. Were you in a place where they had more than 1 flight a day. They actually won't even have a MCO flight daily for BNA. I think I saw Thurs down but not Fri and Sun back but not Sat. Didn't pay attn to the rest of the week.

Several hotel offers on AMEX this morning, just FYI! And also $10 off $50 Walmart Grocery purchases. We use Walmart Grocery app about once per week for grocery pickup and it is great! We got this offer on each of our AMEX accounts and will definitely be using these.

Nice! I got Hampton Inn & Hilton Garden Inn Spend $175 or more, get $30 back exp 10/31

and Crown Plaza Spend $250 or more, get $50 back exp 11/30

I also have a Universal Studios Hollywood, Get a one-time $40 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $200+ in one or more transactions online at universalstudioshollywood.com by 11/30/2018.

Thanks for posting the AMEX offers. I checked mine and had the Walmart grocery one, a gap one and then I got super excited about the Universal one until I realized it was Hollywood and we would need Orlando.

There were usually at least 2/day from MSP. I’m not seeing 2/day now. More flights to LAS.
I only had good experiences with Sun Country. We did carry on bags which they gate checked for free. We didn’t pay for bags(call me cheap). Staying in timeshares for the last 10 years and always having a washer/dryer in the room helped. In Orlando if the bags were within weight/size they just checked them for free at the counter. When we run out of SW points and if we have to pay for flights I will have no problems flying Sun Country.

Further Data Points on Delayed Chase Bonuses:

I've been reviewing numerous DPs discussed today on r/churning related to the Chase delayed bonus issue. I'm seeing comments related to numerous UR cards (both personal and business) as well as Marriott, Southwest, United. This is a widespread delay of bonuses posting.

With regards to UR cards, it's easy to see if your bonus will post as it will show up in the "Earnings on Next Statement" (aka what we refer to as "pending"). On other cards, you don't have this luxury so you just wait for the statement to close and hope your points are there. IF you see your points "pending" on the Chase Ultimate Rewards site - you are NOT affected by this issue.

However, for those that ARE affected - be aware that you are decidedly not alone. This is affecting both churners and non-churners. This is not typical. IF you contact Chase they will basically say one of a couple of canned phrases:
- Bonus points will appear in 1-2 statements after meeting MSR
- Bonus points will appear in 4-6 weeks after meeting MSR

As others have said here earlier today, I would not panic or be worried. Given the widespread nature, this is likely some sort of system issue or intentional delay on the part of Chase (although I personally doubt that one). It does not appear to be targeted at churners or double dippers or anything like that. Hopefully it is resolved soon! Obviously I feel for those who were hoping to get these points and book something with them, that would be very frustrating.

EDIT: if you want to read some of this go to the DQ and DD threads on r/churning for today and just search the word bonus. You'll see much discussion on the topic (moreso in the DQ).

Long post ahead everyone...

Thanks to everyone who helped out with my questions today! Now that I have everything booked I want to share about my most exciting redemption yet!

Back story: Two years ago, my father-in-law had a massive heart attack. He was home alone doing yard work when a neighbor found him in cardiac arrest and started performing CPR. He was shocked three times before they brought him back and spent the next two weeks in a coma. We're not sure how long he was actually "dead," but it affected his brain and he had to learn how to walk and talk again. He spent 8 weeks in the hospital and rehab before he got to come home, but, incredibly, he walked out of the hospital on his own. He was self-employed and the breadwinner, and has been unable to work since then as he no longer has the aptitude and focus, nor the fine motor skills, to do the type of work he was before. If you talked to him today, you would think he'd had a stroke because he has poor balance and slurred speech. All of this has been tough not only emotionally, of course, but financially as well as my mother-in-law attempts to make ends meet as my FIL continues with a variety of different therapies to try to regain some semblance of who he was.

Fast forward to present day, and a good friend of ours sent us a link to a neuro institute in Florida that has been doing spinal injections on stroke and TBI patients, among others, and is seeing truly miraculous recoveries in terms of speech and mobility. I mean, I almost didn't believe it until I watched videos of several different patients' before and afters. My MIL called and did a phone consult and the institute said my FIL sounds like a great candidate to receive the treatment and has an appointment in December!! We are all thrilled and are hoping that we will see some good results for him, as he is now to the point that he's so self-conscious about his voice that he will hardly speak. While the procedure is not prohibitively expensive ($6,000), it is an unexpected expense for my MIL. Then there's getting to FL... (now you see where churning comes in).

