I love credit cards so much!

I hate the new site. I find it hard to navigate.

A couple things were easier to find for me but all in all I agree. I don't like the new stuff designed for more touchscreen thingies (supposedly), somehow I have to 'touch' the screen more often than before they "optimized" it... not sure how that makes it better.

But on another note, I was going to tag you as I believe your DH is working for a small sized company looking for travel discounts? I have no personal knowledge of this service, but one of the societies I belong to just sent out info on Hotel Engine (hotelengine.com). It was designed for small to mid sized business to join up and get hotel discounts like big corporate clients get. One the FAQ's did say some hotels may consider it a 3rd party booking and thus don't earn rewards points so you'd have to check with the hotels to see how it gets classed. But thought I'd mention it if he wants to offer it as a option to his boss, assuming you'd still get the rewards points of course :P. (the business joins and can then add employees as users or something like that)

I found an awesome deal on Friday. I had picked a Courtyard near the airport when I booked the trip weeks ago because it was convenient and reasonably priced. I was looking at the Southwest travel site and found the same hotel for a little cheaper (saved the company $100 between me and my colleague) AND we each got 7000 RR points for a 2 night stay! Saved the company money, got RRs, met a little more of the MSR on my CIP, earned URs AND got brownie points from my colleague for telling him about the deal :cheer2:
Wow, what a deal! I never think to check there, but I will start now. 7000 RR can get me a one way ticket to Orlando!

Surge pricing would be my only worry. We'll be going to the Queen Mary first thing Saturday morning and I have a 9:30pm flight out of SNA on Sunday, so just need to be there for that. Maybe I'll make a back up car rental just in case of surging, since there's no cancellation penalty. Thanks!

I would think you'd be ok on a Sunday night, but I don't know LA at all. I used Lyft earlier this week to get from Oakland into San Fransisco for dinner - had a rental car, but don't know the city at all and didn't want to deal with parking/tolls etc. It was raining - it cost me ~20 to get across the bridge to where I was going (at like 6pm). Just for fun I checked what the fare would be the other direction - it told me over $100! Fortunately by the time dinner was over, the rain had let up and my Lyft back to the hotel was only another $20. Phew...

Ok, so it has been a while since I was last following along on this thread. I have been wanting to open the CIP, but wanted to wait until I had enough big purchases coming up so that I could meet the minimum spend easily enough. We are going to be starting work our basement, plus I just sold a sewing machine on eBay for my friend. Since I have to buy the machine out of her inventory for $1300, I want to put that on the CIP.

I am going to claim the eBay sales as my business, since that is small, but legit. Is there anything new that has come up with Chase in the past few months that I should know before applying? I am currently at 4/24, my recent cards are:

Chase Sapphire Reserve - October 2016
Chase Marriott - April 2017
Chase Freedom Unlimited - May 2017
Chase IHG - July 2017

Any help is really appreciated!

I did not get one for SPG biz and that seems pretty consistent with everyone else here. The only one I recall recently I think was @calypso726 with the Hilton card.

Yup! I got a temporary number on my Hilton Aspire right after applying and used it to make the spend all in one shot. The points posted pretty quickly too.

question regarding BA avios and AA awards.... if I see on AA site 2 award levels for economy either 20k or 22.5k for a flight, does that mean the BA award is only available on the lowest one for the 12.5k avios?

@hsmamato2 - First, you need to click on the saver economy box and see if the flight is actually a saver award. If is is grey then it is not.

BA is distance based. So the number of Avios you need will depend on the distance flown. It will cost me more Avios on an AA operated flight books with BA Avios to fly from Florida to Hawaii than it would for someone from LA to Hawaii even though both say 22,000 AA miles. Hope that helps.

I recall that post vividly, it was a " you're my idol" moment so I'm glad I remembered the right person :D

PSA - Toys R Us is no longer opening new lines of credit (Synchrony Bank) effective today and those that use Gift of College cards...they are no longer being sold now either.

Nice to see you back here :) You should be good to go on the CIP. How nice to already have $1300 of the spend met!

The only new thing I can think of since you were here last is we have a DISchurners group where we share links to help each other out. If you would like to join that, you can pm @Albort or @SouthFayetteFan.

How's life with a little one?

Thanks. It definitely is nice to have a big piece of the spend already covered. And I will be ordering some things for the basement soon, which will easily put me over for the rest. I am happy to join the DISchurners group.

And life with DD is great. Things felt very overwhelming at first as there were some health issues. But things are smoother now and we have gotten into more of a routine, so it feels much easier. DD is simply awesome. She is just the happiest baby that I have ever seen. Always smiling and laughing. I get to book our Disney trip next month and just can't wait.

To those who can do the Chase bank $300 checking account after ANY direct deposit, my advice is to do it. It's so easy. I haven't even stepped into a Chase Bank since October yet my $300 posted yesterday after a DD of $50. Doc's website has online links for those who qualify. Opened the account around March 1st or so funded with my PNC debit card. DD on March 8th, $300 bonus posted on 3/14/18.
I have 2 checking accounts with Chase, can I get a 3rd and get the bonus?

My first baby was born with some health issues as well. It's completely overwhelming to deal with that and being a new mom all at the same time. Glad to hear things are better and you get to plan a Disney trip with her!

I was wondering if I could get two checking accounts so I could get the bonus! How do you get two? Just open another? Does it need to be in a different name? Our checking account is joint with both dh & I on the account.

Welcome back, and congratulations on DD! party:

This thread has been moving at lightning speed, so no one will bat an eyelash if you ask about something we've been talking a lot about lately.

There are some great AMEX offers out right now if you can take advantage. I saw the $45 after $250 spend at Curio collection/Hilton and the $10 off $50 at Lowes on my Platinum card. There's also a $100 off $500 on various cruise lines. Just added a Kimpton one too. Spend $300 at Kimpton and get back $60.

Well, I applied for the CIP online. Once I hit submit, I got a message to call in and give a reference number. They asked to verify my identity using text message and then put me on hold for 2 minutes. The service rep got back on the line and said, "Congratulations, you have been approved." No questions at all about my business. YAY!

DH and I are on both accounts, I’m sure I could get a 3rd but I only want a 3rd for the bonus.
