I love credit cards so much!

I'm getting close to finishing up my PNC bank account bonus and curious if anyone knows how to confirm a deposit really counted as a DD or not? There's mixed messages going on :)

I pushed 5k from CapOne360 and that seems ok. (I used that cuz of good recent DP's from DoC)
1. I got the Direct Deposit email alert
2. It triggered the DD requirement for the better APY on the growth account.
3. It's categorized as "Direct Deposit" in my transactions

For giggles and kicks I tried 5k from Synchrony this month to keep it fee free, and see if I could get another DP. (I know there's supposed to be a 60 day waiver on the fee anyway, but our plan had been to just keep the 5k avg balance but I goofed that and moved some of the money around so I figured 2 birds one stone for DPs even though I think I'm ok until next month)

3. But it's categorized as "Transfer" in my transactions :scratchin
The difference in this one is a "P2P" note in the transaction details. It doesn't even list the bank in the transaction line like all the other DD's, just Transfer and Transfer as the category. So it's kind of hard to tell if that would have worked for the bonus. And now it's got me wondering if the first one was really good enough because they both counted for points 1 & 2.

Not much I could do about it now - no time for legit DD's even if I had enough to total 5k, so it'd have to be another bank type transfer. So I'll just see what happens after I finish the debit card transactions. But like I said, curious how other folks got on with it.

@vanjust14

2 Adults, 3 day 2 park P2P tickets/2 day 2 park P2P tickets

Universal Direct: $607.04/$564.43
LMT: $544.66/$545.54
UCT: both $541.90 (2 days plus 1 free offer, so same price)
Perks at Work: $560.24/$530.29 (earn $10ish in rewards on this site)
UR portal: $617/$584
AAA: $607.04/$564.46 :confused3

Thanks! I'm going to use UR for some but I need to pay for one ticket. I need 3 day. I appreciate the info...looks like UT it is!

I think the first one should be fine. This was my experience:

5/23 opened PNC Virtual Wallet with Performance Select checking, funded with $2000 from CSR
5/25 $2,000 posted
5/30 pushed $5,000 from PayPal
5/31 $5,000 posted as direct deposit
6/06 Made the last of required 10 debit transactions (amazon reloads)
6/22 Received $300 bonus

I just downgraded to the regular virtual wallet and only need to keep $500 in for the remainder of the 6 months. I've already transferred some money out and no fees.

ETA: I just checked my Paypal DD in PNC and it says :
ACH CREDIT XXXXXXXXX PAYPAL TRANSFER

Are the 10 debit transactions required for PNC? I thought I read they dropped the requirement.

DH is at 2/24 but will be 1/24 after AU drops from his credit report - should be soon. His most recent card is just the other day - CSP. Will easily meet the MSR very soon, maybe next week.

How soon can he apply for the Chase United Card? Still have expenses that can be used to meet MSR for that one. But don't want to jeopardize anything. After the United card he will cool it for a while.

For the one I signed up for at least. They were nice and sent me a confirmation email listing out the requirements and due date:

Thank you for opening a new PNC Virtual Wallet® with Performance Select!
We hope you'll take full advantage of your account's many features and benefits, including the special Cash Reward offer presented to you at account opening.

You're eligible for a $300 cash reward when you meet these two requirements by 8/3/2018:
1.
Establish total qualifying direct deposit(s) of $5,000 to the new account1
AND
2. Use your PNC Visa® Debit Card associated with your new account to make at least 10 purchases2

I'm behind on the debit card purchases. I was trying to do it without Amazon reloads by using it for milk runs and dollar stores and other couple bucks purchases but apparently I just don't do those a lot :D Plus I signed up for another local bank bonus at the same time that has the same 10 debit requirements (that one was nice because that's the only requirement, but a lower payout) so 20 debits just hasn't been happening. I started building up my Amazon balance this week in prep for Prime Day. I was supposed to hit this one quick that way I had time to get in another DD if the first one failed but I'm not sure I'd know now. Live and learn :)

@Lain -wondering. It was my DH's MPX account, but my credit cards. After his CSP arrives I will have to test his MPX again with his card (he has other CC - but we don't use them).

Edit - DH's CSP just came. I activated and paid a tution installment with it and it posted as pending. Then added it to DH's MPX and tried $10 starbucks just to see - it did not work. Same error message. Guess i will just use my MPX account.

You could try to email mileageplusx-agent@united.com with your issue. Warning, it can take them as long as a week to get back to you.

As far as I know they are still required. I would do it just in case!

Ugh, I don't know if we have received that yet. It's my dd's account and I was thinking the debit requirement had changed but I wonder if I am confusing banks. Also I opened Memory and Fidelity for myself and I know those debits came but I cannot remember getting the PNC one.

