I love credit cards so much!

Ok. Thanks. He is at 2/24 so he should be fine. I will get him to remove them from his credit report anyway. I SM'd Chase from my account. If that doesn't work he will contact the credit bureau directly.

So once his credit reports show "closed" I will have him apply for the CSP. Any idea how long it will take for this to update?

Well, DH is 2/24, so he could apply for the CSP now and deal with those AU accounts later.

Yes. But I have rather high limits on those cards. So I want to wait until they show "closed" for the best chances of instant approval. Thanks again!

Does anybody else have the Upromise MC? Barclays recently changed the earning structure on this card, the changes went active today, and I'm intrigued by the 15% bonus on the Round Up feature for 529 plans.

Ah, interesting. I know AUs on your cards will count against DH, but I’m not sure and can’t recall ever seeing CLs on your cards on which DH is an AU counting against him.

Probably to be safe than sorry, make the request to remove DH, then wait until after the statement closes for that card. You can sign up DH for CreditKarma, which is free; and although it only pulls from EQ and TU, it’s an easy way to check what cards show up on his credit reports, when they were opened, and what their status is.

Yep. Thanks again. We already have CreditKarma. :-) I check it regularly and will check his even more frequently now that he is removed as AU.

@wendow - do you or DH have any of Chase's Marriott cards (old Premier, new Premier Plus, Marriott Biz, Ritz-Carlton) or received a signup or upgrade bonus on any of those cards in the past 24 months?

The relevant part of DoC's rumor is:
- American Express plans to exclude anybody who has received a sign up or upgrade bonus on any Ritz-Carlton/Marriott credit card in the past 24 months (including Marriott business).
- You will also be excluded if you currently hold or have recently held the Ritz-Carlton [and I'm guessing Marriott] card.
- [American Express] won’t look at whether you’ve had an SPG personal/business card.

So to @disneymagicgirl 's question, if you don't have any Marriott/Ritz-Carlton cards with Chase or received a bonus on a Marriott/Ritz-Carlton card in the past 24 months (and you've only had SPG cards with Amex), you should be able to sign up for the new Amex SPG Luxury when it comes out on 8/1/18.

I have the Marriott Biz, so I may be SOL for the SPG Luxury. But my wife doesn't have any Marriott/Ritz-Carlton cards with Chase (and has only had the SPG Biz), so it may not make sense for her to go for the Marriott cards before going for the SPG Luxury.

My concern is that Chase may implement a corollary rule that bars a signup bonus on its Marriott Premier Plus, Marriott Biz, and new Marriott Biz (rumored to release 8/26) if you have a Marriott/Ritz-Carlton/SPG card or received a bonus on these cards in the past 24 months come 8/1. There's no language like that right now, but we've seen that Chase can implement these "one card/bonus per family rules" into their terms very quickly (e.g., the Sapphires, SW consumer cards, and Marriott consumer cards).

CONGRATULATIONS @disneymagicgirl! Joining in on your approval party! :cool1:

Yes. For example, you can hold all 3 personal Hilton cards (HH, Ascend, Aspire) and the Hilton Biz card if you'd like.

BUT, unlike Chase, Amex limits you to holding only 4-5 credit cards at a time (some people have 5-6 because their Amex cards were converted from other issuers). This limitation does not count Amex's charge cards.

So if you have the SPG Biz, SPG personal, Hilton Biz, that's 3 credit cards, and you have maybe 2 open slots for more Amex credit cards until you cancel something.

Thanks for all of the above :)

Need help picking a hotel in Nashville. They finally listed the hotels with discounts for the one annual work conference I attend. Choice between Westin Nashville (1 block from conv center); JW Marriott Nashville (4 blocks) or Hilton Nashville Downtown (2 blocks). I have the SPG Biz and the Hilton Biz BUT I have to use work CC so not sure how much that matters. I am leaning toward Westin as I normally am very happy with Westins; it is the closest (laziness on my part). Any reviews from my credit card friends to help me out?
I have stayed at the Westin several times for work and have found it to be a great location. Especially for the ease of evening activities for when work ends and playtime can begin.

