I love credit cards so much!

@kmc8826 and @striker1064 - from sold out to 4 seats available at $249 each right now - Row N orchestra section.

Thank you for this tip, I had no idea KC did this. I was so close to snagging two of those $249 tickets, but we have something else going on tonight unfortunately. That's an insanely good deal for lower level middle orchestra. Hopefully we'll find more like this tomorrow or over the weekend.

Did we ever determine if BBY sends L3 data to Amex? Need to finish off my Hilton spend in the next two weeks and I was planning to finish it with the BBY deal on Disney GCs, but just occurred to me that may not be a great idea.

You guessed it. This was a $50 Disney Gift Card.

Hubby's IM this morning, "remind me to add you to the Discover account tonight. If i am going to move the cap savings over there for better interest rate then you should be on the account."
Me, "No :)"

Pretty sure he thought I was joking about the reminder :) So I explained that I couldn't get another bonus for it if I was on one already. Got an OK straight away. We're not quite to ' jump and how high? ' level yet but, my, are we close.

(and eternally grateful he mentioned it and didn't just randomly do it :) )

@amalone1013, found this in regards to the hilton gift cards. I am confused on using them for the room rate. Room rate isn't listed, but it technically gets charged to the folio and all billed together with other on property charges. So maybe it works? I am hesitant to buy a bunch until I know.View attachment 342255
hmmm I bought three...I hope I can use them for the room cost!

I agree with @WVMomof3.

If you can spend up to $300 in room charges, I'd go with the Amex SPG.

Both the Amex SPG and Chase Marriott card will earn you 6x Marriott points on Marriott/SPG stays.

The Amex Offer for a $60 statement credit tips the balance in favor of the Amex SPG, if you think you'll spend at least $300.

The CSP will earn you 2x UR on your hotel stay, which could be a good option if you value UR>Marriott. Keep in mind that UR points transfers to Marriott points 1:1.
you can charge Fuel/Picabu etc purchases to your room to try and hit that 300.....

Is that the area over by the carousel and the science center?

All 3 aren't that close to the science center, but where they usually put the rink is by far the closest (maybe a 5-7 min walk?). However, the other two areas are all within a block or two from the rink. Those are just my best guesses as to where the event could be assuming they need a decent amount of space to set up.

And this was your 20th trip? :P

was gonna use my spg biz to refer DH,and get the extra 20k....any downside to this? do we still get the Af waived first year? also triple checking that it doesn't mess with 5/24...
Soooooooo..... if I refer Dh for SPG biz- it doesn't count for 5/24 (right?) ...... can I get an AU for myself on that acct then, and it doesn't count against anything on my accts? I know for a regular card not to Au, what are the 'rules' here?
-------------Wait wait wait..... ETA- I'm trying to figure out (possibly a day late as usual) I'm ineligible for any Marriott upcoming for a while (5/24, plus I have 2 SPG cards, one within the last year).... so should I be considering the Lux as a possibility soon for my acct?
I've been considering getting DH the SPG Biz ,that would leave him eligible for SPG Lux at some point, right? He has no Marriott cards. Or would it be smarter to use Dh's accts for Marriott card? (Biz) i've been reading all the articles and I'm still:crazy: over what to do currently. I know that SPG Biz is looking good for us,but trying to sort out if it's worth it to 'save' spots for Marriott cards somewhere is making me crazy at the moment...please help with some advice on these options.....

If you have an AMEX 10% Staples offer and a RMN $10 off $30 cash back at Staples in-store offer, you can stack those on a $200 MC that is $5 off right now .

$201.95 x .1 = $20.20 statement credit on AMEX
+ $10 RMN cash back

$200 MC for $171.75

In other news, my mortgage payment went thru Plastiq on my CIP! Woo hoo! Almost done with my MSR. Good thing I have the Biz Plat $10K to work on :P
this is instore? how do I find this deal? I was gonna go in later and use my offers together

My willing but uninvolved P2 (DH) is texting me this morning...all the guys at work are getting the new IHG card. It’s a great deal, we should get one! I said I just got you a new card (CIP) and we haven’t even gotten it in the mail yet! I told him maybe we can get one for him later on. I can’t, I’m hoping to get the Sapphires in October. Advice on when for him? He’s 2/24 and he applied for CIP last Monday (7/30). We should be able to finish MSR on that by late September, but the MSR on the IHG would be easy. We’re IHG people, already have points with them and plan to stay IHG 2-3 more nights before the end of the year. Maybe more if DH has to travel for work. I have no idea how long to expect this deal with IHG to last either. Thoughts on that?

