When I looked it said a Boeing 777. So we probably don't want that right?

That's where seatguru comes in. Even the same plane class can have different configurations, so not all 777's will have the same amount of seats. You'd want to take note of the flight number on the airline you're looking at and then look up that flight on seatguru and it'll tell you how the plane will look. It'll also give tips for good seat positions.
When I was looking at flights to Italy I picked the flight we took because they had the 2-4-2 layout and we could get in the "2" section. So we didn't have to worry about seat mates at least in our 8 hour non-stop economy flight :)

I've never flown first class before and I honestly don't see DH spending the extra money to get it so we will most likely end up flying economy. We are probably going to fly with United/ANA.

Always Always Always fly with international carrier. their services and planes are much better. Once you get the hang of this hobby, it will enable you to fly J class/F class more affordable. J class RT from west coast to Japan can cost as low as 95k Ultimate Rewards points! Keep racking up those points! One day, that goal will be in sight!

It looks like we may be flying on a 3-4-3 economy flight, but I HAVE to have the window seat even if I have to pay more for it. I just don't do well if I'm not by the window.
you may not have the choice here. 777 are great planes, i was more concern about the seating in economy. I know a lot of airlines have gone from 3-3-3 to 3-4-3 mainly in the 777s. most A380, B747, A350, B787 are mostly the same on all airlines, 777 are the only exception.

Example: EVA airways ~ 3-3-3 and 3-4-3

I got hit with a Chase shutdown today. They approved me for the CIP on May 13 and I am about $2K into my $5K MSR. I logged into my account this morning and they have closed my account. I called and they wouldn't give me any information other than I will receive a letter that will provide more explanation. When I applied, I was at 4/24 and hadn't opened a Chase card since 2015. They did look at my personal Disney and IHG cards and they are both still open. I don't understand why they would approve me for the card and then close it down a couple of weeks later. I'll post more info from the letter once I receive it.

So frustrated.....

Oh...this is what is meant by a shutdown. I've seen it mentioned, but wasn't aware what it was. I know nothing compared to the rest of you, but I'm with you in that why would they approve you and then shut you down a few weeks later. I can't wait to see what the experts say as I continue to grow in my knowledge :-).

Forgot to say that we were together in a seating group of 3 on that long flight. DD was a nervous flyer up until that trip so she had the window ("Mom, that's the arctic! This is the most incredible thing ever!") and dh got the aisle because he's considerably taller and broader than I am. If I had been sitting between two strangers in the middle seat, in economy, on a long haul flight...:scared:

Woah woah woah, second date and already pulling out wallets? Kids move so fast these days, I thought it was at least the 3rd date before the thought of intermingling cards came up. I guess maybe that's points balances and program status now :) (oh I'm not sure I could be with only a Gold member... well, how many lounge passes is that?)

J/K, that sounds like a great start. At least you'd know P2 shouldn't be reluctant. Fingers crossed for you, enjoy it!
What can I say? I'm a fast mover! Only red flag was he likes Hilton and I'm partial to Marriott:)

i think your are first disboards shutdown. :'( did they close all your accounts or just one?
how many cards in the last 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.

Can you answer these questions?

Closing Bank info/relationship:

  • List all your cards and checking accounts with the bank, including denials and pending applications (include opening dates and total credit limits):

  • Stated reason (if given) for shutdown:

  • Was it your bank account(s) or credit card(s) that were shut down - or both?

  • Have you attempted to get your accounts reinstated? How far have you escalated it?
Personal Info:

  • FICO:

  • AAoA:

  • of credit lines opened in last 12 months across all banks / total credit lines:
  • Overall utilization across all credit cards as currently reported to the credit bureaus (:

  • Total Percentage of CL to Income at the bank that shut you down:

  • {Optional} Total debt (student loans, mortgage, personal loans, etc.):
MS Activity:

  • List all methods of MS used:

  • List volume of MS in the last 30 / 90 / 180 days:

  • Do you cycle your credit limits?

  • Have you deposited money orders into a bank account that you have with the bank who shut you down (do you **** where you eat)? If so, what is your volume permonth?

  • How do you usually pay your credit card bill? Have you changed the method by which you do so recently?

  • Ratio or percentage of MS compared to organic:
Spending Behavior / 'Consumer Profile':

  • How much organic spend were you putting on cards issued by the bank who shut you down?

