I love credit cards so much!

I’m not a fan of the Chase business interface. I always check transactions and points earned under the Recent Activity link on the Ultimate Rewards site. I find that transactions and points pending appear much faster on the UR site.
Thank you! I knew it was somewhere and was drawing a total mindblank. It's much easier to see transactions there too. I build websites, I'm not computer illiterate, that is the worst user interface I've ever seen lol

Ugh, why does Marriott keep sending me their offer when I am 5/24 during Nov! DH thought we were done after my SW cards but these (DH and I) would be nice for a trip to Atlantis since we’ll have SW points and CP. Or I think there was Marriott we stayed at on the Gold Coast of Australia...

LOL, I was just cursing the same thing when I got another one about 10 minutes ago!

Decided to throw my hands up in the air and give the Cap1 Venture a shot. Immediately denied. Approx 770 FICO, 3% credit utilization, 8/12 and 9/24. Immediate notification from credit karma and experian apps on the hard pulls, all 3 bureaus pulled. (I saw data points on people getting approved with credit scores approx where I'm at as well as credit utilization so I decided to give it a shot now as my utilization will go down and my credit score will go up over the next few months but no dice. c'est la vie. what to get next?...)

Thanks for posting this useful and helpful DP. Cap1 has been on my "maybe" list for awhile and these stats tell me it would be a no go for me with the recent new accounts. What cards don't you have or what are you considering?

Looking for other DPs. I've noticed that my Shop Through Chase purchases don't credit when I pay with a combination of credit card and gift card. However, they do credit about a week later when I pay with just a credit card or only gift card(s). Any other experiences?
I ordered my son shoes from Nike and paid with a gift card with $15 on my credit card. It credited last week.

Good to know, I was also considering this! Figured I could buy my WDW tickets from UT. I might have to wait a bit as I have opened 3 cards since May. I'd also love to grab a hotel card...leaning toward Marriott.

Anyone want to give me a suggestion on which to apply for first/when? I'm 2/24. I'd like to get CSP, Marriott, and maybe Venture (not sure now with gottalovepluto's experience).

If you are 2/24 you should really consider Chase cards unless you really have a solid reason for another card. Are either of those 2 a Biz card? You could potentially get 5 more Chase cards before being locked out due to 5/24.

I have the same experience with the United Chase card-stop sending me mailers until you A) break up with Chase or B) demand to be exempt from the 5/24. Ugh. I know you can transfer from UR but since United shows more/different seats when searching for award fares I'd really like that option...

Neither of those are a biz card. I'm 2/24 not counting my Chase(Southwest) business card. I'll focus on the Chase cards first, thanks!

You could potentially get a second business card (mixed reports on how easy it is with Chase to get 2 biz cards) and that wouldn't count, so you're still 2/24.

Then you could get 2 more Chase cards bringing you up to 4/24 (If you really want the Marriott card, I'd make sure that's one of these 2).

Finally you could attempt to do a double dip at 4/24 and get 2 more Chase cards by applying on the same day.

Boom! If all of this works, you've gotten 8 cards instead of 5! I'm planning to do something along these lines with my wife once she clicks under 5/24 in April next year.

EDIT: I will concede that if you have a very specific need in mind (i.e. need American miles to go to Hawaii before Southwest starts flying there) then it could make sense to use a 5/24 slot on another issuer. If there is no immediate need, stick with Chase until they don't love you anymore!

I think @mhartman09 recently got the Marriott personal with the 80k offer? Anyways, I saw someone on reddit post that their wife was able to get matched to the 100k offer just last week via sm... I just sent one in to see. It's worth a shot!