Does anyone have any thoughts on cruise trip insurance? I've looked on the cruise board and opinions seem to be 50/50 on going with the insurance through DCl vs. a third party. Through DCl it would be $320 and through a third party about $200. We haven't ever insured our previous cruises but feel like it's a wise thing to do. We aren't flying to the port, so the fact that DCL insurance doesn't cover flights doesn't matter to us.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them!
I bought insurance for our trip thru a 3rd party. Looked thru Insure My Trip. DCL insurance is overpriced. I always get insurance for larger or international vacations. And I have used it.

Just be aware that asking Chase to remove DH as an AU won’t remove those accounts from his credit reports.

DH (or you on his behalf) will either have to file a dispute directly with the credit bureaus to remove reference of the credit cards on which he’s no longer an AU; or from DH’s Chase account, SM Chase to request they remove reference to those credit card accounts from his credit reports at each bureau to which Chase reports because he is no longer an AU on those cards, is no longer and has never been financially responsible for those cards.

I was told by a couple people on Reddit that after asking Chase to remove you as an AU, you can then message Chase again once it shows as closed and ask them to have it removed completely from your credit report. I sent both of these messages from DH's Chase account and they acted like they were two separate things and they would take care of it. I know that his AU on the CSP shows as closed, I've not followed up to see if it's removed. I guess I need to pull Transunion or something since I did Experian earlier this year for him.

Unrelated: I received an email earlier about being able to transfer URs to Virgin Atlantic. Is this something new, or are they just sending me out a random email?

Thanks. He is at 2/24 with the AUs so he will be 0/24 when they are removed. CSP is already removed from Chase as of today. I requested removal CF just now. I will continue to check his credit report to see when they drop from there. We move very slowly in this game so he will be back at 2/24 when he gets his own CSP and CF. After that we won't make any moves for a while. I plan to cancel the CSP in a year before the AF hits. May cancel the CF after a year too, even though there is no AF - depends on if family pooling is still around.

Yes, once he earns the UR points I will transfer immediately to my account each month.

Thanks again for your help.
After they are removed from Chase, contact the credit bureau to have them removed. Say he has been removed and was never responsible for charges.

The bill came and it was 20,000 -we about fainted but realized it was pesos and the bill was about $2,000.
Wow, thats a bargain!

All of those are in the same general area, so walkable to most things you'd be wanting to do in your off time. I'd go with Westin if you like the brand. I haven't personally gone inside any of them, so can't vouch for their general condition.

@disneymagicgirl What did you ever decide about a Marriott nights and flights package? I'm on the fence about what to do and feel like I am running out of time!

I am going to buy a cat 6 and upgrade it to a cat 8 when I am ready to use it. I don't have immediate plans to stay at marriott, so was biding my time, but I agree soon would be good. I probably would've have done it already if it didn't require a phone call. I am crossing my fingers they change outstanding certificates to points as I'd prefer that flexibility personally.

Just curious why you are buying the cat 6 now rather than the cat 1-5 if you plan to upgrade anyways? Probably a noob question lol.

Where are you planning to use it?

I need to book a flight for DH. It's an AA flight... it's 17K UR on the UR portal, 21K in the Amex Portal, 20K AA miles.
We have 213K UR
81K MR
0 AA miles.

What's the best way to go about this? I haven't found a way to use MRs yet.

Because *if* they convert outstanding certs to points it is up in the air how they would decide how many points to assign a cat 1-5 certificate, due to the large range.

ETA:So will they give enough points to cover 7 nights at a cat 1 or enough to cover 7 nights at a cat 5...who knows. That is a gamble. Cat 6 seems like less of a gamble to me.

ETA: I am a noob too, I just read about it on flyer talk. :)

@wendow I don't know where I am going. I originally thought Atlantis but @speedyfishy talked me out of that. I really just need some SW points and if I end up with marriott points I could always use those for hockey tournaments and stuff like that. I could also save them for Hawaii some day or we may do the Marco island JW marriott again sometime.

I'm going to join in on the noob questions! I have VERY little knowledge so excuse my ignorance as I have not done my homework. I am in possession of SPG points. I believe SPG offers nights and flights packages, but only up to category 4 I think? I plan to use my points to stay at Swolphin, and I would like some more Southwest points while I'm at it! Is a nights and flights package for swolphin and southwest even possible...or will it be possible? I know there are still some unknowns.

Hmmnn, I have no idea about that. I thought only marriott had the packages.
