I love credit cards so much!

That doesn't sound like anything was cancelled as they just changed the flight time by a few minutes. That's not uncommon and 5 minutes isn't something you'll get a free change to another flight time off of because it's only 5 minutes, it's not drastically changing anything. I have non stops change a few minutes in either direction all the time.

Example, my redeye to MCO from SEA on Delta in Nov connects in ATL. The flight times changed so I didn't have a valid connection time any more, they changed it without a fee because I would probably miss my flight. A couple weeks ago the flight time changed back to what it had been and meant I could change back to the earlier connection and get into MCO at 8 something instead of 9 something. I called to change the flight and was able to do it without a change fee. Unless you have a connection in LA that this is going to cause to have an invalid connection time I highly doubt they will let you change to something hours later when it's only a 5 min change.

Probably right with only a 5 minute difference. However, it never hurts to ask. Our upcoming Delta flight time was changed by about 30 minutes. It wasn't a big deal really, but I called to ask about being moved to a better flight. The Delta rep couldn't have been nicer and happily moved all 8 of us. Felt like I had won the lottery!

I believe the Sheraton Lounge access with the SPG Biz goes through the end of this month, is that correct? I was reading up on it and it said they should know based on your SPG number linked to your CC (though I know many here had issues getting lounge access), but what I am wondering is if we use DHs SPG number can we still get it? His account is where we are trying to get to 50 nights and the SPG biz is in my name. Does that make sense? Wondering if we can still get lounge access. Still have my $60 off $300 offer on my card and we spent $234 at the Swan. Have a $85 room booked so will effectively be $25 for the night!

I think the room has to be booked with the card but I'm not the expert on this. Daughter had to tweet to get her access on her Chicago work trip and she was expensing it on her card.

I'd pay for it with your card but book it with his number. It's all in your family, right?

In order to get me more nights towards 50, daughter will be booking under my account.

And, where did you find an $85 room?

I need to get as many Chase UR and/or United points as I can by late September/Early October. I do not want business cards or any cards with AF over $100ish. Here is part of my plan:

  • DH is 0/24 so I will refer him to the CSP and after we meet the spend on that I will refer him CF. I will add one of my kids as an AU on each.
  • By the time we get the above mentioned cards I should be under 5/24. I will get the United Mileage Card (waived AF first year, then $95). If they offer extra points for AU, I can do that (not DH)
  • If time allows (I think it will as we can easily meet MSR right now), I will refer DH to the United Mileage Card.
  • Depending on time I may get the CFU for myself.
Any other ways to amass UR and/or United points without business cards or high AF? Also - will all this activity cause suspicion with Chase (shutdown risk?) I have not applied for a Chase card since fall, 2017. My latest card was Jan 2018 - Discover IT. I have been churning very slowly (1-2 cards per year) but want to pick up pace just for a few months and then cool it after October/November.

I actually did look at Coronado since we’ve never stayed there but it costs more than pofq. We definitely won’t be doing deluxe because we are doing bc in October. We will have a lot of resort time though so I’m leaning towards pofq instead of an all star.

Just wanted to say that we stayed at CS last summer for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. We had a refurbished room, and it was very light and bright and thought it had a nice layout. The location was very nice too, it seemed close to all of the parks (we had a car so drove everywhere). We usually stay at DVC resorts for comparison. I've never stayed at POFQ though so can't comment on it.

how about double dipping CSP/CSR. downgrade one card to CF.

I would consider cs if it was a little cheaper and if we weren’t only going for the weekend. I’ll keep that mind for future trips though!

Hmmm. When will the CSR AF post? I know that the fee is worth it, but want very minimal out of pocket expense right now. Chase doesn't wave CSR first year, do they?

Edit: The CSR AF is a bit more than we can handle right now. Will discuss it but I don't think it will be an option, even with the $300 travel credit.

