I love credit cards so much!

@amalone1013 Have you decided if you are going to the SW event tomorrow? I can't decide if it's worth making time for it or not? I did finally get an invite from them this afternoon. It doesn't seem well publicized but I don't think that makes us anymore likely to win prizes. I'll just be really annoyed if I go over there just for pretzels lol.
I looked and see an email now. I'll probably skip, I wont be off until 3pm anyways and then would be driving from the Purina plant... then all the way towards Brighton to get home :crazy2: I'm behind on errands and chores too and I've got to work the weekend, so I should probably just get that stuff done.

I'll make DH stop at Best Buy again so we can get $22 with amex offer and swagbucks, that will probably be a better return on my time :P

Firstly, CONGRATS!

:cheer2::jumping1:party::jumping1::bounce:

Secondly, I wish I didn't see the reminder in your post that the 20K MR referral bonus ends tonight...

I had forgotten about it and lost track of time, but it made me rethink self referring for the BGR as consolation, given the fact that I likely won't go for the Marriott Premier Plus since i'm 3/24 now, with one dropping in May. But, I still haven't finalized my CP plans and if I do use a slot, I could lose out on potential opportunities between now and year-end if one emerges since I need one slot for a SW personal if I elect to go for a CP once our current one expires. However, I self-referred for the Green and also referred DH, so the referral cap would only give me 15K MR if I did go for the BGR. Exercised self-restraint because I'm pretty sure I'll be going for the Hilton Biz and a third Amex MSR on top of the Biz Plat would probably make me :faint:.

Maybe I'll consider pushing back CP plans...not sure we even need it early 2019...:scratchin

Here’s another reminder! :lmao:

The Hilton Biz’s 100k points/$3k/3 months, $50 statement credit, first year AF waived offer ends 8/19/18.

How long should you wait to lower your CL once a card comes? I think I need to trim both Sapphires (especially if I want to go for a Chase business card next).

I personally would wait till my first statement. then lower them but it really depends on when you decide you are going to apply for the CIP

also, remember to add an au to you csp for another 5k bonus

Chase may end up doing the cutting for you. There have been a lot of reports in the last few months that Chase has been manually lowering credit lines on the two approved cards following a double dip. You still get the cards, and you’ll get the bonuses when you meet MSR. However, it looks like Chase is aware they’ve approved you for two cards after their algorithm approved you for much higher credit lines on the assumption you were applying for only one card, so they’re mitigating their risk.

A few more tips when proactively reducing credit lines:

- It's best to reduce CLs far enough in advance so that the lowered CLs are reported to the credit report(s) that Chase pulls before submitting a new application. Although you can SM Chase to reduce a CL on a card, and Chase will reduce your CL effective immediately, Chase does not report the reduced CL to the credit bureaus until the close of statement on that card. So although Chase should know how much credit it's extended to you, its approval algorithm may be looking at your credit report and see the higher CL.

- When deciding how much to reduce a CL to, leave an extra $5k in available credit for each new card you may be applying for (and $10k for a CSR) in case you have to move credit from an existing card to open the new card(s).

- Keep in mind that Chase will not let you move credit from personal cards to open a biz card, and vice versa. So when deciding where and how much to reduce CLs, consider what kind of card you’ll be applying for and if you might need to move credit from your personal or your biz cards, and cut accordingly.

Thank you! Also great tip about the AU on CSP. I honestly did not even realize it had a promo for that because I had been concentrating on the CSR since it is the one I plan on keeping after a year.

Thank you! So I can wait and see what Chase does. If it isn't low enough for my liking, I can call or message and adjust, but I have to make sure its before a statement close or its pointless for opening another card.

While I can't transfer the CL from personal to business, can the total extended CL of personal accounts affect the business approval process if it is too much with Chase?

What @Lain just said. Chase gave DH 2 a lot of credit on the double dip, then called about a week after the applications were auto-approved and trimmed back the credit limits on both. DP here - the CSR had a larger $ amount than the CSP, but when they called they put the combined credit at the CSP amount (which was 10K less than the CSR). It isn't an issue for us, but it could be an issue for someone else.

Thank you! I will wait and see what Chase does first. I don't want to limit myself too much.

Yes, the lower your overall credit limits, — it’s thought — the lower your risk profile and the more likely Chase will auto-approval you for new cards up to a soft limit of about ~50% your total reported household income. Since you cannot reallocate CL from your personal cards to open a business card anyway, it probably makes sense to lower the personal card CLs before applying if you’re pushing 50% of income.

Considering a new card:

Last 24 months:
Disney Premier received and product changed to no fee card in last 24 months
AMEX Delta Plat personal (closed today)
AMEX Delta Plat business
Chase Freedom
Chase Sapphire Reserve
AMEX SPG business
Chase Ink Cash

None of these drop from 5/24 until 2019

I have definite expenses for travel of about $3K, due within the next 3 weeks that I was going to put on the CSR and I now have a potential A/C replacement. Not even sure what the cost is going to be yet. But, with both of these, meeting some of the higher bonus spends becomes a bit easier.

Also, the A/C may die sooner rather than later, so cards that provide the card number immediately or expedite delivery might be needed.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance. The posts move so fast it is hard to thank folks when they provided help.

check the link again... u will be relieved.

Thank you :flower3: I am very relieved.
Ahh maybe it will be a viable option down the road :-)

Great, thank you! I will wait and see what Chase does on its own and figure out what thresholds seem appropriate for my spending needs/future cards and request a lower CL if need be.

You live much further than me so I totally get it. Even living closer as I do, I still have to rearrange my day a bit to make driving to Golden work. Just not sure it will be worth it. I wish there had been more chatter about these events so we’d know what to expect (ie. if it’s worth it !!).
