@thevalley cant find your post so im quoting this one. yes, it works. but it wont charge as debit, it charges as credit, so it will charge the 2.5%.
i dont think that masterpass would work with it either.
Thanks. I don’t mind the fees. I was just wondering because I just got the Hilton biz and was figuring a way to meet the spend. Would I have to use multiple mcgc at a time or am I able to load 1 card with mortgage and fee included.

As far as I can see so far there is not a downside to opening the Schwab brokerage or checking accounts now. I opened them a few months ago and was not really 100% sure of my plan at that point. It took about 4 weeks for the $100 bonus to post. In addition to MR cashout, I'll use the ATM card to avoid ATM fees when we're overseas this summer. I don't intend on actually doing any trades with the accounts, so I didn't even look at the fee booklet. I haven't seen any fees post to my accounts so far!

Here's the DoC link with instructions on how to open the accounts: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/opening-schwab-brokerage-checking-amex-platinum-credit-card/

Awesome, that's the experience I was looking for :) And thanks for the link, DoC said he got called with an offer of free trades after he opened it up, do you recall anything like that? If they give them to me for free I'll take them :p

Quick off topic (Oh wait nevermind its just several people's 'businesses'), those who sell their old kids clothes on eBay do you have any pointers you could PM me? I have 5 yrs worth of DD's clothes DW was going to get rid of because she does not want to do a garage sale so I figured why not start another 'business' :D I already co-run a big web store so have all the USPS boxes/packaging supplies but thinking it'd be best to go with bags as those ship cheaper but I've never used them with my current products as nothing would arrive in tact. Its been years since I've sold anything on eBay so figured I'd give it a go again.
Has anyone PMd you...if not I will but first look at eBays sold listings for the brand of clothing...some are just not worth your time trying to sell and your better off donating and taking the tax deduction

You're welcome! No, I didn't get a call. Free trades would be nice!

I can't help with hotels because we stayed in Buffalo and did "day" trips over to the falls when we visited, but I will say if you want a view of the falls from your hotel room then book the Canadian side. Because the falls are in the US you only get a kind of side view. I imagine from a tall hotel you'd get a top down view. The best view of the falls head on is from Canada.

When I can get to the pictures I can post the differences.

Ok found some pictures. The Canadian view isn't the best, I keep forgetting I grabbed a ton of photos with my mom's camera but only a couple with ours and since I keep forgetting that I haven't copied hers yet.

Here's the view from the American side. This is way out on the observation platform:

Back on land I don't recall being able to see the 2nd fall in the back (Horseshoe I think it's called), they built the observation platform cantilevered over the water to get this view.

Canadian View (of the falls in the foreground of last pic):

And the view of the same falls from the Maid in the Mist boat tour:

So once we got there and saw it for ourselves we realized why everyone said to view it or stay on the Canadian side if the view was important :) My pictures don't do it justice, being able to see both at once right in front of you is pretty impressive.

Question for all you Schwab folks out there, is there any downside to opening the brokerage account ala @SouthFayetteFan awesome guide to the Schwab AmEx Platinum card? It says no opening or maintenance fees, but there has to be some type of fee, is it just buying/per trade fees? (Their fee booklet is like 20 pages so I'd like some back up I'm not missing something.) I'm not quite at the point where I'm ready to do a Plat run as outlined, but if there's no downside to having one I figure it can't hurt to open it now and have it ready for the future. Plus been thinking about their banking products on and off for a while now so I could add the checking account to it.

Other than it not being very smart, conceivably I can drop money in there, get the small bonus and as long as I don't buy anything with it there's no fees, so I'm good to go? Then at some point if I can't find a better use for MR points I could get the Schwab Plat and go to town?

I got one for my wife in June 2017 - put $100 in the brokerage and $50 in the checking...because...why not? LOL! We got the $100 and have kept it open for a someday Schwab Plat MR run. We have not incurred any fees on the account whatsoever.

We did get a call from somebody wanting to talk about our investing strategy but no pressure or anything.

Excellent. I like concurring stories, thank you both! The only thing that would make it better is CC funding, but really it's free money I suppose I can't be too greedy :)

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures. My 9 year old is getting really excited.

Better be in one of those tented pool villas. Maybe I should plan for this too!

I'm literally just going through the Marriott list for Dubai and Abu Dhabi and picking out how I would do this! Three nights in Dubai at the Marriott Marquis, two nights at the desert resort, two more nights in Abu Dhabi... Remind me to apply for that new Marriott card for DH and I soon.
