I love credit cards so much!

So the offers can be done multiple times after it goes to pending or after it credits.

After the offer credits (and becomes payable), you can do it again. I believe up to 3x every 30 days. I haven't had a chance to confirm that yet but going to read through their rules in a bit to remind myself.

We visited the SEA Centurion lounge for the first time this past March, and it is definitely much smaller than the other Centurion lounges I have experienced. Still a great option to have since the Alaska lounge is so often closed to PP, but I wouldn't necessarily get a Platinum card for the sole purpose of accessing this lounge.

umm... oops? :P

You have to apply for Global Entry or TSA Precheck separately. Several premium travel rewards credit cards, including the CSR, include (partly to justify their fee) a statement credit up for $100 to cover the cost of applying for GE or Precheck. You apply for GE/Precheck, pay with the CSR, and get a statement credit. The CSR doesn’t automatically confer GE/Precheck status. You’re responsible for going through the application process and getting approved.
Ah okay thanks! We probably just won’t worry about it

So, are you getting a personal Platinum, calling in for the Business Platinum, or putting the upcoming spend on your husband’s card?
I'm not sure. I'm at work right now and this whole situation is moving very fast! I gather and manage information for a living, but dealing with insurance, managing my family living in a wrecked house and researching replacements is overwhelming. DH and I will discuss at dinner. We just wanted to make sure we had a CC we could use (or would have to split to 2) because we wants points of some sort! LOL

So I should mention, I've been named a mod of r/churningreferrals. I'm working with zachiv31 to keep the referrals going there. I'll probably share some details once I know more. :)
Are they sure they really want to make a referral bot a mod on the referrals sub? :p

Seriously though, glad to hear there may be some sanity out there in reddit.

This is a lot of pages and I really don't try to research credit cards for benefits! I just keep the disney ones going...

We are not going to Disney until 12/2019.

I plan to buy our tickets at the military base or undercovertourist. I will need 6 adult tickets!! (all my kids will still be in college so we still help them out)

If I was to open an account to earn points to purchase the tickets at either of these two places, which one would you credit card experts suggest? I would probably just charge all bills to it and that would be it. Pay it off course each month.

I tried to research but it is overwhelming! I am coming here for the expertise!

Hi...are you looking for a credit card to get cash back to use towards your Disney tickets ? ..if so Chase and Discover have cash back cards with no annual fee.
If you’d like to earn points to use for Disney tickets...Chase UR points can be used....if you have a business you can open the Chase Ink Preferred.it has a $95 annual fee .after spending $5,000 on it in the first 3 months you earn 80,000UR points....there are other Chase personal cards CIP or CIR..that earn 50,000 UR after spending $4,000 the first 3 months ...you also earn points on all your spending......I’ve never redeemed points for tickets so not sure how many points are needed...others here have and may be able to let you know

@SouthFayetteFan Congrats on the double dip! We just finished our spend on my DW's double dip.

What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

Me:
Chase Sapphire Reserve 8/2/17
Chase Freedom 1/3/18
Chase Freedom Unlimited 3/1/18
American Express Amex EveryDay 3/18/18
Chase Ink Business Preferred 5/6/18
American Express Business Gold 6/19/18

DW:
Chase Southwest Plus 10/31/17
Chase Southwest Premier 10/31/17
Chase Ink Business Preferred 3/21/18
Chase Sapphire Reserve 7/11/18
Chase Sapphire Preferred 9969 A 7/11/18

So you are 4/24 but you've gotten 3 Chase cards this year, and a personal AMEX card.

Your wife is 4/24 and has gotten 2 Chase cards a month ago (and 3 Chase cards in the past 5 months).

You're not pushing the limit yet, but you want to be cautious. I would next consider either:
1) An AMEX biz card for wife
2) A Chase Ink Cash for you

If you did the Biz card for your wife, let that kill a couple of months, then do a CIC for you in Oct/Nov, then your wife could do a double dip at 4/24 for 2 more cards you really want. You could consider referring her to CF and CFU which ends up being a decent amount of points. You have a lot of options...I'd try to spread out the apps a bit though so you don't get caught going too fast. IF you haven't maxed out the CF category yet, you could also kill some time by buying MCGCs or VGCs at Walgreens and use that for some of your spend.

umm... the Centurion Lounge was the main reason... Those 100k MR going towards Cathay or ANA J/F class is just a perk...
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:rotfl: I get it. There weren't any lounges when we first got that card, but I will honestly admit that those lounges are a big part of why we keep it year after year (yeah, I know we need to come up with a new plan soon, but right now those lounges are worth the cost for my family).

I'm interpreting your situation as one where you want ONE card to keep things simple but get the most back out of it, is that right? Many of us juggle multiple cards or are constantly signing up for new ones for the signup bonuses to get as many rewards out of it as possible, but in no way would I consider that simple.

A basic 2% cash back card like the Citi Double Cash is the standard to measure against. It has no annual fee (AF), and right now has a $150 signup bonus for spending $500 in the first 3 months. It's not glamorous, it doesn't inspire oohhs and ahhhs, but it gets the job done. Since it's a Citicard, it also has price protection (which is disappearing on many other cards including ones that have a $450 annual fee) and the best extended warranty on purchases, surpassing AMEX and Chase cards. Disclaimer: I do not have this card because there are others I find more compelling for my travel goals.

So the competitors to that card (that I can think of) are :

Chase Freedom - 1% back, with rotating 5% bonus categories. No AF. $150 signup bonus for $500 spend in 90 days.

Chase Freedom Unlimited - 1.5% back everywhere. No AF. $150 signup bonus for $500 spend in 90 days.

Discover - 1% back everywhere (doubled the first year, so 2% in Year 1), rotating 5% bonus categories. No AF.

Bank of America Travel Rewards - 1.5% back everywhere. No AF. $250 signup bonus for $1000 spend in 30 days. BoA will boost that %cash back if you have assets with them in their ecosystem, including Merrill Edge. If you had $100K in the BoA ecosystem, the cash back would increase to 2.625% everywhere. If you had $50K, it would be 2.25%, and if you had $20K it would be 1.875%.

Alliant Credit Union Visa Signature - 3% back the first year with waived AF ($59 starting the 2nd year), in the 2nd year it falls to 2.5%.

Costco Visa - need a Costco membership, there's no signup bonus, but you can earn 4% on gas, 3% on travel/dining, 2% at Costco, and 1% everywhere else.

ETA: Uber Visa, no AF, $100 signup bonus on $500 spend in the first 90 days. 4% dining, 3% hotel & airfare, 2% online purchases, and 1% everywhere else.

Some of us keep a close eye on how many credit cards we open in a 24 mo. period because there are attractive cards issued by Chase that you are locked out of if you have more than 5 in 24 months. The rewards are big, but the bandwidth required to deal with them is bigger too. Probably the best one right now is the Chase Ink Business Preferred card with its 80K UR signup bonus.

You'll have to consider what you find worth your time and effort.

If I’m looking correctly you and your wife are 4/24.....and have opened 3 Chase cards in 4 months....so I’d move away from Chase for a bit.....do you want to stay at 4/24 or go past it ?

Love that strategy, it lines up with my thinking. I want to do the CF CFU double dip for her late in the year or early 2019 because we love the UR's. I do want to go slow with chase. Thank You.
