Thank you for the math! My brain is having a Sabbath day lol :) So, just to figure out if the mortgage company will accept the refi appraisal. Sure would be nice to capture that 3k a year in taxes and $1500 year in insurance for cc spend. Since I've lost plastiq...

I actually called Provident recently inquiring about this. The person I spoke to said if I didn't want to use appraisal at time of purchase I would have to pay for a new appraisal. So, seems to me they should definitely use your refi appraisal!

Ugh, all this mortgage talk has me jealous... we're not even three years into our mortgage yet, but we're paying PMI which is a serious bummer. I still have no regrets about buying our house when we did and how everything worked out, but I HATE that worthless PMI payment. We're still projected to pay it for another 5 years but I'm hoping to speed that up once I get my student loan paid off.

National car rental promo going on, apparently. I got the email last week but didn't really pay attention to it until DoC linked to this blog for it: https://runningwithmiles.boardingar...ack-earn-free-rentals-nationals-one-two-free/

I signed up for National because CSR gives Executive status, but haven't rented from them in a long time so didn't really pay attention to the promos. However, it seems pretty good if you rent from occasionally. Especially if you're renting for work since this isn't tied to a CC promo. (that was the only time I rented from them, otherwise they're usually too expensive for me, hehe) You have to register for the promo and it's not retroactive, so I just did it now on the off chance I'll be renting a car between now and Feb.

For those interested in r/churning referral updates:

r/churningreferrals is officially up and running now. I am a moderator of the new sub and would welcome any feedback. I do feel that we've put referrals back on r/churning in the most fair way possible.

I know many of you don't know or care about this so just ignore it if so :)

I can't believe that's what you pay for property taxes. We had a Townhouse in NH last year and the property taxes were like $4500 a year, and that didn't include the HOA fees. I am paying that now in RI but at least I have some land and not shared with my neighbors that were literally through the walls.
Lawd have mercy. You need to relocate.

Ours is about $3500 on an $800k house in Nashville area.

Hotel AmEx offers:

Marriott spend 300 get $60 expires 10/25

I got that one on my SPG BIz

(Hilton) Spend $250 or more, get $50 back at Embassy Suites & Homewood Suites & Home2 from 8/27/2018 to 11/15/2018

I got that one on my Everyday.

ETA: Ah, I see DoC beat me to the punch again on the Marriott offer. I see in the comments though that someone seems to have successfully done the multi - tab trick on it: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targ...0-receive-60-statement-credit/#comment-634764

Thanks!

So just FYI to everyone, because even my DH didn't know this and got a lecture 2 weeks ago from me...
When you stay at Home2Suites you earn half as many points. Why, I Don't know, because they seem to run the same price and sometimes more than the other brands, but beware.

$2300 on 17 acres... yeesh, never knew how good I had it :duck:

Just for kicks I tried adding the Marriott/Embassy Suites offers to all of my cards... Embassy Suites caught it right away and told me I already added it to another card when I tired to add it to the second, but Marriott added to both. I'm sure it will disappear soon, just thought it was funny they didn't act the same.

Same here.

Do you have a separate school tax? In MD, our property taxes are high but it includes everything in one. Unlike my mom in PA, where she has property taxes, school taxes and a per capita tax. So everyone always comments on how much cheaper is it to cross the line but it adds up also.

same for me

Darn, DH is staying at Marriott 3 nights this week but has to use his work card. Jealous of those who can expense their work travel. Though I can see how that would be very bad for some people having to come up with money upfront.
I'm so grateful DH gets to pay his and get reimbursed. It makes up for him being gone to hotels every week.

Yeah I just saw a comment about that on DoC and added it to my post. I'll have to read the terms of both offers. I recall when it first got shutdown there was slightly different wording in the terms for the offers that were SSN/name restricted. I assumed all new offers would have that language but maybe not? Or we just found a glitch in the matrix. Either way, sad I didn't see DoC first cuz I just realized I added it to my SPG first before signing into my Everyday so I goofed myself up on this one :headache:

I goofed myself too, but after seeing your and @amalone1013 's comments, I went back and did the multibrowser multitab on DH's cards. We have no plans for any Marriott stays by 10/15/18, unfortunately our Marriott stay is after the AMEX offer expiration. But added the offer anyway just in case AMEX keeps track of which offers I'm interested in... (hello, AMEX? No more wine offers please)

Oh boy I do too...hopefully to FL after retirement....our taxes ...school And property are around $9,000 on an $400K house...plus NYS income tax :(

YIKES:scared1:. In the Florida Panhandle, our taxes on a (est) $500,000 house are about $4100. It's the insurance (we live maybe 5, 6 blocks from the water but certainly not waterfront) that's the killer-$4200 for home (including windstorm), the standard flood plus flood overage around $1000.
Sadly we don't have higher school taxes and that reflects in the funding of our schools. I guess the good thing is no state income tax :)

I know, I wish I could figure out how they assign offers...she doesn't drink and has never used a wine offer? Great, 10 more wine discounts will change that.:rotfl2:

We were able to refi and get rid of our PMI. Not sure if that is an option for you or not but might be worth it if your values have gone up enough and interest rates are comparable. We did have to pay for an appraisal. It was $500'ish but we saved $300 month dropping PMI.

I feel your pain. We too have PMI, 8 years into the mortgage, and we can't get rid of it because the property values continue to sink in Mississippi.

Yes our schools are well funded.. salaries in the schools are high and not just teachers...a friend is an administrative assistant and she makes over $100K
The insurance evens it out a bit..ours is around $2,000... bur the state taxes and sales taxes are so high here....but our Moms are still here..90 and 88 God bless them so not going anywhere right now

Strangely enough - we got rid of our PMI on our first Refi, even though we were still at 95% LTV. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or by design, but it was awesome either way, lol! That was about 8 years ago - we did another refi after that too then, haha.

dang, I was all excited to have DH switch from hertz for this promo for his weekly rentals. The only location is at the airport. :(
