I love credit cards so much!

im not sure where ur getting the 1:0.63. points should be 1:1 unless you need more singapore airline miles for the same flight? is that what your saying?
As for your $1870, which is roughly 187,000 UR points. probably not worth it. but you can also check the chase UR portal to see the prices there... which basically lets u redeem tickets with points based off price.

This is what I'm seeing on Award Hacker.

So you think 187,000 is too much for Economy Premium? I don't really have much to compare it to since I'm a little confused. I'm seeing 320k miles on United's website which seems like a lot.

I referred my friend for the CIP and she received her card today....so should I see the 20,000referral points as pending on Tuesday ?

I'm kind of wondering a similar thing. DH referred me and my card is currently being shipped. When should he expect to see his referral points added?

In my experience, It could be any of the next 3 weeks. Tuesday is typical but not a hard and fast rule (they've posted on other days in the past). Congrats to you both on earning some of the most awesome points in this game!! :)

I have another flight question for anyone who wants to take a crack at it lol. Are there certain conversion rates from UR to miles? Is it different depending on the airline? I'm specifically asking because I'm trying to compare flying with Singapore or through United/ANA. I'm just not really sure how that works. So if a United flight is 35k miles how many points is that?

Okay thanks! I've been on that site before, but I finally found where it shows UR-Miles for each option. So it looks like United and ANA would be 1:1 and Singapore would be 1 to 0.63. So 35k miles through United would be 35k UR if I'm thinking about this correctly.

If I'm seeing $1870 through Singapore's website can I book 1:1 by paying the price instead of using miles? Idk if this even makes sense so I'm sorry if it doesn't. I'm trying to compare prices and see who would be better to go with. The Singapore price is high because it's for Premium Economy instead of Economy.

Are there certain conversion rates from UR to miles? UR points to miles or hotel points are all 1:1

Is it different depending on the airline? Not for a UR transfer to an airline. Flying awards on partner airlines are a whole different ball of wax if that is what you are asking.

So it looks like United and ANA would be 1:1 and Singapore would be 1 to 0.63. No, UR transfers 1:1 to Singapore.

If I'm seeing $1870 through Singapore's website can I book 1:1 by paying the price instead of using miles? You can pay for any flight using UR points even when it isn't a transfer partner. You have to book through the UR portal or call them and tell them which flight you want. Your UR points are worth .0125 or .015 per point depending on the card. If you have a CSP or CIP the $1870 flight would cost you 149,600 UR points out of those accounts since the points are worth .0125. If you have a CSR then it would cost you 124,667 points to pay with points since those points are worth .015 per point.

Absolutely! I'd have a hard time using that many points for business or first even.

I am glad to hear this. We basically have Alaska booked for DCL because everyone says it is so great. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around going to cold, rainy Alaska in May when it is finally getting sunny and hot in TN. I am definitely a beach person. I keep glancing at the southern carib sailings and considering the switch...

Honestly I had the same thoughts before our cruise. It's not beachy, it's going to be cold, etc. And it was cold, but it was also sooooooo amazing. Totally worth losing a few days of summer weather - I'd do it again in a heartbeat. No beaches, but waterfalls (pretty much multiple ones every day), seals, whales, eagles, scenery, and of course the glaciers. We loved our days at sea (you can see land pretty much the whole time) and also loved our port days and adventures.

Oh okay so I would just book through the UR portal or by calling and it will always be 1:1? That makes more sense.

We will just have the CIP cards so will get the .0125 per point. I'm gonna take a break for a little bit and let my head take a rest lol.

No not quite. OK paying for a flight with UR points and booking an award flight with miles are 2 completely different things. Give me a few minutes and I will try to get this explained and use screen shots to show you what I mean.

No, you would transfer UR to airline of your choice 1:1, then book through the airline portal. So for example if you would plan to book a Southwest flight that is 8,000 rapid rewards points, you would transfer UR to Southwest, so 8,000 UR to RR. If you would want to pay with UR you would use the portal or call in and say that same flight was $135 dollars would then use your UR which are worth 0.0125, and if my math is correct would pay 10,800 UR for that same flight.

Thanks so much for all of your help and advice..concentrating on Chase UR points so taking it slow..opening up a new card every 3 months in two player mode.

So in that scenario you would be better off transferring UR to the airline?

which card is this and is it still available? I feel like I asked this before.:sad2:

The elite credit for $3000 spend is on the old Marriott card. They took it away for the new version they rolled out recently. Applications for this one are not still available. Stinks because I can not get referrals for old card but I wanted to keep that credit for spend.

As a DP I believe @pillow was also tracking just when these credits post. I went over $3000 spend on June 15th and have not seen a credit post yet. Will keep checking.

I interrupt this thread to go totally off topic and vent with how hard i'm finding it to plan our MK day in September!! :surfweb: Park hours are short due to MNSSHP (9am-6pm) and for some reason I just can't seem to get a good plan. I think knowing I plan to use CPFP (if still around) is making it harder. Maybe I should just assume 3 FP and then whatever same day I can get after the first 3 are used. I now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

So in that scenario you would be better off transferring UR to the airline?

In this case yes, but you need to run the numbers for all flights to see what the better use of points are. You also need to know how additional taxes and fees have to be paid for the reward booking. In the case of southwest RR program, you are responsible for paying the taxes and fees ~$5.5 per flight, in the case of Chase UR you could pay those fees with additional UR. You need to be sure you are ok with the airline/hotel transfer points because once you transfer from UR you can't transfer back and know the cancellation/refund policy.

So using UR's is like a cash equivalent, where as using airline miles is a whole new currency, you can't compare both of these point values directly and it is even harder to compare between airlines because you are trying to compare 3 currencies. Calypso can fill you in better, as I have no experience comparing multiple airlines. Pretty much stick to SW, and a little bit of united at this point.

Earlier I mentioned the flight sale that is on until tomorrow or the day after so if you search Google flights from LAX- NRT here is what you see for Singapore on March 6th departure and return on March 8th

Google fligh lax nrt.png

If I want to pay the $573 round trip flight with my UR points, I would log on to my Chase account, go to the UR portal and select travel and look up the flight. Here is what I find. It would cost me 38,194 points to pay for that flight with my UR points from my CSR account. If you have a CIP or CSP account then it would cost you 45,840 points.

UR portal SQ flight.png

Now of course I'd want to see if it costs me less for paying with points or for booking an award ticket. So I would check Singapore to see how many points an award flight would be. It is 70,000 miles for an award flight. In this case, I would rather pay with points in the UR portal over transferring points for an award flight.

SQ Krisflyer.png

If I wanted to check other possibilities for partner award space through United then here is what I find. I can see saver award space on ANA for 35,000 miles each way. So 70k miles.

However, I also see business saver awards on ANA for 80,000 miles each way. So 160K miles round trip and the taxes and fees are $45.81.

United partner.jpg

The same business class flight flight in real money costs over $3,528 and if I try to pay with UR points it would cost me 235,260 UR points. Here I am better off transferring 160,000 UR points to United to book the award flight.

Hope this helps.

I feel like we laid out some of this before or around the time you first dipped your toes into credit card rewards, so it might’ve totally missed the mark at the time. I dug up some old posts hoping they may be useful now that you’re really thinking out redemptions.

That actually helps a lot! I guess I might need to narrow my searches down. I've been trying to compare airports I want to fly out of/into and that is why I've been going a little crazy. It's a lot of different searches on a lot of different sites.

Thank you so much! I went and added those links to my document I've been working on so I can access them quickly. I think the big thing for me is narrowing down my airports and going from there. I've been trying to search too many different options and that's where I'm getting the headache.
