I love credit cards so much!

I'm a little bummed that the Marriott certificate won't be turned into points, but I knew that was a gamble when I redeemed my points for the package. Hopefully they will still let the certificates be extended.

Would 7 nights at a Disneyland area hotel be too many? We'd probably go to the parks 4-5 days and would have a car.
I was hoping for points too!

We may use our cert for a DL hotel also. We were there in June for 5 nights/4 park days. We could have really used another park day and some break days in the mix. So, IMO, 7 nights would be perfect!

I’m kind of bummed too, but I think we will use it in San Diego, over Christmas. I think we could do 2 Zoo days, 1 wild animal park day, 1 sea world day, and 1 museum day.

Did that trip last year kids loved it!

Do you think the certs will be able to extend? I’m thinking Orlando Feb 2020. Should I not bother getting a category 6. I could use the SW points but not overly desperate......

If I were staying at the GC or DLH 7 nights would not be too many for me! I LOVE those hotels and would not have a problem at all. Even staying off property I would not have a problem, as long as it was a nice hotel. There is a lot to do near DLR if you decide to go off property (beaches, Knots Berry Farm). We did 4 days at the parks and it was great. I could have done more without getting bored. The only problem I had was the heat and the crowds at the time we went.

Thanks! If we go for 7 nights we'll be at a Marriott/SPG hotel to use up our certificate (assuming we can extend it past one year). I'm hoping to book GC with DVC points, but doubt that I'll get it at 7 months out.

Personally if I wasn't at a Disney hotel I think I'd prefer to split it with a couple of days near the beach. We had a trip like that planned (splitting GCH & the Hyatt Huntington beach hotel) but had to cancel it, so I can't say for certain. But to me a few days in Anaheim is enough. Of course it's just personal preference and we don't mind changing hotels.

Ideally we'd do 5 nights, but I'll probably use our Marriott certificate so that would mean 7 nights.

Great to hear, thanks!

Question for all the recent applicants for the Hilton Biz card, did you get an instant card number? (I think @amalone1013 you were one of the ones on this latest promo with the waived AF, right?) Trying to guess the odds we'd get an instant number we can use for hubby's DoubleTree stay next week. That's why he was thinking of that card, with the stay coming up that'll be reimbursed and "only" needing 3k for the bonus on this offer we could swing it and not throw off other plans (I don't think). But he checks in on Sunday :p

This is why we initially didn't go for it, didn't think we'd get the card in time and we'd be banking on that instant card number... and if we didn't get it we now have to come up with all 3k to spend. I'm still not wanting to bank on the instant number (or getting the card before check out next Sat) but knowing the odds will factor in whether he decides to apply tonight. Thanks!
DHs app with a dummy booking and the waived AF gave me an instant card number. When I applied through a support link for mine (which was before that offer came out) I did not get a card number

Thanks! That makes sense, if you're doing a booking and get approved you could then finish the reservation with it. Hm, that might temp him to do it

In the past, it seemed to be that people could *fairly* easy get an extension. I do wonder how/if this will change with the merger. I'm hoping for an extension as well, unless there is a way to use at Swolphin, and then that works into our 2019 plans.

Mom decided last Sunday that we should go to Leavenworth and take the dogs for a couple of days. We should have looked at the weather first since it was pushing 100 both days but we had fun. Stopped at Snoqualmie Falls on the way home this morning, so @Albort here's your preview -

They didn't have all the parking open when we got there a little before noon so we ended up parking in the rv/bus parking with a bunch of others cars.

There is so much unknown... they have always allowed to extend them for a year. I really seems like they are keeping all their rules, just devaluating the points.

I didn’t back when I applied in June. Took about 2 days to get approved for me though.

ETA: Applied for mine through an actual booking on hilton.

P2's business is growing, went to the candy machine and pulled out a Hilton Biz!

We did the dummy booking and got the instant card number (sorry DISchurners :( ). That was like a horror film or a fun house, it kept saying "get your number!" and I knew you had to be quick to not lose the page so each time he clicked the button he's got fingers geared up to screenshot and... it's another consent or agreement page, the anticipation was killer.

Then the high of the instant number was tempered with it only has a $1k charge limit until we get the card. :headache: His room is just about that, so anything he charges back to the room mostly likely will have to be paid with another card. Unless by some miracle we can get his card verified before checkout.

Can someone explain the GrAAvy train? Is this something someone trying to stay under 5/24 can jump on?

I think it has something to do with some of the AA mailers that don't have restrictions about having earned a previous bonus within the last 24 months for an AA card. This way, you can get multiple AA bonuses. Unfortunately, these cards would count towards your 5/24 in Chase's eyes.

Do you happen to know the exact date you applied for the card and the date your statement closes?

Everything you describe in 1 and 2 should be possible but if you know the actual dates I can probably lay it out more precisely.

Thanks for the offer. Chase received my application on 9/6/17. It went bending for a while. The first statement I received says 9/12/17 through 10/3/17. The cycle closes on the 3rd of every month.

We upgraded our Marriott Premier to the Plus for the 10,000 points and better free night redemption. The original card was opened in December of 2016. I expected them to charge the additional $10 fee now and then charge the $95 in December. Instead, they refunded the old card $35 and I assume have charged the new card the $95. Now I’m wondering if we get our next free night in December or July of next year. Does anyon know yet how they are handling this?

So you were able to book AP rate before you'd upgraded?

I am so behind so I don't know if anyone answered, but no you do not have to have the ap to book the ap rate. I have booked it twice without an ap in hand. They always say you must show the desk at some point, but I have stayed 3 times on ap rate and never shown my card. Def worth it to upgrade at least to a seasonal because they are so cheap and the room discounts are pretty good usually.

You can also hop on by getting the mailers for AA Biz cards. I haven’t been targeted so I may buy some of Reddit after my current MSR that I’m working on is done.

I spent five nights at DL in January and it wasn’t enough. I have six nights and five days coming up at the end of this month and we aren’t even planning on doing anything off property. I think you could definitely do a 7 night trip there and do some other things in the area.

Welp, I think I need to add another trip to the mix. Aerosmith will be doing a residency in Vegas next year - rumored to start in Spring. I'll be gathering a big group for this one. So now I need to get a stable of points together too. Plus I'm probably going to Vegas in December for a few days since DH has to go there for work - it's over our anniversary, so might as well.

So that's Disney in October, Vegas in December, Vegas in the Spring, Europe in August. Maybe I should just start playing the lotto, ugh! Damn you Chase 5/24! :badpc:

Thanks to the Hamilton enablers on this thread :worship: we are all set to go see it again  This time in DC. I found tickets for the last Saturday evening performance of the Washington, DC run. We are staying at the Willard  on IHG points. We also decided to use some AA gift cards to purchase our flights over for the weekend. I'm so happy right now!!!! DH and I will be checking out the cool list @striker1064 sent us for the foodie options!
