I love credit cards so much!

Im not really open to biz account for my self. DH actually has a side biz that he used to apply for card. My side biz is doing SB.:cool1:
How do the hotel biz cards work? is it the same as a regular bank biz?

What is the Sapphire double dip?

Yep, it's the same application as the CIP. Just instead of earning UR points it'd be the hotel or airline points.

Since Chase has the 1 Sapphire at a time rule, the way to get both bonuses for the CSR and CSP is to apply for both at the same time (approved on same day really) to take advantage of a loop hole. It's 100k+ UR points in bonuses but it's also $8,000 in spend in the same 3 months (4k per card). Unless you have lots of expenses I don't think it's something to rush into without a plan for completing it within the bonus period. Also with the high AF for the CSR you probably want to time it to make the most of the redemption within that year.
Since you got the CIP and a Freedom I assume you want to collect UR points. If you had a plan to use them for travel the CSR gets you 1.5cpp on redemption through Chase vs the CIP (and CSP) 1.25 cpp. And then likewise later on you could refer your DH to both and double up again. But if all that's too much, you could split it and decide you will apply for anything you want and ignore Chase; then keep DH under 5/24 and be selective with his cards until you're ready for one or both Sapphires. If you decide to do that, 2k is half way to either Sapphire MSR (and then get one referral to DH later). The Marriott Premier Plus is 3k MSR. I'm not sure what's a good Airline card :) I know Alaska has transfer partners but not familiar with all the ways to get miles there. This post from @Albort has a chart: Transfer Partner Master Chart updated by Albort Maybe SPG/Marriott is the only transfer? But I think they have their own CC too, just forget who issues it.

Hopefully that makes sense I'm not just rambling :)

Go for it!

Amex credit card approval timing limits don’t affect charge card applications.

I just want to share that I called in and was immediately approved for the AmEx Business Platinum 100K/10K offer. I plan to hit the Business Green self-referral and P2 referral in the next day or two. Time will tell if this messes up the timing I had planned for CIP, SW Business, and SW personal applications, but the offer was too good to pass up. Thank you Lain for the tasty tidbit!

call 800 432 3117 see what your status say. report back when it turns to 2 weeks or 7-10 days.

edit: chase card right?

I got 2 weeks!

So is this really two weeks? Because I have a big expense coming up that needs to be paid next week and would love to knock out a large portion of the MSR with it.

ETA: Just reread the flowchart. Looks like I will be anxiously waiting for the next day or so to call back.

I think I am going to go ahead and go for the double dip today! The time has come!!

So, I am going to apply for the CSR first. If it doesn't get approved immediately, what happens? I know people call to get it through but not sure what the message actually says. Just that they will contact me at a further date?

Any tips?

NEVERMIND! I went for it and got this message: We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision by U.S. mail. This could take up to 30 days.

Guess I will call....

For a double dip, it's usually recommended to start applying early during regular business hours of a non-holiday weekday in case you need to call Chase reconsideration ("recon") or verification departments. Chase Credit Card Reconsideration. Personal: 1-888-270-2127, open: 8am-10pm ET Monday to Friday. 8am-8pm ET Saturday & Sunday. The verification department may have different hours.

For personal cards, be sure you're not running afoul of the 2/30 rule: you can only have two Chase credit card applications every 30 days or you'll likely be denied.

Apply for the card you want first. If you're not instantly approved and perhaps got the we'll let you know in 30 days message, call the automated status line at 1-800-432-3117 to check the status of your application. If you still aren't approved, call recon at 1-888-270-2127 to get it approved. Mention you’re calling (only) about the first application, and ask what can be done to move the application towards approval. They'll likely ask you identity verification questions.

After that first card is approved, use a different internet browser or an incognito window for the second application (and you can even clear the history), so Chase doesn’t get your cookies crossed and think you’re submitting a duplicate application in error. If you're not insta-approved, you can try to wait it out by checking the automated status line after an hour or so, but if you're not approved then call recon again to get the second application approved on the same day as the first approval. If you have to call recon, mention that you are calling about the second card only, and ask how you can help get it approved. You don't want recon realizing you've just been approved for an earlier Sapphire. It's likely an issue with needing to move around credit lines in order to have enough available credit to open up a new card. (Not sure if you have any Chase cards from which you can move credit to a new card. You won't be able to move credit from the newly approved Sapphire card to a second card, nor should you try.) If the rep does mention the other Sapphire card, and asks why we need the two cards, a lot of us just say we want to separate expenses.

Good luck!

We won't judge if you find the need to call back every hour or more. :hourglass

Just a quicky response on this bit, the only time your stuff would affect his credit score is if you make him an Authorized User (AU) on your credit card. Then it'll show up on his report and be factored into his score. Because Chase looks at all credit opened in the last 24 months to determine your 5/24 status, whether it's an AU account or not, the general recommendation here has been to not put your partner (sometimes known as Player 2 :p) as an AU on your cards. That way you can get more cards :) Either double up on the sign up bonuses or alternate who gets what to spread things out.

