Learned something new today. Chase portal = expedia. like... expedia expedia... Chase cards only work in Chase portal too.
Food for thought.
wait...what? when I book a hotel thru the portal,I'm booking thru expedia? that's strange,is this new? and I don't really like that (considering I have a bunch of bookings coming up)

Looking into Plastiq and the first attempt is not helpful. For my insurance payment, no relationship so it would be a cash advance. No go. Other option is mortgage. Anyone pay a Chase mortgage with a Chase CC thru Plastiq? This works?

OK, I just got a letter from Chase that due to inactivity, my Disney Visa was scheduled to be closed in 60 days. It said I can use it in that time, but that won't prevent it from closing. (I never use this card). Anyhoo, I was actually planning to use it for our March 2018 WDW trip. How long after it closes do you think I need to wait to reapply and get the bonus offer? I've had it for over two years--probably 3 so it has been a while since I got the offer.
You should be able to open the same card and get the bonus if it's been more than 24 months since you first opened it. I downgraded the Disney Premier card to the no fee card in March. I then opened a new Premier card last month and earned the $200 statement credit for meeting the $500 spend. I found the statement credit deal on the Disneyland website, but there is a gift card deal on the Chase website. If you want the no fee card it's only $50 gift card bonus on the Chase site but I've seen links on other sites where you can get $200 gift cards for the no fee card.

I've been using Plastiq for the past few months to pay my rent to help meet minimum spends. Our property management company did not have a relationship with them so I had to set everything up but it was not processed as a cash advance, it went through as a normal transaction. I have read that if you are trying to use an AMEX for the first payment then they will try to put it through as a cash advance the first time to establish the relationship. If that's what's happening then I would advise putting a small amount of your payment on a Visa card and then pay the rest with the AMEX. If you are using a Chase card then I've read that you can set your cash advance limit to zero so then it won't go through as one. Good luck!!

I set up the Plastiq account & entered the payee. When I got to the final screen, it said they had no relationship with payee & would be processed as cash advance. The payee is a once a year insurance payment, nothing monthly and only $125 so not worth breaking up. Trying to put it on CSP.

The cash advance problem is a Visa problem, so you'll probably see the same issue with the CSP. Luckily Plastiq warns you that the transaction will process as a cash advance before charging your card.

You can do as @Angrose suggested and set the cash advance limit on your card(s) to $0, or as close to zero as the card will allow and make a small payment that processes as a cash advance to establish the relationship with the payee, then charge the balance as a credit card transaction.

Or you can establish a relationship with the payee by first paying with an Amex, which will not process as a cash transaction, and then make subsequent payments with a Visa without problems.

ETA: Of course, you'll want to use a Visa to pay mortgage or rent via Plastiq because it'll code as 2x travel on a CSP and 3x travel on a CSR/CIP (at least for now). Paying with an Amex will not trigger any travel bonus category.

Do you think the fact that I will be retired will have an impact on approvals?

My guess is the amount of the income is more of a reason for approval than the job title.

Less than $XX annual income might be a factor with some of the premium cards.

As always .. YMMV with any credit card application.

Ugh, decisions....easy CP now or wait til early 2018 and (probably have to) work harder for it?
I plan on applying for a SW card using the 60k points link. I see everyone mentioning that this will result in an "easy CP". I don't know much about Companion Passes, how you earn them, etc. How does the 60k get you an CP?
EDITED TO ADD-- ok from my reading, it seems you get a CP when you "earn" 110k points in a calendar year? So I'd have to apply for 2 cards to get one? I just canceled my SW "plus" card. DH has a SW "Premier" in his name. Can I apply for a Premier for me and a Plus for him? Will that work? Also, there is a SW "business" card? Does one have to actually own a business? How does that work?