  • Have you ever sold the bank's points to someone else?

  • Have you filed multiple chargebacks with the bank in the past 12 months? If so, how many?

  • Has this bank ever taken adverse action against you before? Has any other bank? If so, when? What happened?

  • Have you in recent history significantly increased or decreased either the level of your organic spend or MS?

  • Do you have any new derogatory marks on your credit report? Are you sure? Have you checked since you were shut down?
Additional Info:

List any additional info that you think is relevant.

@speedyfishy - I (but mainly my daughter) have always looked longingly at an Atlantis Vacation. Just seemed so cool - esp when the kids were younger. Alas it never seemed to fit from a cost/value perspective so we always opted for alternative vacations. Now both kids are well into their teens, it is slightly less appealing and I think your experience has put the final nail in the coffin as far as a potential Atlantis trip goes.

Too bad - but there are so many places to see in the world. I don't think we will mourn the lack of a visit to Atlantis.

How can your boys never have had McDonald’s until 3 weeks ago?!
My younger two have never have McDonald's. We just stopped eating fast food for awhile, then food allergies appeared. We've added a few places back in, but that didn't include McDonald's or Burger King, etc. My son just had Taco Bell last week only because he needed a taco (gluten free food), it was late and convenient to where we were.

I'm so sorry. Please keep us updated! We'll try to figure this out.

There's a Shutdown Reports Megathread on /r/churning that asks about the factors that may have led to a shutdown.

There's also hope that you can plead your case with Chase and they'll reinstate your accounts. See https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8nh7l4/_/dzwibaz/?context=3 I've seen several DPs of accounts being reinstated after you explain, basically, you're opening new cards for their different benefits and bonuses; not because you're a "bust out" risk. You have 30 days to redeem or move any points from the affected card(s), so don't do anything rash and try to get your card(s) reopened first.

Sorry to hear about this. Will be very interested to hear the reasons why this happened.

Maybe I will hold off on the CIP app for DW.

I live there. Well here. You know what I mean. ha!

What area will you be in for work? Downtown Nashville? There are a couple Hilton brands down near Broadway I'd choose if I were doing a staycation.

I'm still waiting on details for the hotel they've chosen. I'm hoping for downtown and thinking we would stay downtown even if it's elsewhere. We are about 6hrs away, so I think we'll drive. One concern I do have, is my husbands truck, he has an F350. Sometimes it's hard to find parking in our town or Charlotte (closest big city). Wondering how hard (or not hard) it will be to maneuver around town. I'm hoping if we stay downtown we can mainly walk. I know this a strange thing to ask/be concerned about...but any take on this?

Y'all, oh my goodness...I'm done. I finally finished the spend on the spg biz. My mortgage went through plastiq again. I actually went way over since I was only $1400 away now and my mortgage is $2200. I don't care though. Huge sigh of relief!! Now to finish the spg personal. I only need $1000! And then...then...gasp...I do not have a MSR anywhere. What to do?? I think I'll wait until we get back from our trip and then apply again for my dh the CIC. If he gets denied again, I'm entering a deep state of depression and y'all will have to pull me out lol.

Funny how quickly you can go from "oh no, how will I meet this spend" to "oh no, I don't have a MSR to work on"

Thats when you know you are in deep...

Yes to Overdrive! I mainly listen to audiobooks and that app is a lifesaver!

I need to google this. My DS10 loves to listen to audiobooks on his little Alexa dot thing while he falls asleep but it is costing me $16/month (so basically $16/book) for audible.

Lots of information you are asking for here and I don't mind sharing, but will need to respond later this evening with more details. In short, I have been over 5/24 for sometime and haven't been involved with Chase credit cards since 2015. I opened a Chase checking and savings in 2017 for the bonus, but closed those earlier this year. They only closed my business card and not my personal cards. All of my spend was organic. I'm anxious to receive the letter and see if it gives any further information. I plan on pleading my case.

If you stay near Broadway, which I assume you would because that is walking to everything, there is a huge new convention center right there with a huge parking garage attached. You could just park it in there and leave it since you'd walk everywhere. I am not sure what the parking for the hotels includes since I've never stayed at any. I think as far as driving down there, you'd be fine getting up and down streets.

ETA: Here is a link to that convention center and garage http://www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com