My DH would so do this. I have been trying to get him to sign up for GE for over a year. He had the credit on CSR then we downgraded it before he “got around” to applying. Now he has a credit on his BOA Premium Rewards Card. I manage all the bills, shopping, DS’s school, soccer, camp etc. I gave him this one thing. So far I haven’t backed down and done it myself but will eventually before we waste another credit.
Can't find @1st*toright original post, too lazy too lazy to go too far back. But the CSR GE benefit is every 4 years - not every year. So maybe it wasn't that big of a fail? I just applied for GE for myself using my MPE, my parents both got the MPE recently and they don't fly enough to use the benefit so I'm using it for my kids' GE application. We'll have to pay for DH's or wait until we get a card with that benefit.

We didn't get any kind of email saying what to do to be eligible for the bonus? Hopefully, I didn't mess something up when I opened the account!

PNC is the one bank that will not let me open an account. Bleh.

P2 got an instant approval for Arrival+ at 7/24 with a mailer she received, so either Barclays is softening on the Arrival+ this time around or the mailer makes a difference. PNC funding would come in real handy right now.

I want to jump in on the bank bonuses, but my DH won't have nothing to do with that - and he handles all of our financials.

I do have my own small checking account with just under $400 in it that I can use. I don't have DD, so that is probably out.

Finn by Chase looks like my best bet, right?

@miztressuz

DP's on DOC say it looks like anything that is listed as ACH CREDIT should count as DD.

Ah ha, yes, that seems to be the key :) I was scouring through there too and just checked back into the PNC account. Most of the deposits that came through as "ACH CREDIT" give a category of "Other Income". I've got a legit DD that does that and the trial deposits from linking accounts all show that. But the main deposit from CapOne is "ACH CREDIT" but gives a category of "Deposit" instead. The latest one from Synchrony is "ACH WEB" and that shows as Transfer with a category of "Transfer".

So Synchrony seems a no go, but I'm hopefully optimistic for the CapOne360 one. Just not sure why it got categorized as Deposit vs Other Income. Thanks!

Ok, yes I will go ahead and do that as well. Can I find the numbers online or do I have to submit in writing or something?

Hmm, Ok so I just checked and my credit limit right now is 81,000. The bulk of it coming from my Disney VISA of all things. I like holding on to that card, but I could close my Citi AA card, although I have some miles I haven't used yet. Besides that I could close some smaller store cards but they won't make a big dent. My BarclayCard I could also close as I am more interested in getting the Chase Sapphire cards.

So here are my questions:

1) Regardless of what way I go next, is $81K to high a limit.. do I need to close something first? I'm thinking it would have to be the BarclayCard if I did as I have unused miles still on AA that I need....
2) If I can get the AU's off to put me at 4/24 (or even better 3/24), do I:
Plan A- go for the CSR alone NOW so that I can use it to book my DVC rental which as to be booked in 2 weeks. Go for CFU or CU in a few weeks?
Plan B- put the DVC rental on my Barclaycard (only gets 2%), wait the 30 days and double dip the CSR/CIP? This only works if I don't close the Barclay Card.. if I do, I would have to put it on Disney which is only 1%...

HELP!!! I am starting to get so frustrated... getting divorced is stressful enough, haha. I just need this figured out.
I did everything online.

If you do the Finn by Chase you won’t be eligible for their checking bonus. Sometimes depending on the banks you can trigger the DD requirement without a DD. You need $500 in the account to keep it fee free. Any chance you can convince your DH to give you a few hundred to play around with? If he won’t budge the Finn one would be a good option just the Chase checking bonus is $300 which is a much higher bonus and you can only do one every 6 months.

lI LOVE Captiva, it is the most relaxing vacation I’ve ever been on but it’s not exactly a good “churn for free” trip since the best way to stay (in my opinion) is to rent a house. Of course the flights are still free though :)

I feel the same way about our family’s trips to Mendocino and Carmel. So relaxing. Love love love those parts of the California coast. My wife and I used to visit a lot more before the little lady came along, and now that the kiddo’s getting old enough to do a lot more of the outdoorsy things we used to love doing, we’re hoping to go more often. Had a great, long Fourth of July weekend up in Mendo, but spots like these aren’t exactly points friendly. No big hotel chains up in Mendo, and we love staying at the Stanford Inn, which isn’t bookable on the UR portal; a few higher end chain hotels down around Monterey and the Carmel Highlands, but we prefer the B&Bs there.

I’m glad to read you’ll be back to one of your favorite places soon. Have so much fun!

ETA: @pillow I haven’t forgotten that I owe you some recommendations for your trip down the Central Coast. I’ll get to it eventually!

I was surprised when I got it. I think PNC and the Fidelity are the only ones we've opened that actually sent a confirmation of the bonus. I thought for PNC I saw it on the Account Summary page after I got online access setup but it's been replaced with some other notice now and I don't easily see a spot to check for it. It was kind of like the email, reminding me to setup the DD to get my bonus. If I clicked it, it opened up the offer with both requirements listed.
