I love credit cards so much!

I have SPG personal and Biz, and it looks like from mine they credited the nights/stays for the card on the 8th and 9th, and then they did it again on the 23rd and 24th...
So I'm at 8 stays/20 nights. Have 5 nights at the Dolphin starting tomorrow... so that puts me at Gold. How long does that last? :)
I got an email saying I had gold status through February 29, 2020...the top says "You struck Gold!"

How do you know if you have nights or gold status lol? SPG noob here and I don't see anything in my dh's account. He has the SPG personal.

ETA: Just says he is a 'gold preferred guest'.

FYI for those with the Amex Starbucks offer. I just used my Amex to reload $35 on my Starbucks account through the SB app, and I received an email from Amex thanking me for using my offer. It does say the following: "You will have successfully redeemed the offer if your purchase meets the offer terms." However, the offer terms specifically reference app reloads: "Valid in-store at stand-alone Starbucks locations and for app reloads." I do not interpret that to mean that the app reload has to happen in a store, but I will report back once I see whether it actually worked.

Might want to crop that...

Ok, I am missing why people are getting SPG stays added. Just random? I looked at my account, don't see anything.

According to Flyertalk, its official. proof here --> https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/29334895-post3280.html

you need 10 stays or 25 nights. with the recent boost, you just need 2 stays in total for gold.

I am wondering if my dh's SPG card and his Starwood account are linked? I see that he is "Golden" but nothing about any nights. Here is what it looks like:

Gold Preferred Guest (My Benefits)
  • Marriott Rewards® Member
Member #: 4572xxxxxxx | Starpoints®: 0 | 0 nights since 2017

I’m sure @Albort is aware of the previous 100k Marriott points offer and the current 80k public offer. What makes the 75k points deal tempting is the annual fee of $85 is waived for the first year. So I guess the questions are whether the 5k (or possibly 25k if the offer ever goes back up to 100k) points difference is worth $85 to you, and are there any other card you’d rather use a 5/24 slot on?

ive had my eye on the Marriott card for awhile. I dont have any cards i want. only thing left for me is CIP and United and Marriott. at 3/24 until next year.

That's what my DH's Starwood account says: Gold Preferred Guest
He has Gold Status with Starwood (and I linked his Marriott acct, so he has Gold there too [free breakfast!])

Mine says: Preferred Guest Plus

Anyone read the reddit thread about keeping below 5/24 forever? It seems like a good policy. Ive been doing this as well. just noticed im down to 2/24 in a month or so haha.

So what is the reasoning behind this?...As I'm a one player mode as well...

its being allowed to hit the Sapphire Bonuses every 2 years. It makes sense to me as a single player that you should only earn xx amount of points with certain point system... i think it gets very big profile if you try to to earn them all. You may not have the capacity to earn enough for anything to use although signup bonuses should be enough for something. just what i thought. here is what it says on the reddit thread.
Pros
  • You can apply to another Chase card, whether they are limited by 5/24 or not
  • You can get a CSP or CSR every 2 years if you plan it right
  • You build up your relationship slowly with Chase and other banks
  • You probably don’t have to MS to meet the minimum spends
Cons
  • The biggest con is that you won’t be applying to 12 cards a year, or even 6. You are limited to 2-3 cards a year, and maybe 1-2 business cards.
  • The speed limit on apps severely limits the amount of sign-on bonus you can get
  • The slow pace means you may not be involved in as many points programs as you would like to be
  • Less bragging rights about LOL/24

My dh was already Gold with Marriott so I think it's pulling the Gold status from Marriott maybe? When I signed up for him a SPG personal card, I don't remember putting in any membership number so I am not sure his membership is linked to his credit card but I can't tell how to see that info!

if u didn’t put in a member number, then spg will create another one. where did the bonus point go to then?

Oh, you're probably right, his Marriott Gold is conferring Gold to his Starwood.

To check if his SPG card is linked, log into his Starwood account. Click on his name, go to "Manage My Account" over on the left side and click "My Profile." Scroll down to "Credit Card Information" and it should be there if it's linked.

Haven't finished the spend yet. Just asked him if he had a Starwoods account and he says he has one for the career site?!? Good grief...he says he never created one for the hotel membership but that he linked his Marriott account. Not sure what he thinks he linked it to. So, how do I find the number that SPG created? Don't see anything on the Amex page about it. I wish they printed them on the cards like SW does.

Thanks! I didn't realize the image had actually attached. Once I saw it had taken a screen shot of both my monitors, I decided to just quote the language instead. I've deleted the image.

This is getting hillarious. All my nights and stays were credited on 1/15. Maybe I'll get more? ;)

Good stuff, lol. Just didn't want you to get in trouble or anything!