Right, it has to be through two SW cards to get a combined 120K bonus (assuming you meet the 4K minimum spend, but in your case, and for DBF as well since you both have the Plus already, you would need to apply for both the Personal and Business Premier or for your DH it would be the Personal Plus and Premier Business, so the minimum spend is actually 5K for one business and one personal) to make it work. It has to be one individual since RR accounts are individual, meaning the points have to post to one account.

To get the "easy CP," you'd want to apply for 2 of the SW cards in order to get 60k bonus on each.

If you earn 110,000 Companion Pass Qualifying Points within a calendar year, Southwest will issue you a companion pass.

DBF currently has the SW Plus, so he is trying to get CP using the SW premier Business and Personal. Applied for both, and was approved for business but denied for personal because "we can't approve you for the same product at the same time, but you can trying calling for reconsideration before the app goes into archive." Does anyone know if he would still qualify for the current 60K offer if the recon is successful on 7/1 since the app was submitted when the bonus is 60K?

Bumping to see if anyone knows? New reddit user, so wasn't able to post in those threads to ask.

I'm a little confused (menopause brain) ....

The PLUS (which I had until I canceled it a few days ago) was in my name
The Premier is in DH's name.
The points from both of these cards have always deposited to one RR account.

If I applied for the Premier for me
and Plus for DH couldn't the points also go into one RR account?
Would this then earn us one CP?

So how do you set the cash advance to 0? I can find the limit listed in my account but I'm not able to change it. Do you have to SM?

.yes We have 2 Chase accounts so I'm not sure but I think it was separate log ins for each. Each chase log in allows me to view several Chase cc accounts. Our Disney rewards are split the same way One is on one chase acct the other is on the other.

I kinda knew that chase portal is some kinda of Expedia clone but when I recently checked in, it says Expedia on it.

you can SM them or call them. I'm not sure how low u can set csp limit but csr limit is $100 minimum. I'm not sure why. I recall seeing my limit listed somewhere on my account.

Is it possible that you are an AU on each other's account? It seems like Chase would cross check the RR # that you provided when you applied for the cards, especially with the value of the CP. Do you both have your own RR#? Regarding the business requirements, they seem to for the most part take your word for it. There are several DP's that indicate they allow for things like selling on ebay (even reselling clothes or other household items), pet care (grooming, walking, sitting), Avon, plants (garden surplus). If you are concerned you could ask the personal banker at Chase for their opinion as @wendow did. I would figure out who's RR# the points are going to, and who has the best chance of getting both cards approved. I would want some confirmation that if you applied for one card and your DH applied for the other card that they would pool your points and even if they did, SW may not allow it. Would hate to see you apply for one each only to find out one of you will still need to be approved for one additional card in order to get CP. If you get a chance let us know how it goes.

Chase (credit cards in general) attach each account to primary SS#, so if you login to Chase and see both accounts, they are both for the same SS# and person. If you login and see one & your DH logs in and see a different account then you each have one. (For instance, DH has CSR & CSP and mortgage visible on his login; I have My CSP, SW, Marriott and mortgage on mine. We cannot see each other's CC accounts on our separate logins)

If they are indeed different accounts under different SS#, I think it was a glitch that both accounts linked to one RR account because I'm pretty sure people can't share a RR account

I am getting very close to retirement. Actually I could have retired two years ago, but wasn't mentally ready.

Now, I am seriously considering it within 1 year.
I will have some income from pensions (2) and the old ss check adds a little as well. I also have income from my retirement savings. I will be comfortable, with a paid off home and cars and more money coming in than actual expenses. Health care won't be a problem.

I've always been a minor credit card junkie. Apply for the points, meet minimum spend and toss it in the sock drawer.

Thought I was beyond all of that but now I am seeing a way to fund more travel. (I didn't bother opening this thread for a long time, now I'm glued to it!)

Do you think the fact that I will be retired will have an impact on approvals?

My fico scores are all good - 838, and 850 - amex and my credit union show them on my accounts.
I hope not, that would seem like age discrimination. As long as your credit is good, and your income is sufficient you should be good. Congrats, I am so jealous :)
