how is delta for redeeming points? I;ve never flown them but this sounds so easy to get

Delta has no set award chart. Some flights are priced high but there are deals to be found. I'm heavy into Delta because of my main airport. If you know of a route you want, either book early or stalk the website. Delta does run mileage sales quite often. This is the blog for all things Delta https://renespoints.boardingarea.com/

I am planning to apply for the CIC in the next month, before the promo ends. I got the CIP a little less than two months ago. I have no plans to keep the CIP long term, since I have a CSR and the only other bonus I would use on the CIP is the internet/phone/cable, which is also on the CIC. So I plan to get rid of the card when the annual fee hits next year. What would be the options? If I cancelled, that could free up a spot for a different Chase business card. Since I would (hopefully) also have CIC, I don't see much point in downgrading to another CIC. I doubt we would use more than the $25k in bonus categories. Any thoughts?
Cancel CIP then.

Same! I went away from home for most of the summer starting really early. Took my very first airplane ride all by myself at 7yo. SWA :) I was very independent. I was always so puzzled by the kids at camp who cried for their parents lol. Now I have four kids who would all cry if they were going away from me for very long!
I felt independent when I took my first solo trip with a plane ride too- admittedly I was 18 & visiting a college before I could handle that!

To all you parents who might have kids visiting colleges out of state in the next few years don’t forget to save some miles for that! Anything you don’t use you could use for vacay (or to cover flight costs if they decide the perfect college is on the other side of the country!)

As an opportunistic points hoarder that will never be under 5/24, I’ve picked up Delta cards when convenient. As far as using Delta Sky Pesos, I’d rather listen to an audio version of War & Peace narrated by Fran Drescher.

:rotfl2: duly noted...I won't bother with the hassle then you have far greater tolerance for this game than I do already!

They get a bad rap because flights are sometimes crazy expensive versus other airlines & crazy expensive in miles vs cash. When traveling with fam I’m looking at flights to Hawaii or FL mostly and FL is a bit of a sweet spot on their award chart for us & the smaller west coast airports we fly out of. I got almost 2cpp on our comfort+ redemption for fall. If we wanted to do HI however their prices are horrendous, even in miles (3x what I’d pay on other airlines). Play around with searching potential awards using the 5 week flexible search to get a feel for it, that helped me and I got our FL the lowest I’ve seen them all year that way. Also, card holders can redeem at 1cpp against the cash rate so there are never blackouts, that’s the base redemption value for me. (Others the base redemption is cashing out for gift cards at 0.7cpp because they never fly DL).

Imho this offer is good for someone who needs the lower spend of $1K, other offers lately have required $2K in 3 months & another 1K within 6 months (which are still easier than other cards $3k in 3 months). It should be (YMMV) great for someone wanting Delta miles who already had the card due to the lack of once in a lifetime language if they can pull the offer.

The $50 statement credit is something to remember. Only valid for Delta purchase (website or onboard) in first 3 months. Those not flying Delta buy a Delta gift card for $50. I didn’t want to go that route because I don’t have use for a DL gc & didn’t want to hassle with selling it. I was actually flying DL within 3 months so I bought a pair of $2 headphones to get my $50. DoC says they’ve seen up to $100 statement credits offered on this card but I chose not to wait since I was flying DL anyway last year ($50 saved on bag fees) and wanted to start accumulating some DL miles.

I’ve looked at DL for short hops in CA but they’re practically useless on the West Coast and for my New Orleans trip but prices were ridiculous. Some people find the best value in their international redmeptions but I haven’t researched those.

After 7 long years, I think I have a plan to get us back to Disney. I just need to wait till my SPG points transfer to my DH. Anyone know how long that takes? I put the request in yesterday. I feel silly saying this on a Disney board, but I am now clueless about Disney! We were experts back in the day, we zigged when they zagged. :smooth::smooth: But now, I have zero clue what to do. Anyone have any tips? We are already behind because we are within the 60 day FP window, but I assume I can't even do them till I book the hotel? And I guess purchase tickets. I plan to do that with CSR and use my points and will book the Swan, I hope, with the SPG points. Universal really had us spoiled these last few years, it is sooooo easy there. No planning whatsoever. I loved it. Now off to actually read other parts of the DIS to get some tips. Budget board and sometimes Community board are really the only 2 boards I have been on in the last few years.

Idk SPG but you’ll need to book the hotel & have purchased the tickets to get FPs.

Hahaha, DH is the same way. He has no clue since I do all the finances. I didn't even tell him the dollar amount of the MSR. He would probably faint!

See I do tell DH that we have a new card and have to meet the spend. He then gets online and in 5 minutes we have spent 1k. But that is not a good thing...once I meet this 5k on Amex we have decided that the #enablersareus has to end and I will cool off getting a new card for a bit and he will really taper his spending. We need to build our savings back up! Since January I have got 4 new cards and he has got 1.