Has anyone used travel insurance? If so, what happens when you pay for a trip with, let’s say UR’s? If you have to cancel the trip for a covered reason do they reimburse you by sending you a check?
I booked a Disney trip a few years back, for my whole family. Used Disney’s insurance, which I believe was Travel Guard at the time. It was $200 and covered everything. I booked flights with miles, everything else (Disney resort, dining plan, tix) on a cc. No idea which card, it was BC (before churning). A month before our trip, my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We cancelled everything and got a check for everything but the miles, there was a fee to reinstate those. Insurance company paid to reinstate the miles.

I have to pick up my DD from Dulles at 9 am on a Monday. It is a little over 3 hrs from my house without morning traffic. Figured might as well spend the night closer. It is the AAA rate from Sheraton Reston.

yeah, but ur looking at 105k bonus points... vs 65k bonus points. see if u have a friend who is willing to pay u $80-$100 for Global Entry if that helps pay for the CSR AF.

Thanks. Make sense. But I have a reluctant player 2.

Do you have a CIP in your household? 80k signup bonus and 3x points plastiq adds up quickly.

:offtopic: Well, sort of.

Speaking of status on airlines, I am reminded of something that happened a few weeks ago. Those of you who are amused by the Plane Princess and his outlook on travel since we began travel hacking may get a kick out of it. I know I did. He cracks me up. But then again, I am very easily amused. Those who aren't, feel free to scroll on by.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Antigua to teach CPR classes at some very nice resorts for the week. Neither of us had ever been there and DH was allowed to come with me on his own dime. So he took the week off from work. We flew in economy for a little over 3 hours. All business class seats were taken both ways so there was no option for the Plane Princess. He didn't complain but did mention how much he appreciates this hobby. Many people travel with just a carry on and sometimes we do too if we have crazy flight schedules and tight connections. No option for that on this trip since I had to bring lots of mannequins, a training defibrillator, first aid supplies etc. that would last for a week of classes. So, I have several large checked bags. When we got to the airport to depart home and check our bags there is a LOOOOOOONG line for economy passengers. We both looked at the line and went :scared1: We gave ourselves plenty of time but Plane Princess is concerned he will miss out on lounge time with that line  Then, we spot the priority line which is empty and as Plane Princess is bemoaning the idea of trudging through the economy line for who knows how long, he notices that the priority line is for business, first AND those who have status with AA :worship: We have gold status! Don't ask me how, because I still don't know. I suspect it was paying for flights with gift cards, MR and UR points when we couldn't find award space with miles. The look of panic disappears from his face and is replaced with relief. We head to the priority line and there is one person being serviced at the counter so we are first in line. Plane Princess looks at the economy line then at me in desperation and says in a rush, "What do we need to do to maintain gold status for next year? I don't ever want to have to stand in a line like that if I can help it. I read something about mileage runs. What are those exactly? Do we need to do one? We can fly to Paris on a cheap flight if we have to and go hit the 2 parks over a weekend just to get in all 12 parks in the same year. Start looking for fare wars to Europe. 2 birds, one stone" I'm standing there listening to this verbal barrage  First it's lie flat seats, next was lounge access, then it's a preference for A380 planes, and now it's maintain the status we still don't quite know how we got. Sigh ...

The funniest thing about all this, at least to me, is that this is so completely out of character for him. He is the most laid back, easy going, low maintenance person I have ever met. He's not picky about anything, happily satisfied with everything. I'm the high maintenance one. But every rule has an exception and for him, it seems to be travel. I'd say I created a monster with this hobby, but that's not quite right. I've created a princess and I think he just earned his tiara.
This cracks me up! (But I, too, am easily amused, lol!) My DH is a very reluctant P2 but had a small taste of the good life on our way to London last week. We changed planes in Las Vegas so we got to try out the Centurion lounge. He LOVED it!!! He was a big fan of the yummy free lunch and cocktails! He also had no complaints about our upgrade to Virgin’s premium economy using points, which was quite nice on the long flight over. We have only ever flown coach before this but we’ll get to business/first class one of these days...baby steps!