You can use just your own income when applying or you can use your household income. I believe the criteria is whatever you reasonably have access to, to be able to repay the obligation. So it's up to you if you want to use personal only or use household. But either way what you do doesn't affect him, and vice versa.
Thank you! I don't have any AUs on my accounts and neither does dh. I've not opened any new card accounts in my name in the past 5 years. The Disney visa was the last one I opened, or maybe Best Buy, but that was around the same time. I opened dh's 2 SW accounts last Sept. but I'm not an AU. I made the mistake of allowing BofA to close my oldest cc last year (I think it went back to 1990) because I didn't use it any longer and they told me to use it or lose it. I was already mad at them for telling me I'd have to start paying for my "lifetime free" checking and savings accounts so I let it go and it cost me on the credit score.

I think I'll apply for the business CIP! Thanks to everyone for the great advice. I'll be back with more questions, I'm sure.

if it drops to 2 weeks that quick, im pretty sure u will get the approval notice tomorrow.
Mine was like that, i got 2 weeks within an hour of app, it stayed like that for 30 hours and got the approval. i did apply on a sun morning though so that was a weekend when Chase usually doesnt approve.

What is the Sapphire double dip?

Chase has a so-called "one Sapphire rule," meaning that Chase will only approve new applicants for a Sapphire card (e.g., CSP and CSR) if they don't currently hold a Sapphire card and they haven't received a signup bonus on a Sapphire product in the past 24 months. That means you can only get the CSP or the CSR, and one bonus, not both. Double dipping will get you around the "one Sapphire rule" by applying and getting approved for two Sapphire cards on the same day, before Chase’s system knows you’ve gotten two Sapphire cards. You’re essentially trying to get approved for a second Sapphire card before Chase’s system is updated to recognize that it already approved you for your first Sapphire card.

Thought what the heck and applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve (I'm on a vacation day and bored!) - got the 30 day message. Checked the flow-chart. Called. Got 7-10 business language.

I already knew this would be the case, but still. Womp Womp.

I unfroze my credit reports and everything. I should apply for something else instead.

Sometimes if you take your shot, you win.

Might as well get something else if you can. Good luck!

Yeah BoA did that to me on a CC. Was supposed to have a fixed APR forever (essentially) and then at some point changed the type of card it was so it nullified that and turned it into a variable APR. Really that was the only reason I held onto the card so I have no idea why when it was came up for cancellation for inactivity, use it or lose it, I used it instead of calling in to just cancel it :sad2: Currently I'm just waiting it out and I think it's on the way out next year. I got plenty of new cards this year to replace it on the credit report, hehe, and while it was quite old it's not the oldest so I think it'll be a minor blip on the score.

We're up 10 pages from this morning! Are we trying to break 2000 pages today?

Looks like it! Here's my contribution to that goal:

I posted on Saturday about how to use points to cover expenses other than flight/tickets/hotels at Disney and Universal, and someone suggested adding the Disney Dining Plan if I have enough points. Running the math on the points I would need booking with the CSR, it seems like it might be a great deal, especially if I can stack it with a room discount (right now for example the regular plan costs $75/pp/night, but I would only need 5k UR/pp/night to add it to a package booked through Chase.)

I'm wondering if anyone has done this before and if so what were your experiences? Did you feel like it was a good value for your points? Especially interested in anyone who is a big eater (DH and I eat out a lot! Maybe too much...) and took full advantage of alcholic beverages being included with QS and TS meals starting in 2018!

Yep, it's the same application as the CIP. Just instead of earning UR points it'd be the hotel or airline points.

Hopefully that makes sense I'm not just rambling :)

Both Sapphire cards will probably not be an option.$8k minimum spend is a bit much. $4k is totally doable. I am assuming based on redemption the CSR is the better of the two? If i can only apply for one is this the one to go for?. Since i am already at 4/24 would this not work because i would be applying for two and that would put me over?

I really like the freedom with the spending categories but not tied down to only use UR points. I do have a banking relationship with chase so that makes it easier.

And I have the opposite DP: DH's CIP app went from 30 days to 2 weeks in an hour, and the next morning it changed to 7-10 days. Sorry to be a party pooper.

I *think* I might be ready to apply for the CIP. I have been selling a few items (Disney pins, clothes, jewelry) on ebay/Poshmark in the last few months and would like to increase my sales.

I just wanted to run this all by the experts to make sure I don't mess up. Is the best offer 80k UR through support/public?

Legal Name of business: My Name
Type of Business: Sole Prop
EIN: SSN
Business Category: Retail: Books, Hobbies, Music, Sports, General, Nonstore Retail (????)
Business Type: ?? Nothing seems like "internet retail"

3/24:
1/17: CSR
7/17: Disney Visa
3/18: IHG

The best offer I’ve seen is the 80,000 online...there is a 100,000UR if you apply at a chase branch that I think is still on

Your correct with your name SS and sole proprietor

The categories...are strange...I sell on eBay and applied for the CIP in May...forget what I put down...sorry

And I have the opposite DP: DH's CIP app went from 30 days to 2 weeks in an hour, and the next morning it changed to 7-10 days. Sorry to be a party pooper.

This is what happened with dh's first CIC app also. But i think our experiences are definitely not the norm.

Thanks for the help! I got the 30 day message (and seriously had to look away from my screen while it was "verifying"). What now?

I received the 30 day message too...after an hour it went to a 2 week message...then approved a few days later

Good luck !