You just need to run scenarios from your home airport. You can check how much with miles without having miles. See for us being a Delta hostage Delta is by far the easiest airline, the cheapest airline, and the one where you can redeem for the least amount of points. My father in law flew to CA last week to see grandkids and was commenting last night he needs my help to figure out how to do it as cheap as possible. Delta was the only airline with the non stop flights and he could fly there back and forth for 16k. For us getting to MCO all the other airlines all have stops and are almost double the price and miles. No award chart but Delta has the flash sales (they just had one for Caribbean last week) and it makes flights cheap. We took a direct flight to Maui in February for 35k miles each. At the same time they were advertising flights to Alaska for 20k. So in that case @gottalovepluto and the latest deal on the Delta Gold Personal is awesome.

Tickets purchased through Undercover Tourist code as travel with your CSR, so 3x points. If you have a My Disney Experience Account, you can purchase E-tickets, link them to your account, and make fast passes today. Then later, when you have your hotel reservation you can link that to your MDE account.

I thought you needed to be a hotel guest to make FPs more than 30 days out? Do they not check?

I started doing overnight camp in 4th grade and loved it. I went to 8 weeks in the summers for several years. I probably would have loved an exchange program! I think it really depends on the kid.
It’s an 8 week program, She’s super excited and she’ll be with her friends and super excited to go to Europe. I’ve never been.

:offtopic: Sorta kinda again since I was asked to share Dapper pics. We are at Dapper Days in WDW this weekend and are Dapper bounding Merida (Brave) and Anna (Frozen) this time. I have a new appreciation for Amazon Prime Wardrobe after getting outfits together for 2 Dapper bounding weekends. I will definitely be renewing my Amazon Prime membership and will be happy to use any Amex offers or MR point offers to do so.

Two questions about the PP lounges...
Do you tip? I felt really bad that we did not. We didn't have any small bills, used to putting everything on the CC and tipping on there. But was not sure if you are expected to? She did bring us a couple drinks.

Must you have the same boarding pass to get the guest in? My MIL is flying in for a visit next month. She happens to be flying out at the same time my DH is leaving for a business trip. Just wondering if he will be able to get her in since they do not have the same flight. He can not leave her, she is disabled. He will be crushed if he cant use the lounge, lol. He really enjoys it.

we tipped the bartender. also the lady who helped me with the food as I needed the ingredients due to food allergies and also she was nice enough to get me fresh food from the kitchen to avoid cross contamination.
I didnt see anyone tipping though so not sure if its expected or not.

CIP 100,000 UR bonus confirmed.

Now to work on getting that match next week.
please let us know what you put in your sm and if it works. DH acct the sm to get the extra 20k was denied told to go in branch. hoping yours goes through and then I can help dh get his :-)

Guys - the answer here is ALWAYS be MSRing LOL!
Just started this year but I think I am addicted to MSR. Two cards (DH's CIP and my IHG) have MSR still to be met but it is all planned out and in my mind done! I feel antsy by spending on cards without MSR.

Next up CIC. Tomorrow is 30 days after my last Chase card approval, IHG. I'll probably wait until next week, in my feeble attempt to be patient :P.

In travel news, my SW flights in May went down in price so I rebooked. I do like their new format to check if your flights are lower price. Also, Costco had a deal on rental cars and I was able to rebook at a lower price and get a $20 Costco cash card.

I need some expert opinions! I am running ahead of schedule on our two SPG Biz cards (is that good or bad? :scratchin)--one down, $2700 to go on the other. That being said I might need to shoehorn another application (or five :hyper:) in but I want to make sure we are not missing anything obvious and also that we don't jeopardize my current plans. Red are 5/24 spots.

DH cards: SPG Biz (4/18), Google Credit:headache: (1/18), CSR AU (12/17), Chase Ink+ ($85 AF due 6/1, planning to cancel), Chase Disney, CF, (Irrelevant cards: Arrival, Discover IT)
My cards: SPG Biz (3/18), CSR (12/17), Target card (3/17), CF, Amex BCP, (Irrelevant cards: Arrival, Discover IT, Commence)

My app plans were:
Me: Marriott personal 100k in May
DH: SW Biz+SW Personal in Oct/Nov for CP in 2019/2020.

We do about $3500 in organic spend per month but can get another $2500 if using Plastiq/Money Orders. The SW CP is the only thing I am really not wanting to mess up. I feel like the CIC or the CIP are calling my name but not sure who should get it (me or DH) or which card. My ideal point currencies are UR's and Starriott (basically programs with easy transfers to SW/BA/Alaska).
