I love credit cards so much!

Saw someone post this on Doc's site. See if this helps

"Non-members pay 10% extra… So the $29 gift card is $32, meeting the $30 minimum!"

Also i have a friend in another state that is not anywhere near a sams club either and she just
got the membership to be able to order a few things and Disney Gift Cards. She went through
this special as it is almost free. She used that acorn thing ..whatever that is lol

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/excellent-deal-on-sams-club-membership-gc-vudu-pizza-acorns/

Hope this helps.
I just signed up. I don't even know where a Sam's Club is near me, and have never set foot in one, but I'm a member now! LOL. I had the $15 off $30 on my Blue Cash card, so hopefully the membership purchase counts for that. I read the terms and it doesn't say anything about membership charges being excluded. I had to pay $4 tax on the membership, but between the $15 back from AMEX, $10 GC, and $20 in Acorns I'm pretty much only paying the $4 tax. Oh, and the $25 VUDU credit which I may use if I can figure out how to watch movies from it on our TV. So they paid me to join so I can buy discounted Disney GCs, basically.

Did everyone finish up those SPG spends early? Leave you people alone for Mother's Day and you go application crazy! I love it!!
I have less than $500 left on my SPG Biz, then will move on to SPG personal. I'll probably just use Plastiq to knock that one out though.

Our most proud couponing moment was 96 boxes of cereal that we were paid $0.25 each to carry out of the store LOL.
Now that is extreme! :rotfl:

I never had the patience for couponing, but I did ride the Target->eBay gift card loop for a while until it got shut down. That was fun while it lasted.

Sounds like I need to get some gift cards next time we're at Costco.

unfortunately no Disney gc at Costco. Sams has them though.

As for tickets, collecting discounted GC or using URs is probably the best way to go. There is a whole thread for GCs.

I think there are similarities in “working the system” in both. This hobby (churning) is much more lucrative and much less stressful in my opinion hahaha.

and takes up MUCH less room in the house :) Unfortunately I'm not living down the wall of paper towels in the guest bedroom any time soon. (he could get to the bed and nothing fell on him, where's the problem really? awfully picky for free room :p)

Did you explain that paper towels don't go bad :-) That's how we evaluate things now. Good clearance price on kleenex, great it can sit in my cabinet for several months. Way back when I was doing it I did have to stop with the free toothpaste because I wasn't using it before it went bad and didn't realize it.

Worth a call to see. DH didn’t call to expidite his since we weren’t home when his was approved. It took less than a week to get here.

Once you sign up with plastiq they do send out emails with lower fees here and there.

Congrats! You can call the status line to check if you don’t want to wait in the mail for a letter.

I just check the ur site to see if the charges show 1 or 3 per dollar. If you do decide to use Plastiq you will see your ur account grow a lot faster.

As for keeping track of the spend I use what my monthly statement was, but I also met it before the first statement closed thanks to plastiq.

Dollar items for your checking account to make the transactions would help.
Our checking account transactions have to be at least $10 each.

@amalone1013 - I have decided to un-shun you...referring family is always acceptable. And your earlier error is forgiven in my book! LOL! :rotfl2:

You're just too nice a person to shun :)

Is there a way to get delta flights with ur? I know United works but I’m seeing better flights with delta.

I know there is a couple of Mortgage Officers here... so what are your thoughts on this --> https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8j9e86/impact_of_churningms_on_our_mortgage_observations/

it seems... pretty extreme?

Not a mortgage officer, but my recent/current experience:
First we worked with a non-bank affiliated lender. Loan is going in DH's name, not mine, but they did pull my report to make sure I didn't have any outrageous debt. My CC apps are SW Plus 8/7/16, SW Premier 9/4/16, CSR 1/18/17, CSP 6/16/17, CIP 10/9/17 and SPG Biz 1/10/18. I was not questioned about any of them. DH has no recent apps, he'll get started after closing. That loan was progressing, but fees seemed to keep adding on soooo I convinced DH to contact USAA, much lower on fees. Again, they pulled my report and again, nothing was question. I was on the phone with the guy this time and he said it looked great. Neither said anything about my business cards. I'm sure Amex did an inquiry, I had no relationship with them prior to the SPG card, maybe they didn't. It's been a fairly easy process once we found a house and got an offer accepted.

I was able to pay for the inspection with a credit card, hoping I can pay for the VA appraisal with credit as well ;)

I was a gift card churner before becoming a credit card churner! :rotfl:
I started with coupons way back in the day. I was the coupon queen at Andrews AFB commissary, the manager often stopped when he saw me to see how much I saved. He would even pull coupons for me. A few kids later and I gave up, it was too time consuming while trying to homeschool with an infant. Fast forward a few years and a few grown up kids and I started churning gift cards. When Target-Ebay died I needed something to focus on so naturally credit cards came next lol Now with Best Buy out of the gift card churning, it almost looks like it's all credit cards now.

3% on 20k, 15 transactions over $10 each and they have to be card swipes

3% @ 20k = $600/yr /12 = $50 a month. 15 transaction x $10 = $150 a month. Your losing $100 a month.
Have you considered other solutions?
i got a Consumer Credit union. 3% @ 10k = $300 /12 = $25 a month. 12 transaction x $.50 = $6, profit of $19 a month.

look up expedia... Chase UR portal is basically expedia. if u have a CSR, then its 33% off expedia rates.

So others will be better at this explanation than me (maybe @calypso726) but you could transfer to a partner like AirFrance or Korean and book a Delta flight I think. You also could just book through the Ultimate Rewards portal and redeem your points against the cash cost of the flight.

So yes, it is possible - I would defer to a more expert opinion on which option is best. If you share your exact dates and flight/city pairings, I bet somebody will give some GREAT advice :)

Is there a thread that discusses ticket discounts? I'd love to bookmark if there is. We've used Atom a couple of times, but have just stumbled upon the discounts. Sounds like I need to get some gift cards next time we're at Costco.

There used to be a thread but a lot of the discount codes they allowed quit working. I am on their email list so I get BOGOs occasionally, or $ off codes. They are usually for certain movies. When "Greatest Showman" came out, they had a BOGO on the tickets that only lasted for a few hours so you had to be on it.

I definitely want to stay stocked up on the GC's. Our family usually goes to the first morning showing b/c the cost is $5 (amc). If we pay with GC's we got at 35%, we are hardly paying more than the $2.50 theater we have (which is kind of yucky compared to the AMC), and it's where the movies go when they are about to hit dvd.
