This summer will be our first time on the Magic. It's nice to hear that people still like the ship, since some people keep saying the newer ones are better. We sailed on the Wonder and loved it.
This summer is our first time on the Wonder (6.5 weeks to go!). We’ve sailed the others and love the Dream class ships but wanted to see Alaska. Glad you loved the Wonder. I’m sure you’ll love the Magic.

I love the Magic! It was my final of the four to sail (last year, dcl cruise #13) and it's my favorite.

In eleven days I'll be back, whoo hoo :) I hope you enjoy it too !

We’ve been on all 4 ships, but much prefer the Magic and Wonder to the Dream and Fantasy. The newer ships are beatiful but way too crowded for us. We strongly prefer the feel of the smaller ships.

Chase referrals kick in on tuesday, all the points going in instantly?
I dont recall referrals kick in the very next day(approved mon night, referral already idling in my UR portal)... either my self referral kick in the very next day after approval or someone used my referral...

I referred my friend for the CIP and she received her card today....so should I see the 20,000referral points as pending on Tuesday ?

I'm kind of wondering a similar thing. DH referred me and my card is currently being shipped. When should he expect to see his referral points added?

Alaska on the Wonder has been our favorite cruise so far. I would love to go back again some time! Have a great cruise! We're about 6 weeks out from our Magic cruise.

I have another flight question for anyone who wants to take a crack at it lol. Are there certain conversion rates from UR to miles? Is it different depending on the airline? I'm specifically asking because I'm trying to compare flying with Singapore or through United/ANA. I'm just not really sure how that works. So if a United flight is 35k miles how many points is that?

So this is somewhat morbid, but I just read this article on TPG (I know) and it reminded me of something I saw years ago. I was working for a judge on a divorce case and one of the things the couple was arguing over was airline miles, and the wife wanted half of their miles transferred to her. Apparently the airline was saying they could not do it and the miles were non-transferable in divorce, which the husband was trying to explain in court. I remember thinking at the time "who the heck cares, just sign the freaking papers and call it a day." Now I wonder if they were churners...

Really glad we decided not to spend a long 4th of July holiday at Disneyland, where it was 111° today, and we’re having a relaxing few days here instead. Hope everyone got some time to unwind and spend with family and loved ones, and is enjoying the summer.

I forgot to mention, we’re at the Stanford Inn. No chain hotels up here.

Okay thanks! I've been on that site before, but I finally found where it shows UR-Miles for each option. So it looks like United and ANA would be 1:1 and Singapore would be 1 to 0.63. So 35k miles through United would be 35k UR if I'm thinking about this correctly.

If I'm seeing $1870 through Singapore's website can I book 1:1 by paying the price instead of using miles? Idk if this even makes sense so I'm sorry if it doesn't. I'm trying to compare prices and see who would be better to go with. The Singapore price is high because it's for Premium Economy instead of Economy.

ETA: I'm no longer seeing the 35k miles for United so they must be gone. Now I'm seeing 80k and after I went through it was a total of 320k miles +$102 which seems like a lot to me. Am I wrong?

Mine came too. It was like salt in the wound since somehow I missed getting the bonus.
Did you sign up while the promo was active? If so they say it can take up to 9 days (I think, double check the fine print), after that you have every right to contact them & politely demand your bonus.

yikes, thats pushing it with Chase... id avoid chase! your at 5/12 for shut down rules. bring down the 5/12 count down before applying for anything.

Oh geez, I didn't know there was a chase 5/12 rule. :crazy2: Well, I use my Freedom, CSR, and CIP regularly. No clue if that helps as far as avoiding a shut down.

its not a hard encoded rule like 5/24, but getting 5 chase cards within a year, ive seen people get shut down for. Actually, spending money is what makes chase nervous because they think you apply for a load of credit in a short period of time, use your cards, then stop paying them all. they call it a bustout. I think they are slowly denying app for that now... someone recently here got the too many inquiries in a short period of time.
the rule suggested for chase shutdown is to try to stay below 5/12, 3/6, 2/3.
I think your moving too fast with Chase.

@SouthFayetteFan may have a different opinion though. haha. tagged him for his response.
I agree with @Albort. I'd try to wait until October before putting in another Chase application if you want to play it safe. It's all about risk/reward though...if you're planning to blow past 5/24 and move on to non-chase cards then maybe you just roll the dice now. If you have lots of URs you still plan to use in the future though or you're trying to hover around 5/24 for the foreseeable future I'd play it safe. IF you want to play it safe then I'd try to find a couple of AMEX biz cards that can distract you for the next 3-4 months.

I remember that was the chatter, but I can't remember why. Information overload. :crazy2:

Mine still lists the $3000 for a night credit also. I just double checked with the email they sent yesterday too.

Alaska on the Wonder has been our favorite cruise so far. I would love to go back again some time! Have a great cruise! We're about 6 weeks out from our Magic cruise.

I am glad to hear this. We basically have Alaska booked for DCL because everyone says it is so great. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around going to cold, rainy Alaska in May when it is finally getting sunny and hot in TN. I am definitely a beach person. I keep glancing at the southern carib sailings and considering the switch...

im not sure where ur getting the 1:0.63. points should be 1:1 unless you need more singapore airline miles for the same flight? is that what your saying?
As for your $1870, which is roughly 187,000 UR points. probably not worth it. but you can also check the chase UR portal to see the prices there... which basically lets u redeem tickets with points based off price.

DH and I picked up 4 of the cat 1-5 packages. We are only interested in the miles and already got a better value with the travel package than we would have than by just transferring SPG points to an airline.

We now have 4 of the 7 night travel certificates that I have no idea what we will do with. I believe Starwood Lurker insinuated that floater certificates not attached to a hotel reservation will be converted back to points. I’m good with that. I will look into seeing if there is any hotel I’d like before August and attach one of them to a reservation.
Although there's no hard evidence yet to my knowledge, I think the thinking now is that Lurker means they will convert to "equivalent points" i.e. your cert. will be good for properties UP TO 25,000 points for 7 nights. Lurker has been so vague though and a lot of this is based on speculation.
