I love credit cards so much!

For all of you who have been waiting for a higher offer on the SPG Biz, here it is:

Earn 35,000 bonus Starpoints after you make $7,000 in purchases within the first 3 months. Annual fee is waived for the first year, then $95. Offer ends 3/28/2018.

https://www.americanexpress.com/us/...ss-credit-cards/spg-amex-starwood-credit-card

It seems the 35k offer is currently only available via the public link; “support” links still show the old 25k offer even when trying to generate a new link. I want DW to get this card, but I may wait a few days to see if I can refer her for the higher offer and get a bonus too. The 35k offer ends 3/28/2018. (For those of you thinking about buying Starpoints at 35% off from points dot com, that offer ends 3/16/2018.)

Note that the higher offer does carry a higher minimum spending requirement. $7k in 3 months may be a bit much for some without getting creative with your spend. But you’ll come out of this with at least 42,000 Starpoints, which is no small sum!

I’ll be in wait and see mode as well for DH, so hopefully the support links will generate the new offer soon. The 42K is effectively 126K Marriott points and combined with the ~160K from the Marriott Biz cards, we could be looking at the package deals if that comes in handy :ssst:

This couldn’t be more timely since we are wrapping up the MSR on both our Marriott Biz cards, and he will be cooling off with Chase for a few months while I’m planning my next move; can fit one more personal before I need to pump the brakes to go for CP at the end of this year since his CP expires end of this year.

Ugh. I'd probably have to do a few thousand in Gift of College cards to spend that much in three months.

Can someone remind me--is the 3 months with Amex actually 3 months?
I think it is. If we didn't have the taxes, plus lots of wedding travel and expenses over the next 3 months, and then the backups like insurance to make me feel better... I'd have to pass.

Ok my Af posted 1/31, so I paid it in this statement due date, maybe it was technically on the next one.... Ok I can see what might have happened- it closed on the 26th...so technically I paid it already but its' next months statement...thank you for all the help figuring this out!
.....annnnddd..... update for all you JB peeps.... one week later.... got the bonus points. SO it seems none of the previous applied in my case about the AF and payment timing, they're just slow:rotfl: (sorry to lengthen the thread on a nonessential note)

Ugh, my SO got the 7-10 message for the CIP and he hates calling in. I think having a relationship with Chase helps with approvals. I had a Chase bank account since I was a freshman in high school and got approved with $5 in revenue. We recently started a side hustle that made 2k in January so we put that for him and he is denied. He does not bank with Chase.

I feel like I spent all day yesterday just planning trips for this year... yaaaaaay! And good thing it was slow at work!

DH said he wanted to take a trip this summer so I was trying to think of what we could do that wouldn't break the bank since we still plan to go to Orlando in the fall. I was googling around the internet for things and thought it would be pretty cool to see Niagara Falls since neither of us have ever been. So now we're roadtripping to Buffalo/Niagara Falls this summer for five days! I'm pretty excited about the trip, but having trouble deciding where to stay. The Marriotts in the area seem pretty overpriced unless you stay next to the airport, and even those are around $140/night. Anyone from Buffalo/been there recently and have any ideas? Other option for us would be Airbnbs, but obviously would like to collect some points if possible.

This is truly an amazing thread! I started on 810 but was lost (the ACRONYMS kill me LOL). Then I started reading from the beginning but I've only gotten through page 21 so far. I am kicking myself because I never knew about this opportunity to save on travel. The only thing I ever did was open a Disney Visa before our trip last year. I did it for the gift cards, which were great, but I thought it was a once and done deal. Wow! there is so much more out there. This shall be my new hobby! It fits me perfectly - detail oriented and LOVE a travel bargain!

I have searched around the web and found some great step by step guides but they were not current so I was hesitant to follow their specific advice. Some say start with Chase cards, and others say they're not the best way to go. I want to jump in (and get started on the minimum spend) but I'm afraid to make the wrong card decision. If anyone has links to current beginner-type content, I'd be grateful. Also, what is DisChurners? Can I join that too?

How many cards have you opened in the past 24 months? What are your travel goals? I recommend starting with Chase if you have less than five cards in 24 months. Especially, UR earning cards. If you are under 5/24 and can say you have a business I’d recommend starting with the CIP. If you aren’t comfortable with that double dipping the same day with the CSR and CSP is a good option if you can spend 8k in three months.

If you PM me your reddit name - I can add you to DISchurners. IF you don't have a reddit name you can register for one :)

We'd love to help you work through this. Anybody who is saying don't start with Chase might have ulterior motives. For about 97% of people it's going to make sense to start and focus on Chase initially. Share with us some of your goals (travel, hotels, air, cashback?) and what airlines you typically fly if flights are on the table. We can definitely help out!

Thank you, I was just about to apply for the Hilton Biz, while I waited for a better Delta offer. Now decision time!!!

Does anyone know if National car rental codes as travel on Chase Sapphire Reserve? Thanks!

They should. Chase specifically calls out car rental agencies as a 3x category.

My question is does DVC Rental Store or David's DVC count as travel?

Ugh my husbands cip arrived Monday. Immedialty spent $3200 on new bedroom furniture, have 600 in carpet being installed next week. If I can finish off that minimum spend quickly, I might be able to pick up the spg biz at the end of the month. 7k in 3 months is a lot, but summer camp payment is due in June-1200. Life insurance payments in May- 1400. My husbands car is going to need new antifreeze and spark plugs, we could get that done. And with everyday spending, we could probably do it.

Those delta biz cards are tempting since I seem to fly them at least one way on my trips lately and will in Nov. Do either of them have annual fees and aside from the credit and the 10k mile diff in bonus between the two, what's the diff in cards since they are both 3k spend?

I'm trying to stay at 4/24 in case anything good comes out of chase that I have to have so I'm looking to add biz cards. Will prob do a ba Alaska at some point as long as it doesn't post to my credit report.

You know you'll find a way to get it done ;-)

Delta Plat Biz has a $195 annual fee NOT waived in yr 1
Delta Gold Biz has a $95 annual fee WAIVED in yr 1

I'm sure the benefits of each card have some differences too (Plat earns some MQM miles...whatever those are, lol). The Gold seems like the better offer to me since you avoid the $195 annual fee but I am by NO MEANS a Delta expert :)
