My Southwest Plus is due for renewal soon.
Last year my fee posted 9/1 and my points posted 9/4. I did renew this card last year without asking for a retention offer. I plan to have dh go for CP later, just haven't decided on the card combo yet. Probably the biz and Plus or Premier. I don't know that it's worth renewing this card just to refer him, but that would be more RR.

Is it worth calling for retention on this card or just cancel? I rarely use it and we'll have SW cards in a few months. Do I literally just say I'm checking to see if there are any retention offers on my card because I'm considering closing it? Should I be calling now or closer to September or wait until the fee posts?

I absolutely hate making phone calls.

I think it is worth a call. Lots of people have been getting retention offers on their SW cards. I didn’t but pretty much everyone else is!

Thanks for the offer. Chase received my application on 9/6/17. It went bending for a while. The first statement I received says 9/12/17 through 10/3/17. The cycle closes on the 3rd of every month.

So since you got approved in September, your annual fee actually won’t post until 10/1/18. Your anniversary points should post on the statement that closes 10/3/17. You will have 30 days to cancel and get your annual fee refunded/removed. If you refer your wife in Sept you should see the referral points on the Oct stmt as well.

If you wanted to alter this to potentially make a better timeline you could change your statement close date to late in the month (maybe the 24th or so). I think you actually change your payment date (not your statement close date) so you’d need to adjust to that.

Thank goodness for points! My best friend and I have been talking about doing something to celebrate her 50th birthday. She was going to Orlando 8/20-22 to use her Disney passes before they expire. She was going herself and has a 2nd home down there. So we were talking tonight about me possibly joining her. Thanks to points, I am able to make that happen! SW booked and I have $424 left from Disneyland that should cover my Disney park tickets. I did tell her I couldn’t do FOP since I was to experience that for the 1st time with DS11. So excited for this upcoming girl time!

We are camping near Lewis beach. Went to cape henelopen state park and the beach there is nice. It’s very busy down here. Went to Rehobeth beach boardwalk last night and it was hot and muggy. It was quite busy but you could still find parking with some patience.

Question for all the recent applicants for the Hilton Biz card, did you get an instant card number? (I think @amalone1013 you were one of the ones on this latest promo with the waived AF, right?) Trying to guess the odds we'd get an instant number we can use for hubby's DoubleTree stay next week. That's why he was thinking of that card, with the stay coming up that'll be reimbursed and "only" needing 3k for the bonus on this offer we could swing it and not throw off other plans (I don't think). But he checks in on Sunday

This is why we initially didn't go for it, didn't think we'd get the card in time and we'd be banking on that instant card number... and if we didn't get it we now have to come up with all 3k to spend. I'm still not wanting to bank on the instant number (or getting the card before check out next Sat) but knowing the odds will factor in whether he decides to apply tonight. Thanks!

We may use our cert for a DL hotel also. We were there in June for 5 nights/4 park days. We could have really used another park day and some break days in the mix. So, IMO, 7 nights would be perfect!

Would it be inconvenient to stay at one hotel near DL and spend some time at uni? Ds10 keeps asking to do uni, although he means FL, but he may have to deal.

I'm not sure! We aren't really into Uni so I've not paid attention to where it's located. I don't think it would be awful to stay close to DLR and do other things in the area.

It looks like Uni is about an hour from DL. I know on LMT they were selling packages with Uni tickets and transportation from the DL area. If they are HP fans, they may be disappointed since CA’s HP is much smaller than FL. LMT has day packages for San Diego and other areas too.

Hi all! Been away from this thread for a few weeks and have missed A LOT - almost 4,000 posts, you all are active! But I am trying to decide my next move, and have some questions.

3. I'm planning to close my CIP next month, after I refer my DW for her own. This will leave me with only the Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and CIC in the UR family. Just to confirm, I can still transfer my points from these cards to my wife's CSR even if I don't technically have a UR-earning card myself, correct? I'm currently able to transfer my points directly to my wife's CSR from all of my cards but want to make sure nothing has changed with Chase's transfer rules recently.

Did anyone answer #3? Because I keep thinking there is a reason I originally planned to keep at least one of my CSR/CSP. I don't need either so would like to convert them to CF and CFU but can I still transfer my points to DHs CSR if I just have the cash back cards? I can't change till December and I don't know why I am worried about it now because there is so much information flow on this thread I will likely forget and ask again.

I would guess that the category is because of it being ocean front. This is where peak pricing might benefit a bit - perhaps the points will adjust to reflect the seasons as time goes on. I've never stayed but I hope that it is special for you. Enjoy Bethany! I used to eat at a place called Patsy Campbell's and it was pretty good but it's been years since I've been there. I think it's on Second, beach side. Editing - it's on Campbell Pl.

Thanks! We’ll be there Labor Day weekend which I think it was is driving the price up. We’ve done the beaches in MD, VA and NJ but this is our first venturing over to DE. Although I have dropped DH and DS off at the Rehobeth boardwalk while I have gone to the outlets shopping

Yeah citi mailers. I’d update your account and make a new account with a fake name and your address and see if you get mailers that way too. Apparently mailers show up three months after making a dummy account. I still haven’t gotten any tho.. so I may just buy them off Reddit

I ordered one of the $100 MC gc's from staples last week. I got it yesterday and the activation mailer today. I've called the number on the activation mailer (only options for Visa or Amex) and the number on the back of the MC card. No one can help and say I need to call staples. I'll call them tomorrow but this is so annoying. Any ideas to make this all happen easier? I won't be buying one of these again. What a pain.

Probably not me! It's like 90 degrees out there right now!

I'm an hour away and it goes until 8pm, and I gave it some mild interest. Even the 'good' prizes are pretty minor to plan an outing around. We are going out for dinner later, but not all the way to B'More. Wasn't someone going to walk around on their lunch break?

I was the one thinking about stopping by at lunch, but it was too hot and humid today. It wasn’t much further than where I thought they would have set up the event, but it was far enough in 90 degree heat and work clothes...more bearable in shorts and t-shirts

Thanks to the Hamilton enablers on this thread we are all set to go see it again This time in DC. I found tickets for the last Saturday evening performance of the Washington, DC run. We are staying at the Willard on IHG points. We also decided to use some AA gift cards to purchase our flights over for the weekend. I'm so happy right now!!!! DH and I will be checking out the cool list @striker1064 sent us for the foodie options!

Believe it or not, calling Staples is a quick solution. I called and they transferred me to someone at Giftcardmall who activated them immediately. This was after spending 20 min on the phone with a csr from the number on the card and telling me they couldn’t help.

Yep. If you adjusted your statement to close on say 9/24 - all the bonus points should post then before you even see your annual fee.

Scary, a small Q400 Bombardier plane was hijacked from SeaTac tonight, allegedly by an employee. It was an AS plane (two prop and 76 seats). Scary no matter what, but we live south of the airport about 9 miles and while not directly under the flight path, close enough to see them and often tell which airline it is flying by. Planes typically turn a bit south of us so I often see my house from the plane window, and yes still close enough to the ground to be able to pick it out. The ground stop has lifted and planes are back to taking off to the south so I'm hearing them frequently.

The hijacked plane has crashed but it's not yet known how it happened, he was quickly met by two F15's that I believe are scrambled out of Portland. It does seem that it was a joyride as conversation with ATC was about him wanting to do a barrel roll, which he may have done.
