I love credit cards so much!

Oh no, I'm glad you got some reservations! I feel anxious because we only have 1 ADR for our trip that is 3 months out! We just weren't 100% sure we were going until a week ago.

We have 3 ADRs total for our trip in 6 weeks  BoG for lunch on arrival day (youngest loves the veggie quinoa option), Rose and Crown for dinner before and watching Illuminations, and HBD for lunch (first time there--several options for the girls' allergy/intolerance needs). Being DVC helps because we always eat breakfast and usually one other meal in each day. Dh has to check in with the office and clients every afternoon, so that makes eating another simple meal in the villa very easy. We're also moving into the eat-at-lounges stage of Disney trips. Nomad Lounge is a huge favorite! Last couples-trip in January dh and I ate at Mizner's Lounge twice :rotfl:

I feel like an idiot for even asking, but what is a CIP? For that matter, what is a UR?

The CIP is a business credit card, the Chase Ink Preferred. It offers a bonus of 80,000 URs when you apply and spend 5k in 3 months.

URs are Ultimate Rewards. This is Chase’s reward program. The points can be used for cash back with a value of 1 cent per point. So 80,000 is worth $800 in cash. Or it can be redeemed for a higher value for travel. You can use Chases travel portal to book various travel including Disney hotels. Or they can be transferred to their travel partners.

ETA: we apply for new cards to help subsidize travel costs. If you want to apply for new cards too we can help provide advice. We just need to know your travel plans, how many cards you have gotten in the last 24 months, travel party, airlines near you etc. everyone here is super helpful so don’t be shy or feel like an idiot for asking a question.

Oh happy day, I have both Sapphire bonuses pending :woohoo:
I've never had that many UR points at once. Lifetime sure, but unspent? never :) It's going to be a good weekend after these statements close.

CSR:
6/7 last purchase
6/8 last purchase posted
6/12 50k bonus listed in "earning on next statement"

CSP:
6/8 last purchase
6/10 last purchase posted
6/13 50k bonus listed in "earning on next statement"

As mentioned previously, a sale on the CSR was reversed after meeting the 4k in spend, dropping total purchases under the threshold on 6/11. We made some additional purchases to cover the needed amount to meet 4k again, but the bonus showed in pending before all those posted. (Sooo not looking forward to the bills next month, but that's future me's problem. I'm dancing today)

So for sure leave yourself at least 3-4 days from post date before statement close at minimum if you want to see it on that statement. Most purchases post the next day but I did have some that took 2 or 3, especially weekend purchases.

Now if I can just figure out where my Dick's purchase went and get in one more dining purchase today, I'll have enough points across all cards for $2,000 in travel discounts using the CSR. I have the portal points from Dick's pending, but the pending $ charge disappeared and item is shipped and should be arriving today. While I normally wouldn't mind a freebie, I'm wanting those points on this statement :)

We have been pretty loyal to Southwest (thanks, companion pass) but they don't do me any good getting to Europe or Asia. So I think I've decided to hitch my wagon to United for airline points. They seem to have decent partner relationships for the foreign trips I'm looking at (decent connections from our local airport etc). I plan to do a nights/flights with Marriott to start my stash, and am looking at the Chase United MileagePlus Club Card and the United Explorer Card to build miles. The annual fee for the Mileage Plus is a little steep- not sure its worth the $450.

I'm at 2/24 with Chase at the moment (no personal cards since last July, last Chase Biz app was in Feb, last app (amex) was in March). We are still working on DH's CSR/CSP MSR, so I won't be applying for another month or so, so I have time, but I've been waffling on which airline to go for, and trying to figure out if it makes sense to go with a co-branded airline card, or do an Amex Plat next.

Anyone with advice specific to United, or thoughts in general?

Hopefully that new wording on AMEX is only effective on new apps, and not those of us who are currently working on MSR.

To jump in the Arizona discussion...we went a couple of years ago. We did not do the Grand Canyon. We started in the burbs of Phoenix, visiting my father in law, and then went to Sedona and a couple of smaller towns for a few days. Sedona, we didn't do the pink jeep, we rented a jeep for a day, and drove the trails ourselves. My husband was in heaven and talks about it still pretty much daily and is dying to do it again. That was about the only thing we did in Sedona, besides a short hike, and thought that was plenty for us. We also stayed a couple of nights in Cottonwood and did some wine tastings. There were at least 3 tasting rooms within a block of our hotel. Darling downtown, good food and lot's of good wine. We also drove to Jerome, which I adored. It's the cutest town to walk around, would actually like to go back there again. Also got kissed by a Giraffe at the Out of Africa park, weird little park, but the giraffe kiss was awesome!

Rumored Chase FREEDOM Q3 5x Bonus Categories:
  • Lyft
  • Walgreens
  • Gas Stations

Well the nice part is not duplicating Discover, I'm going to have a hard enough time trying to max out Restaurants there. If they did that I'd literally put nothing on the CF Q3 then. The downer is hubby was looking forward to using all his own CC's again, now he'll have to add my Freedom to my Discover.

I don't shop at Walgreens or use Lyft and I have the Amex 10% off at Exxon plus I get fuel points at Kroger (which I think Chase doesn't classify as a gas station). So I have no spend I would put on CF in these categories.

I just scheduled my regular car payment through DHs CIP. It won't go through until the end of the month... but I'm so excited! And I got to use fee free dollars :)

Let the 3x UR points come to me...

Hmmm, I didn't think about Kroger gas not classifying. I hope not! Discover classifies it as a gas station... fingers crossed. I'll probably check out the gift card rack at Walgreens, for regular spend items including dining.

I won't bother with Discover, I don't think, because I'll just take 3x UR points instead. I was kind of hoping for restaurants plus maybe another digital payment category :) I guess I need to sign up for lyft for our trip for September.

Costco Visa definitely doesn't classify Kroger gas as gas. I thought Chase didn't but I could be wrong.

I don't think it used to, but I did notice this last time with gas, wasn't it just last quarter?, my Kroger Fuel was coded as gas.

Kroger Fuel definitely codes as gas- I fill up there almost exclusively and did it for the entire first quarter. Though that'll change for me soon with the Exxon Amex deal.

Normally I wouldn't bother trying to max out Discover, but I'm in the cashback match so for 10% we're trying our darnest to squeeze every penny out of it. Otherwise, yeah, UR win's out. I was also hoping for another payments category; that's pretty much the only charges on my Freedom last quarter, PayPal and Chase Pay (at Best Buy).