Shop Through Chase has always been very YMMV for me. I have had my points clawed back once after 3 weeks for using a non-chase brand card, i also had points given to me for using a non-chase brand card. Sometimes they dont even show up. Another time, i bought 2 iPads back to back, one of them gave me my extra 2% but the other didnt. when i inquired, they told me they were on sale, therefore it didnt count. i didnt want to burn the bridge and get my other points taken away so i let it go. I still got a few walmart purchases that hasnt pass through shop with chase either... :(

did u get the 120k mailer? i got it, i would totally get it but i already have a another card coming. :(

Edit: thanks evil amalone1013 ;)

I don't have any Amex right now (will be reading up on that Schwab-Amex cash cow!). Have Barclay Arrival+, did Barclay AA, I've hit everything I want with Chase except AARP and will be keeping my CSR so I have some lounge access and travel protections already. Have Citi AA cards and many AA miles. I'm most interested in BoA's premium rewards card but I can't figure out how to make use of the $100 airline incidental credit over the next 2 months and I want to maximize that to hit it twice for one annual fee.

I'm considering Delta. I manage my parent's new Delta card for them (for simplicity's sake I call it "mine" in our online forums). I have 20,000 DL miles from DL Royally screwing up earlier this year so wondering if I should hit the DL personal bonus while it is so high and with my parents having miles we might travel somewhere next year and this way I could travel the same airline as they do instead of coordinating something with AA flights instead... but I won't get much out of the free baggage benefit at this point being single (but that's not changing anytime soon so I probably ought to just get on about living life for me!). Being once in a lifetime I wonder if you can get the free bag benefit and AF waived if I try to get the card a few years down the road even if you can't get the bonus again? Off to Reddit to ask that! If that's possible maybe I should hit up the DL Amex card so I actually have enough DL miles to do something with them. I'm flying them to FL in a week and a half so I could trigger the statement credit- but I need to make that call TODAY to get the card in time...

I don't have big travel plans for next year (yet) and prob won't know what I'm doing until sometime in Q1 2018. Not interested in hotel credit cards so maybe I should just be chasing the biggest cash bonus right now? Hmmm.... glad you asked! I'm really thinking this through more and I have a clock on that DL card! I'm at 90% of my income with Chase right now in CL so I might have issues getting that AARP card without dropping CLs. Although with no plans maybe I need to chill for a bit. But with work I can bite off a 3K spend right now so I hate leaving that on the table! So:
-DL Amex (better apply today though)
-Amex anything (since I have none with a goal towards the Schwab cash-out)
-AARP (but I'm reluctant to drop my Chase CLs)
-Chill for a bit
-Another Citi AA (because that gravy train can't go on forever)

Would love anyone's thoughts!!

Thanks, great plan! Hope it works for you when you try in April. I don't really have a specific need in mind. Not planning to go to Hawaii until 2019, and I will have Southwest Companion pass then. I fly mostly Southwest. I'd like a hotel card just for points and staying free just because I can, ha! It doesn't have to be Marriott...do you recommend one over the other? SPG or Hyatt maybe? Only reason I was considering venture was for UT tickets for my December 2018 WDW trip.

Currently SPG points are the most desirable hotel points. You can use them to transfer to partners as well(20k at a time = 25k at the airline). They also go to marriott at 3x, so 1 spg = 1 Marriott point. Both SPG Amex cards currently have promotions on it, so if you want to start one now, do it before the end of the month. Also, when it comes to marriott bookings, the SPG cards earn more than Marriotts own cards... which is kinda funny in a way... :P
Hyatt is probably the best when it comes to redeeming. 15k for a $250 room is pretty sweet redemption. 25k sometimes for like a $400 room. Keep in mind though UR does go to Hyatt.

it really depends on what branding you like, there is also Hilton, IHG, etc.

Just got a "we're mailing you a credit card" email from Chase and got excited that maybe it was the CIP - nope, it's a new Freedom card as mine is set to expire next year. :confused3

May go for the Marriott card next... :scratchin

I was jealous because I didn't know there was a 120K mailer until I read your post, and VOILA! I just now got an email with the offer. I wasn't planning on going for another card yet, but now I'll really have to consider this new option.