SPG Biz won't count against DH's 5/24.

SPG Biz employee card (an AU on biz cards) will not count against your 5/24.

Amex biz cards and their AUs don't report to the bureaus and don't show up on your credit reports.

My attempt at a RMN offer and a MC GC from Staples doesn’t appear to have worked. Hopefully I don’t have any issue using the MC right away. Keep reading about fraud issues.
what do you mean 'hasn't worked'...how do you know if it has? ETA- sorry I'm new to RTMN..... I still haven't seen an instore purchase show as pending from 3 days ago(Big Lots) that should have been totally legit...I sent an email

Thanks! Asked on Reddit too and had someone else say they didn't have a problem doing that deal. Going to make my second stop for it this afternoon. Only had the deal on one card so only four more to go...

I was hoping kmc could get a ticket, but I'm thinking she missed it unless she saw it in the ten minute time frame of me posting it.

And, as of this morning, the last performance prices have been raised to 675-725 on Sep 11 and 12. The highest was $625 all summer. I may have to get the $349 seats - daughter can only do weekend.

Seat prices start changing about a week in advance and it's random. They can go up or down. It's the weirdest set up for trying to snag something.

I can't help with hotels (but I can help with location), but if y'all ever want to try some new and interesting restaurants in DC, let me know! We have Ethiopian, Uyghur, Malaysian, Salvadoran, and a host of others.

Oooh! We are toying with going back to DC and the Willard again during cherry blossom season. I will be asking for foodie advice and options! Or, with all this Hamilton talk, I may be going back sooner rather than later. I guess I do need some foodie advice.

I have 7 Chase cards with future plans to get 2-3 more in the next one - two years. I will want a CIP and a CSR down the road a bit.

I’m at 10 and won’t chance another application. I think patiently waiting is a good strategy.

Well, if you haven't seen Hamilton, just walk across to the Kennedy Center - you are right there. You may be able to get tickets on the KC website - and if you can't, go for standby at 5-7. If it is sold out they do SRO for $49. Also, they have a free performance, usually at 6pm, that you can go for. casual dress is okay for most, but Opera House is a bit special so I wear a nice summer dress, but not everyone does....

They also have Second City until Sunday - improv.

The food in the café is also okay but is a bit pricey.

First we have @Lain mentioning packing cubes. Now @Judique and everyone is discussing Hamilton. Y'all are a bunch of enablers and I dearly love that about everyone! I’m ready to book flights to DC based on this post. I am not throwing away my shot!

Four of us have been entering the lottery on a regular basis and no luck at all.

Most performances have $625 tickets. Some still had $349 when I checked last weekend.

The KC will change the price shown depending on sales - they seem to know what they are doing with these tickets. Plus, right now they are showing sold out for today but by afternoon you might see a few extra chairs thrown in. I've been watching the sales quite closely, first to get my $149 tickets (since then cheapest I've seen were $179) and second to pick up a set for my oldest daughter.

Any seat in the Opera House will be good. We had no complaints with our last row 1st tier seats.

Thanks for the tips! I am going to see if I can convince DH to go see it in DC too. Not sure how to play this. If I go home and cook dinner he wil know something is up. May go with the Foodie angle. @striker1064 - so where would you say is the best foodie experience in DC?

I'm not getting this card, so I haven't looked into all the specifics, but here are the DoC posts about it:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-ihg-premier-100000-point-offer/
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/f-a-q-about-chase-ihg-premier-100000-point-50-deal/

I don't think the current 100k offer has an announced end date.

Deciding when DH should go for the IHG card kind of depends on what the longer roadmap for him looks like.

Technically, DH could go for the IHG now. DH's approval for the CIP last week won't bar him from getting approved for a Chase personal card. (Approvals for Chase biz cards require you to have no other Chase card applications in the last 30 days (0/30). But approvals for Chase personal cards limit you to only two applications every 30 days (2/30).) So, the CIP counts as 1, and DH could still apply for the IHG under 2/30.

However, that would be 2 cards and 2 hard pulls in 1 month. If DH then takes 3-4 months to cool off from Chase, it might be ok. Anything before then might be viewed as risky.

Yes I got on there and it was gone. That is crazy about the ticket pricing. Who knew it would be like airfare?!?