As soon as we got the news that he had an appointment, I told DH that I wanted to cover the expenses for their trip. My MIL is very resistant to us helping with anything (I have to track down the waiter in restaurants to pick up the bill), so I knew I had to be sneaky. I've been keeping an eye on Jetblue and Spirit flights to FLL, and saw a great UR redemption on return Spirit flights for their trip at 3,600 URs each. I texted her this morning and asked her what day they were planning to come back from Florida after the treatment and once she let me know, I booked their return flights and sent her the email confirmation! I know it's not the fanciest of redemptions, but it's a direct flight at a decent hour and they won't need anything more than backpacks for a two day trip down there, so no baggage fees. Before she could argue with me about it, I booked them two nights a Doubletree two miles from the doctor's office on Hilton points and forwarded her the confirmation for that too. She told me she didn't want me to use my points when I could use them for something else for me and DH  I told her I was saving the URs for the Disney trip we're planning to take them on next year, so she could buy me a snack when we get there to pay me back :rotfl:

I still need to do flights down there, but I don't like how late the Spirit flight puts them in, so I'm going to wait and see if Jetblue has a sale and probably book that.

I'm so excited for this trip that I'm not even going on, and really hoping my FIL can get some much needed help!
That is awesome and so sweet! Hope your FIL has a great outcome.

Best. Redemption. Ever.

That is so awesome and the Plane Princess and I are sending our good thoughts for your DFIL.

I am one of the 3 (THREE! Only 3 of us???) respondents that are indeed over 5/24 and not looking back. It should probably be 4 because P2 is also in the same boat!

There's a ton of value and plenty of like after Chase. All of Chase's restrictions, mental gymnastics, and shutdown threats are exhausting to me.

Thanks for checking. Our rental home is on the coast of MS, but we now live in DC. My family is still there though. No one is terribly worried. It sounds like it'll be wind and heavy rain, with some storm surge at low-lying areas.

I suspect Gordon will continue to tighten up, and friction may end up pulling it near the MS/AL border. But I'm not a professional meteorologist, and that's just a guess.

I did the survey so that makes me two of the three of us that are over 5/24 and not looking back.

Thanks for the summary! I've been trying to follow discussion on this issue in r/churning and the conversation goes so fast in there I have trouble keeping track of all the DPs. Not panicked or worried, just a bit irritated since it's my first rewards card *ever* and I just want everything to go nice and smooth.

@SouthFayetteFan - Thanks for the info regarding the Chase bonus points. DH did the double dip in July and met the MSR in August on both and so far nothing. I guess it's good to know that we aren't alone. Also, I'm sorry I didn't see the survey so I couldn't respond (guessing this was posted when we were traveling and offline).

I know with the number you have to fly places make it a lot, but if they don't even fly daily, is the savings worth potentially missing days of your vacation or having to buy tickets day of? Flying that close to Christmas it doesn't surprise me they'd be higher. College kids start going home for break, schools start letting out and families start going to visit grandma or go on vacation. When I lived in NC and came home for xmas I always bought my tickets in the late winter/spring because the flights would do nothing but go up. Now I wanted the non stop one one airline, but I also traveled with my dog so had less options.

I wouldn't fly any airline that didn't have daily flights somewhere unless it was my only option. I wouldn't want to get stuck losing vacation time or having to take more time off work/school because I can't get home. Especially depending on the reason for the delay, they may not help. Now if you have a CSR or other card with good trip delay insurance that will cover all of you if you do need to do something on the fly it might be worth it, but I'd read all the fine print of what's covered and how.

Must update my mental spreadsheet and put Mississippi @striker1064 and Washington DC @striker1064 as same person. Lol I read your posts about DC all the time and honestly am just realizing you are same person. Oy. This may sound bad, but in my mind Hamilton loving and Mississippi do not equate to same person. My bad.

This is why we moved out of Mississippi. :-)

Just hanging out in the PP lounge at MCO by gates 1-29. Theres a few crazy folks in here.... trip was good, TSA here stinks, someone threw up this morning, and I dont know how many pages I have to catch up...

Sounds like a typical day at MCO. Safe travels!

I’d like to confirm the date by which I need to meet the MSRs on my CSR and CSP double dip, but I’m reluctant to have someone look at my account because of the double dip. If I do ask, I would do it by sm and obviously only ask about one of the cards. Anyone done this or have reasons I shouldn’t? I could just estimate, but I like knowing the exact date.

Safe travels and do a quick trip report when you can.
