I love credit cards so much!

I got the "7-10 day message" on the automated line. So, I am assuming this will be a denial. If so, I will call recon. My score is in the high 800s and I have a long history with Chase. If still denied, I will use my CSR and wait for a better Marriott bonus. I don't need it all right now.

Ulta is a mastercard.
Yeah, bummer! Since it's a mastercard they probably won't exclude it but can't hurt to try recon :) Good Luck!

Thanks. I got caught up with the Marriott status bump I would get. I'm already Silver and would get gold between the bonus status and my minimum of 10 marriott stays that will be happening this year.

Wow, there is a lot of info on here! I am trying to plan a trip for our large family (there are 9 of us), so this will be very helpful!
Welcome! Also thanks for joining DISchurners - I sent you the welcome message on Reddit since you don't have enough messages on the DIS to PM (you need at least 10). I think you'll find a lot of interest info here :)

I am panicking that the hotel room I have an eye on for our October Universal Trip is going to be sold out before my 80000 CIP bonus hits. There is not a way to book with UR before you have the points, right? It has already increased in price and some days are no longer available. Eek!

There is not. And you won't get the 80000 points until the statement closes after you earn them. It takes up to a week to post after earning and then you will get them when your statement closes. I just missed my CSP when I hit the spend but the points didn't show as pending on my UR account for a couple days and my statement closed in the meantime so I had to wait another month before I got them.

My dh is having a 'vitrectomy'. He has a huge floater that is attached on both sides, like a hammock, to his retina. It's severely impacting his vision in that eye and sometimes blocks his entire field. SO, they are gonna stick needles in his eyeballs and suck it out  Our part of the surgery is $1500 so that is definitely gonna help with this SPG card we are struggling to get spend on.

Sorry about the procedure - it sounds less than pleasant.

Good that you have a place for the spend on your SPG!

Ugh. Thanks for the response! I was pretty sure that was true but was hoping there was a work around that I wasn't aware of. We have some big stuff coming up to help with the spend, I am just being impatient!

Worth asking for sure! Back in the day Amex used to have a program where you could borrow ahead on your points but they got rid of that a while ago and I can't think of any issuers right now who allow that. Hope the rooms you want open back up when you have the points to book them!

Feel free to give details and ask for help. I did a large extended family trip with lots of points recently and I know there are others here that are much more knowledgeable than I and very helpful!

We got back last night from our "freeish" trip to Ft. Meyers area. Looking at my CC accounts today and yelling at my husband for using the wrong cards while there. LOL Just when I think he has them down pat, he gets confused. A lot of the confusion is over the travel categories with CSR. It took me forever to get it into his head that gas is not travel. I guess I am still learning too. He used it for our bike rentals, I said that is not travel. He counters that we traveled all over the island on those bikes, I think we traveled. Well, CSR does not think it is travel. Then I noticed he used it for our boat ride in Everglades. I told him that is not travel either. Wrong! That one did code as travel. It is confusing. So he did right on that one. He has been reluctant to add ApplePay but he saw how easy it was when I was able to use it, so I finally got him to add it today. We enjoyed our free food and drinks at the Pittsburgh Airport Club lounge. Wish the Ft Meyers airport had one, there was not much food selection there at all. Southwest ticket and rental car was paid for in cash because we had CSR travel credit to use and the hotel was all on points. And apparently the Everglade boat ride also was "free" with travel credit also. We also did 2 museums (Mound house and Edison and Ford Estate) that was free with our reciprocal museum membership. It was a great budget 4 day trip in the warm Florida sun!

how was it coded then? its possible the merchant has the wrong coding. My local Boba place doesnt code as dining, it should be considered its food. I use my Amex card there after it failed to code as dining on CSR.

Does your Boba shop use Square? Lots of DPs that restaurants and cafes using Square don’t code as dining even though they’re clearly dining establishments.

Our cold stone creamery uses square and it didn't code as dining either.

Hello Everyone!
I am looking for the best card for a college student. I am thinking it would be better for them to take a credit card (rather than cash and debit card) on an upcoming spring break trip so I want to make a quick decision. Also, this will help build credit. I have been reading and doing research but WOW there is so much info out there that it’s hard to filter through it.
I got my first credit a little before my freshman year. I got amazon card for it was convenient to buy books and other things from there. By sophomore year i end up with chase freedom. My credit limit was a lot lower then for i was just building credit. Seven years later I have a credit limit beyond what I need and a great credit score.

I just registered for Plastiq and trying to set up a car payment. What category to you use? I selected Other but that prompts a Specify Recipient Category, Recipient's phone and email requirement? My loan is through BoA so I used the format suggested for mtgs. Thanks!
