I love credit cards so much!

Yes, the lower your overall credit limits, — it’s thought — the lower your risk profile and the more likely Chase will auto-approval you for new cards up to a soft limit of about ~50% your total reported household income. Since you cannot reallocate CL from your personal cards to open a business card anyway, it probably makes sense to lower the personal card CLs before applying if you’re pushing 50% of income.

Yes @PolyRob Lain is exactly right (of course). What came to light in my conversation with Chase in getting my CIP approved was not the “business” part of it as much as the fact that I already had too much credit with Chase. That was just my bad. I don’t know if I will apply for another Chase card eventually but if I do I will have cancelled my CIP and drastically cut the credit lines on my other Chase personal cards (of which I have 6!?!)

You live much further than me so I totally get it. Even living closer as I do, I still have to rearrange my day a bit to make driving to Golden work. Just not sure it will be worth it. I wish there had been more chatter about these events so we’d know what to expect (ie. if it’s worth it !!).

From what I’ve read, expect a long line of people waiting to spin a prize wheel, on which you can win Southwest swag like water bottles to RR points from 1k-10k.

I have to say all this credit card/point accumulation has ruined me for staying in hotels. I am in DC at a conference which is at The Watergate. Fancy without cause basically but is where the conference (and paid conference per diem is at). My only thought is “but look there is a Marriott!” “No wait isn’t that IHG that @calypso726 stayed at somewhere around here?” I seriously want to find the IHG for future reference more than go see the next monument etc. :)

In other news my Plastiq ACH payment with the CIP for the home equity loan finally posted to the account a complete 3 business days after it was send date (I said deliver Friday...today Wednesday it posted). I guess next I will try the mortgage which is also with same credit union. Fingers crossed. Thanks again everyone for the Plastiq help/hand holding. You all are awesome!

I need to know more about this infamous IHG hotel! We are there in 2 weeks and staying at a very nice Hyatt. It is refundable though so I am still looking for something that would be better!

Oh, I just realized my extra 20,000 UR posted to my CIP!! This was the bonus from small business week that Chase agreed to give me even though I couldn't apply in branch as I didn't have one in state!
After 2 failed calls and 2 failed SMs...I am also the proud owner of 20,000 additional URs! On my 3rd SM appeal I just went on and on about how I was soooo confused by the mixed messages Chase had sent me. I encouraged them to go back and review the call recording from back in May when they "said I was eligible" (the CSR on that call was ambiguous and definitely didn't agree to give me the points BUT you could also have interpreted what they said as agreeing to match me).

In the end...20k URs for me :D

My attempt at a RMN offer and a MC GC from Staples doesn’t appear to have worked. Hopefully I don’t have any issue using the MC right away. Keep reading about fraud issues.

I have to be honest, I threw in some office supplies because I had a $5 off $25 coupon so those added to my MC purchase (i.e. it wasn't just a MC purchase), and I see the $10 pending on my RMN app. Maybe that makes a difference?? idk

I think I'm going to buy a Costco cash card with the MC. Wholesale clubs don't come back as a category bonus until Q4 on Discover.

I had a fraud issue with a USBank VGC a few years ago on a $500 gift card. It was a hassle, but I did eventually get my money back.

I can use this for dis GC too right?
Actually dh’s everyday Amex has $5/25 Staples, plus 10% at office store, plus 2x points at Staples....would all 3 of those stack with the RMN too!?

Eta: I literally made a Disney GC shopping list today with everywhere I need to go, what cards to use, and the end date for the deal. So much to remember!

I think it should all stack. I know that I ordered 3 x $100 MCs from Staples w DH's BGR last week, and he got 2xMR Staples and the 10% cash back.

I wish I had thought to add something else :( How long did it take for the RMN app to show the purchase as pending? I was thinking about using my $100 MC to immediately order Disney GC's from Sam's. I have a couple of Walmart GC's from SB's I need to use as well.

Congrats! Also, I totally read customer service rep as Chase Sapphire Reserve. :rotfl2:

Can you read too much about credit cards?

I just made the Staples purchase today and the $10 is pending in RMN. On the other hand, I bought a $25 Hulu card from Walgreens yesterday, and the $5 that was pending seems to have disappeared. I also did the $15 Office Depot RMN on Monday and that's showing pending just today. So maybe it can take a couple days? I hope it shows up for you!

So here I am, trying to catch up again. I ended up going back to Socal for a week ten days after we got back from our DL trip, for a family emergency.

I have another WWTDCD (What would the Dis churners do) Chase application question. I double dipped the sapphires in early May. My last Chase app before that was 3 years ago. Recently, I've been thinking about moving away from Chase for a while, after being underwhelmed by the new SW card. I was planning to apply for the Hilton Aspire later this month. Then I read about the 100k offer for the new IHG card and now I don't know what to do. Getting this card would not only get us the 100k bonus, but would save us 30k points on our Dec. trip to DL because of the 4th night free benefit. BUT, of course I'm terrified of a Chase shutdown, as most of us are. I currently hold a Slate, an IHG and the CSR and CSP.

Is it too risky to go for this card when I'm 6/24 and just double dipped three months ago? I feel like the double dip puts a big target on my back.

I totally get that  I want to go back to DC just to stay there. Well, here you go: Driving directions and walking directions from The Watergate to The Willard with maps below. If you go see the White House, the Willard is about 2 short blocks away and conveniently, The Occidental Grill is right there too by the Willard. Excellent place for dinner.

I had to do that when I went out on Tuesday!

Well, I don't like long lines and I don't need anymore water bottles. Obviously, I'd love the RR points. I'll think on it.

Here’s a report from over the weekend about the San Jose and Oakland events: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/94r498/comment/e3odml5?st=JKMIBCJ9&sh=3ec745c9

Past swag included stuff like portable chargers, sunglasses, and tote bags.

Here’s a report from a California Millions event, which sounds like basically the same thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/83v7h8/southwest_california_millions_is_back/dw8j362/

I have 7 Chase cards with future plans to get 2-3 more in the next one - two years. I will want a CIP and a CSR down the road a bit.

@SouthFayetteFan’s has some insight into shutdowns: IHG at 6/24 three months after a Sapphire double dip?

The list of prizes for the one in Baltimore has gift cards to local restaurants, Orioles tickets, as well as a small instax camera, bose Bluetooth speaker, echo dot, tickets to American Idol, and 10K points. It would be an hour drive for me, plus finding parking at Inner Harbor and hanging around for a chance to spin. There's also an $800 value prize of round trip travel. Our high today is only 86 so I gave it a moments consideration and then ditched the idea. Other than the trip which is for 1 person the prizes are anywhere from 15-45 in quantity. The restaurants gift cards are for $60. I guess that will cover one person around here..
