I love credit cards so much!

Yes the rate booking directly is $189 for non refundable. With all the perks included for $10 more, this is a screaming deal. I’m booked. There is a $35 Resort fee- discounted by $5 (normally $40) for FHR bookings.

Disney wanted $240 a night for a moderate-Port Orleans so this was an easy choice.

For those without the Amex Platinum, I’m pretty sure I saw the WA Orlando for $132 a night on Hotwire. Look for 5 star bonnet creek area. Bid on the listing that has a $40 Resort fee.

That is a crazy good rate and I'm totally jealous! Wish I could figure out a way to work in a stay there soon. Enjoy! We'll live vicariously through you.

I would go SNA or Burbank any day Haha. Tho one thing i like about LAX is the terminals split with their own security, that is nice that it spreads the crowd some
Haha that’s what I HATE about it! But I think that’s because 90% of the time I’m at LAX I’m simply passing through and I always need to connect in a different terminal.

I just saw that on Hotwire today too.

Lurker here! I've read the last 40 pages or so and saw discussion about transferring Disney res to Chase. What is the benefit? I assume you can pay with URs? I just received CSP card and have quite a few URs from two Freedom cards.

Yes. It's a way to pay with points. If you have all the points you want to use you could just book it with the cruise and tour department. Or if you want to jump on a discount or just set it up yourself you can book it on disney with the deposit and then transfer to use points on the rest. :)

Would my CSP allow $1.25 for 1 UR this way? Seems like you can save quite a bit this way, if so. I've already made my deposit directly with Disney. I don't currently have enough points to pay off the package (partially contingent on whether I would get 25% bonus on UR) but since I made the deposit, I can wait to pay with points right? Is it the same due date of 30 days prior to trip?

Need some advice. So turns out I’m prequalified for the Amex Platinum 100k/$5k using cardmatch website.

The last card I’ve applied for in the past 2 years was the CIP in March 2018. I’m at 0/24 (I’m also not an AU on any cards that were opened in last 24+ months).

Here are my current Amex cards, how many am I allowed again and does being an AU on DH’s Amex cards impact me for the Amex limit?
1. Amex BCP
2. Blue from Amex (it’s an old card from 1999 that earns membership rewards, no annual fee)
3. Amex Blue Cash (the one that gets 5% back at drugstore and grocery store after spending $6500 in a year)

Assuming I’m ok from an Amex Card limit, anything I should know about? I have plans for the CSP/CSR double dip later this year but wanted to put enough time between that and CIP. I don’t have an issue waiting on the double dip. We’re also in a Delta hub so I envision using for flights but am open to other redemption options.

Thank you!!

Yes your URs would have that 25% bonus. So if your trip was $3,000 with the CSP you would pay 240,000 in URs. (3,000 /.0125)

When did you get your CSP? Maybe do the math and see if the CSR is worth upgrading to. With the CSR that hypothetical $3,000 trip would be 200,000 UR. (3,000 /.015)

You can call the Chase Cruise and tours department to transfer the reservation if the reservation was made within 30 days. If it’s been longer maybe you can rebook if there is availability.

The full payment is only due when Disney requires the payment some reps don’t know this so you may need to call a few times.

I've only had my CSP a couple weeks. Haven't met MSR in it yet but close. I'm slow to this game! We don't fly much and our only flights in the foreseeable future are already booked so not sure I would use the CSR $300 airfare credit. If I could, I would definitely consider CSR.

CSR has a travel credit. Not just airfare. Loads of things qualify like Uber, hotels, train tickets, highway tolls. Anything that codes travel. Pretty sure Undercover Tourist codes travel, so buying WDW tix thru them would trigger the credit. (Tix direct from Disney do not but Disney hotels do)

Since you are in your first year the CSP has no annual fee so I wouldn’t upgrade. You still get a good discount with travel bookings through Chase. For future reference the $300 is a travel credit and can be used for anything that codes as travel. I got reimbursed for my $200 Disney deposit recently. Maybe you would want to upgrade in your second year when they both have an annual fee.

Good to know about the travel credit! We have several trips coming up (only one flight though) and could easily use travel credit. Wondering now if I should refer my DH to CSR...I've been following gift card deal page and now that GC->GC is basically gone, UR points seem much easier and more lucrative anyway

I do love the tiny airports for how easy they are!

One time we ran into people who had an 8hr delay in omaha... at least they have a bar in the terminal...

We always fly out of Omaha. In theory we could fly out of our local airport in Sioux City (population 85,000). But the airport is small and the only airline flying out of it is American and we can fly out so much cheaper out of Omaha or even sometimes Sioux Falls. So we just figure the extra drive time into our plans. But I guess that is why its appropriate that our airport code is SUX.

I dont post on here too often (more of a lurker) but I'd thought you'd all appreciate this.

DH got a new job (yay!) but he needs an entirely new wardrobe (going from jeans to suits). He was looking at shoes online yesterday and (jokingly) wanted my opinion on $600-$1200 shoes and added "don't you have an MSR to meet?" :P:D Even when I think he's not listening, he is!

The Platinum is a Charge card and AFAIK there's no limits to holding charge cards. AmEx only counts credit cards so it won't go against your limit there, which seems to be 5 now for credit.

I would always recommend the Platinum if you’re targeted for the 100k MR offer. Just this week, we laid out the card’s benefits for @EC0323, who then applied and got approved! My thoughts are posted here, and you can find others offering advice thereabouts.

More particular to your situation, Amex doesn’t have any known limits when it comes to their charge cards like the Platinum. You just have to pay these off every month, unless you enroll in a pay over time option (but it’s better to wait for a bonus offer to sign up for that). So the Amex cards you have don’t preclude you from getting the Platinum now. I do notice you have a Blue MR-earning card. That’s great! Because MR points are automatically pooled into a cardmember’s MR account, not held on each card, and remain active as long as there is at least one MR-earning card attached to the account. So if you decide to cancel the Platinum next year when the fee is due, you have the Blue card to hold your MR for no fee.

We’re only in July now. The Platinum’s $5k MSR might keep you busy for the next 3 months. That’ll put you in October. If you’re planning for a Sapphire double dip later this year, that’s over 3 months from when you’ll have opened the new Platinum card in July (even though Amex may not report this new card to your credit reports for another 2 months). Together with the CIP, that’s just two other cards this year. I think you’ll be fine to double dip the CSR and CSP later this year.

I like Omaha too, and I've flown through there many times. I just always feel like the smaller airports you don't have to worry so much about getting there super early or security being bad because they're just can't be that many people...

Ugg, I’m so frustrated. I had that pretty little offer and took a minute to screenshot and post my question and poof it was gone. Never to be seen again.
