I love credit cards so much!

We did this trip two years ago - LA and SF. We flew into LA and toured, then drove to SF, and flew out of SF. Our initial plan was to drive to SF and drop the car at a National center in downtown SF. My DH ended up having to drive back to LA for a meeting, so we kept the car. The valet fee was around $75 per night in SF! It is a long drive and would be better if you took the scenic route along the coast, but we were under time constraints.

At Disneyland, we stayed at the Park Vue Inn and it is literally right across the street from the entrance. Breakfast was very minimal and has doors that open to the outside. My BIL stayed at the Hilton and is a really long walk. Here is a good review of the hotels. http://www.disneytouristblog.com/disneyland-anaheim-hotels-reviews-rankings/ If we go back, I definitely want to try and stay at the Grand Californian! In SF, we stayed at the Grand Hyatt. It was a nice hotel and the club lounge saved us a ton of money. (Did a status match from Hilton). It was crazy busy in the lounge and there weren't enough seats, so we would carry our breakfasts back to the room. The breakfasts were good and the evening apps were almost a meal on a few nights.

Thanks!! I'd rather drive to take in some extra scenery, but the one way car rentals seemed crazy expensive. I have time to figure that out though, was just checking prices for this summer so i'd have an idea for next.

My 4th grades was accepted in the exchange program next fall (she’ll be a 5th grader), all these points and I’m going to have to pay cash to fly her to/from Spain, won’t even earn miles

omgosh my boys won't even go to sleep away camp 15 mins down the road. You have one very independent young lady! Congrats!

Just hit the MSR on DH's new CIP before the first statement closes next week. :yay: It is amazing how much easier visa is than amex.

I have $1650 left on my spg personal and then on to dh's spg biz $5k. :tiptoe:

My hat off to you. I can't imagine keeping track of or trying to meet more than one spend at a time. That being said, my Amex is going better than I had expected and I only have about $900 left for my MSR. I maybe could have gone for the 35,000 points but I just don't feel a need to stress myself.

My 0300 alarm went off again this morning. I checked out the timeshare inventory and found a nice Hyatt in the Naples area for the end of Sept. I have a room on Longboat Key in the beginning of Sept but my DGD wouldn't be able to come. It would have been during her first week of kindergarten and there would just be no way to justify that. I think bringing her in the end of Sept will be fine. Now I just need to decide what to do with the Sept 1 week:confused3 I can cancel but hate to let such a nice week go back.

YAY!! :yay: I feel like I am officially on my way to some free travel! DH has over 90K UR on his first CIP statement. We hit the MSR easily by paying bills and using Plastiq for the ones that I couldn’t charge directly. And I just got my new SPG Biz in the mail and put it to use immediately on a few bills LOL.

Now, the question is - should I pay my cable and phone bills using my new SPG, or continue to use the CIP (for the 3x points). I will have enough expenses to hit the SPG MSR either way within the 3 month period.

I'm unsure what the grandfathered thing is for this..... I have an acct, at times, others in my fam have used my acct for shipping...is this not a general policy? what did I miss?
ETA..... I'm torn. I think 119 is way too high.... and their prices aren;t always the best anymore.... but I do love the convenience...and the customer service is SOOOOO good (I posted in another forum about a Prime now order that went all wrong in a big way, but they fixed it ASAP for us) I never watch the video stuff (I have hulu and netflix) so now I have to decide I guess...... if the gc trick works, would we have to buy before May 11?

I have not been on at all today so not sure if anyone else posted and cleared this up for you...When Prime first began, you could allow up to 4 households to be on the account (with their own account and logins). Back in maybe 2009 or so, Amazon changed the policy that only one account could receive the Prime benefit. All current accounts were grandfathered in to the old plan, but if you cancel or change the account in any way, you would lose that benefit. So, I keep my prime, even when I am annoyed with them. My mom uses my account a ton, and I don't want to give her my login and have her able to see all my purchases, so I like that she can use my Prime but through her own account. Same for my dh's work account. My girl's share an account and they are my 4th account. So, 4 different accounts all on one Prime membership.

And yes, the customer service is awesome. I still get a lot of value from Prime but I could see where others may not.

Really? No one else watches The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Prime? Fabulous show!

Never heard of it lol! We don't watch a ton on Prime though. I'll have to check this one out now that you mentioned it though.

I ask myself the same question often. It ends up that I am impatient, so I put everything towards the MSR in progress instead of on whichever card is best. I am going to take an app break now, so once I finish my current MSRs I can go back to using the cards I have for the best point opportunities.

I do the same. I just put all purchases on whatever card(s) I am meeting spend on. I miss my old cards though so I may go back to those for a bit OR I may do the CFU 3x everything offer. I'm still stuck mentally on all the UR's I could earn this way! And I do love me some UR's :)

I have such a hard time giving up the better points bonus for MSR....like it pains me to do it, lol. I'm currently working on $7,000 MSR for the SPG biz and I still pay my cable, internet, and cell phone with my CIP. It really killed me to pay my mortgage with Plastiq and incur the fee without getting 3x, but I knew I wouldn't make MSR without doing it. I'm really hoping I will only have to do that once!

Guys - the answer here is ALWAYS be MSRing LOL! All spend goes to an MSR all the time. That’s the @SouthFayetteFan Motto! (Yes I just referred to myself in 3rd person)

I would think if you got rid of the AU and that was the reason that he was declined, then his chances are probably good. And rental property is a real business, so that makes it easier.

Also, we don't know if it will be offered only in branch until the offer is live on Sunday, so there may still be hope.
Fingers crossed because I don’t think DH stands up well to questioning even if the business is legit. I hate listening to him even make a phone call because the stammering drives me nuts (and he’s in sales so normally talks on the phone a lot).

I thought the same! My kid won’t stay at grandma’s. :sad2:

Agreed. The one way fare is crazy, but it is nice to have a car. We are debating doing the one way fare again this summer between PDX and SEA. Since my DH had to go back to LA for a meeting, we were able to reprice the rental and actually saved money. Definitely helped with the ridiculous valet fees in SF.

Ugh, rental needs new roof. First estimate $3600, 3% fee for credit cards. It may kill me but I think I’m gonna have to pay cash. Waiting for other estimates. Maybe one of the other contractors will take cc without a fee.

one of the properties i watch had an exploding wall heater. the contractor wanted 4% fee. I used plastiq @ 2.5%.

I'm with you. It's freaking me out a little to have 3 MSR's at the same time but I'm still putting category stuff on other cards because I just can't not do it :teeth: But I only opened the cards because I knew I was spending money outside of our normal purchases to meet the bonuses. I'm not in danger of not making it, but it'll be 8 weeks to complete the SPG Biz and I originally figured on 4. If I was just using normal expenses I would probably need the full 3 months because I'd be still throwing stuff on better earning cards as I go.
When we first started discussing playing the bonus game, the other half went all  wow 4k in 3 months? that's a lot! And I'm like wow, you need to pay the bills for a while ;)
